    I have to open this up, not only to replace the battery - again (I did this exactly this time last year at some little shop, its starting to swell) BUT I noticed a few weeks after I had my battery replaced last Summer, my S-Pen wouldnt write ....ONLY in the center part of the screen. Seems to only work at the top and bottom. First time I used the SPen after that new battery...so the kid - I assume knocked something ajar perhaps, he really did seem to replace this super fast..almost in a rush. I wasnt going to go back to that shop and claim this, too late and I take blame for that. So..hoping that cable I noticed you disconnected at 4:48 is loose? We'll see.
    By the way, Thank you for your tutorial on replacing the battery, helps so much! I feel confident I can do this on my own now and not shell out 50-60 bucks like last year.

    Everything was going reasonably well until using the technique desired for removing the battery, the battery erupted into flames. I never imagined this would be a fire hazard or dangerous and was performing this disassembly in my office. I ran down the hall with a erupted burning cell phone and battery , trying to get to a safe place. I am not blaming the author of the video but I would put a big disclaimer that this possibility exist if you damage the battery. I completely understand now why these batteries are banned from aircraft. it was a small simple fire it erupted into a ball of flames. BE CAREFUL

    • @jeffparimuha4248
      @jeffparimuha4248 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree. I tried using a METAL, super thin, pry/separator tool and ruptured the battery cover and shorted part of the cell. Luckily, I was going slowly and was able to prevent a catastrophic failure and still able to use it. Use a few drops of isopropyl alcohol to soften the battery adhesive.

I know, but that is where I got the phone from, and it should still be under warranty. I hope. Will they have to send it in? This is the only phone I have and I don't have a landline. Good video and very helpful EXCEPT for the part about using a METAL pry-tool on the battery! If you're not careful (very careful) you'll rupture the battery case and likely short circuit part of the cells. Ask me how I know. USE A FEW DROPS OF ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL TO LOOSEN THE BATTERY ADHESIVE!!!! If you damage the battery you may as well get another one while the phone is open otherwise you'll be doing this again.
    The other part not covered, at least not that I saw, is when putting the back cover on the assembled phone, use your heatgun to reactivate the adhesive. Heat up the phone on a paper towel on a flat surface. Start with the top or bottom half of the phone. When you get it hot, press down with a gloved hand or use a thin cloth to to protect your fingers and hold the back down while the adhesive cools and holds fast. Repeat with the other end.

    Waste of time as far as just replacing front glass. Never showed that step!! Good tutorial on how to dismantle everything however if replacing front frame assembly at higher cost.

    • @seanwatts392
      @seanwatts392 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need special equipment to replace just the glass because the glass is glued to the oled screen. If you try to separate it without the machine you will break your oled screen. So you would buy the digitizer + frame and swap them out.

      Lol cheap $10 pack of plastic pry tools and scrapers. Nothing special about it. Shouldn't have to take apart a single component on the phone, just remove and place new glass.

    • @alexbayne289
      @alexbayne289 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doing so, at least with a genuine OLED screen, is equally if not more expensive (stupid I know) because of part scarcity. An actual screen replacement is also riskier and more difficult than this.

    • @user-dt9fo9cy8b
      @user-dt9fo9cy8b 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      as of January 2019, around $200. You can also find deals with the screen bezel assembly, for about $40 to $50 more. Less to take apart. I got the bezel and screen replacement from Gadgetfix.com for about $240. Had all the buttons installed, so I didn't need to dicker with those, thank goodness, because just the first part of this video...heating the back, took more than a half hour.

    The only reason to take everything out is if you are replacing the screen with the frame. Otherwise, remove the screen same as the back was removed, disconnect cable going through the frame, replace the screen, connect the cable, and put the back cover back on.

I had Samsung repair my cracked glass on my month old Note 9 which is the whole panel glass and screen. cost me $258, I had no insurance. so untill you show how to remove the glass and replace it. i gave thumbs down
