  • Check out my new desk! After using a sit-stand desk during the week-long art retreat I attended in October I really thought one would be useful in my home. Flexispot reached out to me to see if I would review the Flexispot Comhar Standing Desk with Drawer and sent me the desk to use for free. Here is a link to the desk they sent, I chose the white frame, white glass top and castors. Flexispot USA site: shrsl.com/4cay8 (affiliate link) Canada site: bit.ly/47L0EIu Use my code Comhar20 for an extra $20 off on the desk
    *also available on Amazon: amzn.to/46Sml8b
    Pros:
    Heavy duty
    Easy to assemble
Easy to move (with castors, sold separately)
    Easy to adjust
    USB charging ports
    Locking feature
    4 programmable heights
    12"x26"x1.5" drawer
    Quiet to operate
Choice to table top (bamboo, chipboard or glass)
    Cons:
    Price
It is heavy so assembly is a 2 person job
When I sewed on it the top vibrated more than I liked. This might be due to the glass reflecteding the vibrations of the machine rather than absorbing them like the chipboard or bamboo might.
Overall this is a very high-quality product. I went with the white glass top so I could clean up my art messes easily. It is expensive but hopefully that means it will last a lifetime.

I love that you have several work stations throughout your home, my Art/Craft desk is a glass top small dining room table, it’s very easy to clean, very sturdy, originally when I bought my condo I set up a dining area but later on converted the area to my art space.

Hullo Lindsay, I am set for desks and work surfaces. I do appreciate your reviews and I feel very comfortable sharing your thoughts on art supplies with others who are looking for a new product. I have not truly purchased a “New” art supply in quite some time! I have re-purchased paints and papers even newer canvases or boards to paint on. I have managed to avoid the trendy products like the jelly gouache. I use better quality supplies and I know the brands that I like and those that I don’t. I am just so glad to have found a truly trustworthy source for reviews that I have no reservations about sharing with those asking for my recommendations. I simply don’t have the time nor energy to try new products! Thank you for sharing all of your expertise with your viewers. 😊

I have been looking for a review on this specific standing desk. I am happy I came across your review and even more happy that your perspective is from a crafters review. I use acrylic paints and also polymer clay so the glass was something I was considering. Thank you for your honest review.

I got a standing desk at work because of hip problems. It has made an incredible difference! At home I use an old drafting table. Standing while you work is much better than sitting. Because you are constantly shifting your weight, you even burn extra calories.

You could put a rubber mat under the machine, and it might reduce the vibration.

    • @deborahwyscarver9933
      @deborahwyscarver9933 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes, a high density foam rubber mat could dampen the vibration and the sewing machine would stay stable.

Thanks for the review Lindsay! I’m not sure if it would help with the vibration, but a yoga mat under the sewing machine really helps with it moving around on any table.

What a Blessing for you, Lindsay!
I have a suggestion for the sewing machine...
Just put a "rug liner" or similar cushion under the machine, and even a standing mat underneath. That will help with the vibrations.
My neighbor gave me a standing desk; but it turned out to black...yuk!
And it has no drawer..too bad! Finally, it has a hand crank...
    Yours is so much nicer!
I also don't have the glass top, but I have a large cutting mat.
Having it at standing height turns out to be perfect for my die cutting machine, especially the crank ones to get better leverage on it.
    Enjoy!!!❤

Thank you for the review, Lindsay! I just saw my eye doctor and I thought I was going to need cataract surgery! Instead I was happy to hear I just needed new glasses. The person who helped me asked about what I did during the day. I told her I like to make watercolor art and cards. She asked me so many questions about the surface and height and slant of my art work surface. I work on a regular table surface with glass on top. I also have a drafting table that I will be moving into my craft room. I do not think this table that you reviewed would be worth the investment if someone has arthritis or eye sight issues. As we get older we need a slanted work space due to arthritis with crafting or watercolors and as you mentioned being heavy to move around however if you paint with a different medium such as oils and use an easel, that topic may need another review! Thank you again for helping us all figure out the best products to invest in!

Roving reviewer Lindsay returns! The natural light looks good in the video, btw. Re: vibrations-- You could buy anti-vibration pads or mats, even available online. They’re sold to put under the feet of washing machines to reduce vibration, among other things. Some brands also stop noise. They’re made of rubber & maybe other materials, depending on the purpose. Rubber is the best material for stopping vibrations. Just my 2 cent thought! 😊

I have a desk like this, just a different brand. I really like mine. Three things this one has that mine doesn’t are the locking button, memory buttons and controls on the front edge - mine doesn’t lock, there are no memory buttons and the buttons on mine are on the top (in a corner). But mine looks the same, also has the glass too, can be sewn on and is less expensive. I’m betting having the casters on yours is why it jiggles when sewing on it.

I bought two standard, not stand/sit flexi spots for a long tabletop run for art and office work. I didn't get the glass top. Mine came with a steel piece to hang cords off. Wish mine had the electronic ports but I'm making it work with a surge protector below on the floor. Super stable, very good quality. I really like it, and it was a good value and useful for my studio.

I love my Flexispot for my normal computer/paperwork desk. I got a bike chair too, a standing pad, and a rolling file drawer. Very happy with my purchases! Mine has 3 memory settings, so I have one for the bike height, one for standing, and one for using with one of my dining chairs. So I have options. Mine is big and very heavy and I did also get the casters, which is super helpful (especially to roll towards me once I'm on the bike.). I did need a neighbor to help me flip it after assembly!
I do remember seeing a sewing-specific desk that they sold, at least a couple years ago... not sure if it's less bouncy. They also had a desk for music stuff/music keyboard, and a few other specialty ones!

My dad made me a sewing table back in 1970. It has a cut out so I could drop in my old sewing machine. When I got my new machine, it no longer fit in the hole and it would vibrate a bit. When I got one that did English, it was worse. I found some thick shelf padding to fit under it and that stopped the vibration. It is dense and sealed, so it is sturdy. I don't remember where I got that.

I have a beautiful glass table that I use for art. I love it because the top tilts. It also collapses down for storage (but it's not easy to do so I just leave it up.) But if these sit-stand desks had been around when I got the table I now have, I would have seriously considered this. But it might be worth replacing my computer/writing desk sometime in the not too distant future (except I would miss my drawer space!)

Not sponsored but they gave me the desk as I stared in the video and I am using an affiliate link which is disclosed in the video description. I was not paid to make the video.

What size is this one? Also would you say an underdesk treadmill fits under it considering the bar thing at the bottom?

I linked to it. The size is on the website. I haven't used a desk treadmill, so I can't say.

Not all sewing machines vibrate a lot, most newer heavier sewing machines do not

Mine is older but heavy duty all metal. It doesn't vibrate on a dense wood table.
