This is Ash from HealMyTech & I need your help. I recently suffered a STROKE (end July 2021) which has left me disabled for now (temporarily?), which may have been caused by the VACCINE ASTRA ZENECA. The videos were uploaded on my channel end August 2021. I have set up a GoFundMe, any donations are welcome.

  • @reggiewallace260

Q - Which of the front panel connectors wire are necessary to at least turn your computer on?
A - The answer is none of them are required. After installing the CPU, and RAM and connecting the PSU cables, you need only short the two Power Switch pins on the front panel block to start the PC. This can be done carefully with a medium blade screwdriver, just touch both of the Power Switch pins with the screwdriver,
As for the situation with the 3-pin Power LED connector....
Case specification several years ago. One of the changes was going from a 3-pin to a 2-pin connector for the front panel Power LED. This is why many cases today have a split connector for the + and - Power LED like you show in your video to accommodate older motherboards with either the 2 or 3-pin connector.
In the case of your MSI board, it has both 2 and 3 pin connectors for the power led to accommodate just about any computer cas you might be trying to use.
On your MSI board, the 3-pin connector is labeled PWR_LED. The 2-pin connector is the one labeled [+MSG-] your motherboard's front panel header. They are labeling it a MSG connector because in addition to providing a steady power-on light. it will also cause the LED to blink in sleep mode and provide other 'messages', using a pattern of blinks to show stuff like P.O.S.T. status or errors.
    Good luck!

Good video. I had a friend help me make a pc a few years back and while I was there when he did it, I forgot about the front panel connectors. Fast forward to a few months ago, I tried installing a better cpu fan and had to mount the brackets to the back of the motherboard myself. Removed the pins to take out the motherboard and didn't find out things were wrong until I noticed my case lights flickering like crazy. Finally solved it by switching the powerled + and - pins around.

The power LED and HDD LED connectors can only go one way. If you put it in incorrectly the LEDs won't light up. For power switch and reset switch, doesn't matter. They only short the two relevant pins.

I put in the POWER SW in the POWER LED slot by accident (I don't have a POWER LED to connect) and tried turning it on and it didn't go. I then put the POWER SW in the correct spot and everything seemed to turn on properly. Should everything be fine or should I be worried about a problem or a fried connector or something? Thanks!

Easy peasy to solve the LED/Power SW blablabla situation at the very beginning, time saving tutorial also. Because of you made this simple video and even I am completely brain dead about every single real knowledge of pc still able to understand, I smack the like button and write this long ass comment to express how I feel about this video.

LEDS (HDD and Power) need to be careful with polarity, (if you see an ARROW in the connector, it means its the positive), if you switch them, they wont work.
POWER AND RESET SWITCH doesn't matter if you switch them or not, they are momentary connections , some technicians activate them using a screwdriver or a paper clip just for testing purposes.
Front panel power and led doesnt matter if you mess up, nothing will break or burn, they just wont work.
USB CONNECTORS tho you need to be careful. If you switch them and you connect a flash memory based device like a SD CARD or a FLASH DRIVE they will shortcircuit and destroy it.
If your PC is brand new and you never tested before, plug in a cheap device like a USB mouse to see if it works. IF it does you can plug your flashdrive without issues.
Don't worry about back panel USB. Can't go wrong.

Once I "fixed" a power button switchnig the Power Switch with the Reset Switch... told the client to start using the RESET to power up his PC lol. just a hint if your power button broke or its stuck. If a hard reset is needed, just push the power button for like 5 sec and it forces a shutdown.

The pwr on/off Switch can be put any way you want, all the Switch does is to short the two pins. But the LED (short for Light Emitting Diode) will only accept plus on plus, and minus on minus, cause the diode will only allow current to pass in one direction

Also want to add that i would like Almost all comments here, this dude is a hero for explaining this in an easy way, and challenging you a little(like asking us to comment what we think will work/not) and also this guy does not have like 30sec if ads, and then 45 sek more with sponsor stuff, and then a noisy intro, just starts with the whole point of the video🤩

that the answer i was looking for lol . i have to remplace my mother board and realise that my power and reset connector + - was reverse for the last 7 years, so i was like ok does it mather or it is because my connector on my power buton is reverce too lol .😆 but most of time switch do not mather it is just to circle the circuit but bether comfirm on internet first lol.
