- What is up all you Pokémon maniacs out there! PikiPikaPapa is here sharing with you what I look for in a single card BEFORE I invest in it. These are the types of videos that I absolutely LOVE as it's a look behind the curtains at what I actually do with my collecting dollars!!! Even though I'm a big believer in sealed Pokemon Booster Box investing I also have a lot of fun with investing in Pokemon singles cards too!! Just because this is what I look for when picking Pokemon singles cards to invest in I'd love to hear what all of you are looking at as well so drop them in the comments below!

Agreed , way too much downside , I worry to hold for 20 years and nobody even cares about that 1 card anymore. You see this alot with older sets where the value of the cards no longer correlate with the price of the box
There are $1000 boxes with the top hit only worth $80 lol
Definitely not worth it , but it's a speculation market, with fault low market cap and can be manipulated with a fairly low amount of money generally soeaking
Totally agree that now isn't the time. However if/when that bad boy drops I guarantee you I'll be in line to pick it up!!

Not a fan of paldea evolved
It's an acquired taste for sure LOL luckily there are lots of other awesome sets out there!!
@PikaPikaPapa I feel like the set is trying to be pushed into the same category as evolving skies by the TH-cam influencers, just because it has the word "evolved" in the name.
In actuality, they're not the same in the least bit. Not a single eeveelution and the top chase? A magikarp. A fish pokemon. No one likes fish pokemon- they only like magi because 1.) he evolves into gyarados. 2.) He's a meme for being useless
The whole scarlet/violet set is unattractive. I have mixed emotions about changing the borders of the cards to silver to match to the Japanese cards. In a way it's like a slap in the face to the American market. "You must join us now. No more riding solo."
Paldea evolved has ZERO cards that interest me. None. I'd be hard pressed to find a scarlet and violet set that interests me.
The play rn is picking up some cheap booster boxes from SV
Paradox rift is still my favorite at the current price you can get a sealed case Dont think you can go wrong with any cheap SV booster box

I think cards like celebi alt art are finally at fair value, before they were very undervalued. Next time they release that van gogh Pikachu they need to do it at the top of some mountain lol. And if they're not careful These scalpers could be the ones getting scalped idk😂😂
LMAO!!!! I love this!!!! I'll strap on some climbing gear and go for a climb to snag some epic pokemon cards!! I also agree with you that some of these SW&SH cards that were undervalued are now at fair value. Where they go from here who knows! Awesome comment my friend!!
i am currently not investing into cards, its too high variance for me compared to how damn easy it is to just make money investing into sealed items.
I understand and respect the grind of how much single card specilists can make but i just dont have the time for it. so i put the time i have into figuring out what sealed cases and stuff is best to put my money into etc.
Agreed that sealed is like shooting fish in a barrel right now!! I think the options available in that space are unbelievable!! SW&SH is going to make a lot of people a lot of money!!
I know this card is a little toxic to talk about in a positive way right now. But the Gastly card has a few of the things you look for in a card. Gengar on the card. Card quality issues keeping gem rates low, first time ever we see entire evolution line on one card. No one fomo! Plenty of time. But have a few in the collection before we exit SV era.
LMAO Dudeeeee this is too funny... I legit purchased one the other day!! I know I over paid and I know from an "investment" standpoint it's dumb BUT I got it for the PC as I'm a huge Gengar fan and I said jusssssttttttt maybe this card (for all the reasons you mentioned above) will be worth something down the line. Love that card and I'm excited to send it off to PSA!!
Im big on the karp. Not for the long term but for the quick plays. I will hold one psa10 just in case the 💎 mint rate doesnt increase with reprints. If that happens it could definitely see true organic growth over time
Short term right now is a great flex, prices will come down again and I'll be picking a few more up then. I'm a bigger believer in the long term upside so mine will be in the Poke closet but I think there will be plenty of money to be made at both ends. Awesome comment and have a great one!!
Do you think Radiant Charizard (PGO + Crown Zenith) will have some big value 15 years form now? :)
I think the cards are awesome but I worry about the pop. There are almost 8K of the PoGo Zards in PSA 10 and 7,200 of the CZ. PoGo Pokemon Center ETBs are still available on the US Pokemon Center Website so there will be a lot more of that product opened. I'm more bullish on the CZ set as I think it's a much loved set but again it will depend on if they do more reprints/restocks. Really awesome question! Made me do a little research so I like it!!
What do you think about the Pikachu ex promo from the World Championships 2023 Yokohama?
I love the card and love the art!! The PSA 10 pop is already over 10,000 with a lot of product left to be open so that is my only concern. With that being said I will absolutely scoop one up at some point for the PC as that card is EPIC!!
The pikachu grey felt card is the card of the era so far imo. The grading pop is high, but I think most people are grading to keep it. I like that it is still $90 it can only go up from here
To me that pikachu kind of represents the side of Pokémon people don’t like. The scalper, only for profit motive rather than collecting what you personally like. But if you like the card and don’t mind the value then pick it up
@@eastendmafia1773I agree. It will always have that stigma in the lore of the card. The big chase of SV is still coming, likely a Mega EX evolution SIR of a popular and/or legendary Pokémon in the second half.
I agree it just needs time to appreciate, yes it was scalped just like EVERY promo worth substantial money.
Sure the $1 promos are easy to get , but NONE of the expensive ones have not been scalped , why the hate for felt hat? When there is like 200 promos that got scalped before it that nobody seems angry about just that 1
Personally, I'm a huge fan of that card as well!! I've got 2 of them and I feel lucky to have snagged them!! I vividly remember where I was and what I was doing in order to try and get them, it was insane!! I love that about the card and it will always have a cool place in my collection!!
@eastendmafia1773 I picked up two from pokemon center orders. Yes, the scalping was bad. However a lot of collectors also hoard products/cards. When the card released, there were tons of threads on Reddit w users bragging about picking up a few copies. It's not just the scalpers that lead to lead to shortages it also collectors

I’d love to see a video of your top ten PSA 10s currently at a low value… like $30-$50 auction/buy out. I’ve been looking at loads of auctions, working out which cards get the most bids and are selling a lot but at a low value. What I don’t know is how to work out the future value of these cards.
I can totally put some work into that!! I have a few on my list right now that are in that range so I’ll see if I can come up with enough to make a whole video out of!! Awesome idea!!

My favorite set that's exclusive is boss Pikachu. They are Japanese promos of Pikachu cosplaying the Team bosses

Something different to look at. The rainbow rares in Evolving Skies. Some, mainly the Eeveelutions, Rayquaza and Gyrados seem to be starting to trend up. Nothing big but higher lows and highs.
They are already peaking IMO. No shade just saying they have been going up for a month and 2 weeks ago was the last good entry point.

I got 2 at the $70 point and now I'm waiting for a bit as I think it's hit its ceiling for a while. If it stays at $100 I believe there will be plenty of time to get in at that price but if there is a big restock/reprint we should see the price come down some. My goal is to add more but I'm waiting a bit
@@PikaPikaPapa I'm a sucker for great artwork so I need it and I need it in a PSA 10. I have a nice example of the Japanese version.
I felt so lucky i got the pika card in store here in the Netherlands at the last (3rd) release cycle.
I went on Tuesday morning, with the card being released on Saturday before it. While stores are closed on Sunday, and even on Monday some of the stores are cloesed here, still the card was already gone in all but 1 store in my whole city. They only had about 5 ETB's left for sale, Paradox Rift and Paldean Fates, and 1 of those premium 151 boxes. All boosters were already sold out. I overpaid for a Paradox Rift ETB since the store doesn't offer a very good price on it, but even with that overpay it was worth it to me.
I just love the card. Wish I could have gotten 2, one for investment and one for keeping. But just having 1 is already great. I have it nicely showcased in my living room now :)
WOW this is awesome insight, thanks for sharing!! I love hearing about the collecting hobby from other places of the world but this unique view into the Pikachu with Grey Felt hat card is AMAZING!! I totally get the desire to have more but you're right you are lucky to have the one and I bet it will always have a special place in your collection!!

Pulled the Magikarp out of a random pack I almost put back. Went in to Walmart to buy some Temporal forces and a single Paldea Evolved pack and pulled my chase card from it. Good feeling

Love the content man. I’m all about the singles. It’ll be interesting to see what the sv 151 zard and others from that set look like a few years from now. Low gem pops (35-40%) for the chase cards.
Such an awesome call out!! I didn’t fully understand how low the Gem Rate was in 151 till I did a deep dive for a video this weekend. The whole set has a 39% Gem Rate!! That’s crazy!!

A word of caution on exclusivity. Sometimes exclusivity can become too niche. When that happens demand will not support price.
Very true!! I think it's important to partner exclusivity with a big name, that will likely give you the best chance for future upside. Great call out!!

I wish that Magikarp was $60-$100 in a PSA 10… would be a real head scratcher for a PSA 10 to be less then raw… you might be thinking of Japanese?

Hey welcome to the channel and thanks for the kind words!! I think over the next 190 years there will be ups and down but that is a really solid time horizon and I'm very VERY bullish on these cards over that timeframe!!
@@PikaPikaPapa that to me it's honestly the only market that continues to go up. I guess if trying to sell ones collection finding the the right buyer. I did notice that were seeing less and less psa grading due to price increase. Alot of blue collar collectors such as my self can only afford ccg.

I can still get the Pika Van Gogh at our local LGS here in Belgium and the Netherlands for a minimum purchase of €30. What's the main reason the Magikarp English is more expensive than the Japanese version? Love the content!

Such awesome insight on being able to still get the Pikachu!! Thank you for sharing!! That Magikarp is a really tough card to grade and it's PSA 10's are going for $600+ that's a recipe for an expensive raw card.

Now that's a tough question!! I don't know and guessing would be a fools errand but I will say 5 years is a long time that Pikachu is so special and unique so I have a lot of faith that it will be a great long term buy and hold!!
