@Annoying Yaoi Bish Bootleg Yeah, Mima actually coaxed Yuki into fighting alongside Mai after Mai suggested to take on Mima alone. Maybe Mima realized in advance that Mai was the stronger one, and brought Yuki in as collateral to keep Mai from going all out.

that is odd because if you look into the gameplay, Yuki often used her body to shield Mai from your bullets. Also general consensus by the fandom, Yuki is harder to fight than Mai, So who is the real deadweight here?

@@roberthasudungan1546 On retrospective, that's definitely right. I'm doing the PC98 games blind, and I'd somehow managed to unintentionally kill Yuki on every run I made of Mystic Square up until that comment, so I just assumed that Yuki would die no matter what.
I've recently ended up killing Mai instead more often than not, and yeah, Yuki is a lot harder. That bootleg Eternal Meek is a run killer.

Considering the song's name is "Treacherous Maiden ~ Judas Kiss", it seems like Mai is just clear-as-day a traitor.
Judas is known fairly well for being the one who betrayed Jesus (by kissing him so that the authorities could identify him).
The term "Judas Kiss" outside of the bible is used for a "traitorous action".
And the fact the first part is "Treacherous Maiden", which basically means "Traitorous Maiden" or "Betraying Maiden",
Mai is not showing any signs of weakness because there is no weakness for her now (which was Yuki)

"Judas Kiss" is often referred to as a symbol of betrayal, so I suppose the name of this theme implies that Mai betrayed Yuki after she was defeated, since her reaction implies so too.
The first part is also "Treacherous Maiden", or basically "Traitorous Maiden" or "Betraying Maiden", so.
It's undeniable proof that Mai is a traitor.

Mai (マイ) is a Witch who resides in Makai. Together with Yuki, she serves as one of two bosses in the fourth stage of Mystic Square.
When the heroine traveled into Makai during the events of Mystic Square Mai and Yuki were waiting for her. Together they attempted to prevent the heroine from going any further into Makai, but ultimately failed. Mai is the quieter of the two, but also seems to believe that she is stronger; if Yuki is defeated first, Mai will claim Yuki was just holding her back. (from TouhouWiki)

I am genuinely like Mai and Yuki's concept! I sincerely hope that Zun, the creator, will reintroduce these amazing characters in the modern Windows era. I am eager to delve deeper into their story and understand why Mai betrayed poor Yuki, as well as why Yuki holds such strong affection for her without realizing that Mai despises her...
I can see why its called "Judas/evil/betrayal" because Mai didn't even care that the player killed Yuki. "She was weak anyways."

Honestly, I kinda like Mai alot. Sure, she's an asshole, but she's alot different than the other characters, which is why I like Mima alot too. I guess.. She's just, more interesting despite the lack of backstory, if you get what I mean. I'm not saying that her cold attitude is a good thing at all, but I still like it. Also, didn't ZUN say something about Gensokyo being whatever we want it to be, which is why the characters tend to be so vague? I'll say this: I'll let you think Yuki died, I'll let you think Mai died, I'll let you think Mima/Yuuka killed them, I'll let you think that no one died, I'll let you think Mai didn't care about Yuki dying, I'll let you think Mai's just a massive tsundere, I ain't one to argue about headcanons. Just think whatever the fuck you want.

Everyone's talking about whether or not Mai's actually a traitor, or whether or not she and Yuki actually died, meanwhile I'm just thinking about how the art used for this thumbnail is like, not even close to what Mai actually looks like in-game.
I've seen the full picture and it's her in an alternate costume. But I still don't know why that picture was chosen for this video. My guess is because the picture chosen for Yuki's theme is drawn by the same artist and the images mirror each other.

I honestly doubt that, because dying in Touhou is like dying in Pokemon. Actual death is pretty rare, and it doesn't happen from danmaku battles.
Oddity Kid In both Mima's and Yuuka's scenarios, they kill several of the people they encounter. Technically, only Reimu's scenario is canon, but I think the information gathered from dialogue in other routes is still canon. And one can infer that Mima/Yuuka kills Yuki/Mai, so any dialogue between Mima/Yuuka and Mai/Yuki should be taken in that context that Yuki/Mai just died.
Even so, respawning and continues are completely canon in the Touhou universe, being nodded to several times. The fact that every character talks after being defeated shows that they don't die from the battle, aswell.
There is some uncertainty in the PC-98 games, though. And not every Windows character talks after being defeated.
