I think so; the base int scaling is two grades higher by default with the bonus of quicker casts, so safe to say definitely is, the requirement is 52 int though so you won’t be able to wield it as quickly as the demi.
Guys I just found the coolest thing. If you use the erudition emote and your wearing one of the three crowns the crystals on top will glow. And yest the twinsage glows both colors!

It’s also a solution to a puzzle in game there’s two towers I’ve found so far that require the erudition gesture. One just needs the gesture and the second requires the crown and the gesture to unlock the tower

where do you get the erudition emote?
The erudition emote is at the church of the cukuu when you get to the main legacy dungeon of the liurnia of the lakes area you take the left side and there will be a pathway past some sorcerers and you just do a bunch of rooftop jumping till you find a church looking building inside will be the emote. The two towers are also located in the same over world region they will have a statue of marika inside of them one has a obvious blue gate preventing you from going further that one requires the crown as well as the emote the second is just a empty building with the statue doing the emote will materialize a ladder letting you ascend. You have to do the gesture for a certain period of time till the ladder appears and same with the other but you have to be wearing the crown.
Fellow travelers, @7:20 turn around and go down the stairs and there's a door you can unlock that is a shortcut to the bonfire there. Also, I'd recommend just getting the helmet before the staff because that archer can absolutely wreck you.

Lol I feel bad, I just completed this area in less than an hour. I killed the red wolf in my second try he would've given me a run for my money but I wasn't going to let myself get killed by mut again. It's any easy area for a mage.

There's also a way gate just north of the purified ruins that teleports you straight to the grace outside the academy gates so you don't have to run through all those enemies
There's a hidden talisman right before the dog fight hidden in a illusory wall that increases the damage of your sorcery
So I found that room but there wasn't a talisman. I got the comet spell and a stoneware key

I used the Marionette Soldiers Ashes on the Red Wolf and absolutely wrecked him! I was using Rock Sling from the Meteorite Staff but I ended up doing more healing than spells cast. Highly recommend those Ashes for this fight! Started off a bit slow but a short ways into the fight and the Wolf's life bar was suddenly going down by quarters if not thirds!!

Just use the teleporter. No need to fight your way to the gates. When fighting the mages, patience is key. They will slowly move towards you, making them easier to kill.
(CLEARED) Level 33: Vigor 15/ Mind 25/ Intelligence 26. WEAPONS: Meteorite staff/ Lazuli Glintstone sword. 6 Mana 2 HP potions + Flask of wondrous (Crimson & Cerulean crystal tear). SPELLS: Swift Glintstone shard/ Loretta's Great bow. ((I used the Rock sling spell & Lone wolf ashes+4 "summon" on the Red Wolf Boss fight)) I followed the guide to the letter when just running past everything. ((I didn't kill the mini boss after the graveyard)) When it came time to kill things I almost only ever used the "Great bow" spell (full charge) It's range is ridiculous. If the target survived I finish it off with "swift glintstone shard". Twords the end I stayed on the chandelier and snipped all (3) enemies when they crossed the bridge. I did have to go down to finish them. ((HIGHLY RECOMMEND)) killing the crystal crab before the archer. (The Archer) I used the "great bow" spell (full charge) in the doorway. You should have enough time to do a second quick shot before he chases you. After that shot I ran away far enough for him to lose aggro and I shot him a third time when he was walking back to the treasure room. (Thoughts) this run sucks. It's very tough and im happy I only have to do it once.
Things to keep in mind… the head piece does raise INT, but lowers health. The Azur casts faster, and Lusat does double damage, but BOTH cost double FP. Meteorite will carry you well past level 60. I’m using the Demi-human +18 and it’s far and away the best. I’m level 100, 10fp & 2 hp +9 flasks.

@@TheHernaki No not by far. Azur, Lusat, Regal, Crystal, Rotten Crystal are all far better, but all require 52 Int or more.
get terra magicus spell
There’s a better helm for struggling players that is soooo much easier to get and it’s located right after the beast fight. Before you go roof jumping walk out and then go left (the area where the rolling death trap comes from). You can avoid everything and if you keep hugging the wall left you will find another shiny crab. Kill him and you will get the Karolos Glintstone Crown. It’s +3 int and gives you an extra 50hp. Not to mention you look like a badass out of Pirates of the Caribbean. Awesome guide btw! Used this to get the first one then just went exploring.

@@fernandovazquez1480 yep 1 reduces stamina the other hp and glintstone gives more int but reduces both hp and stam.
There’s one that increases int and endurance but reduces fp by like 8 points which is nothing, not recalling the name since im not home at the moment lol but gives +2 int +2 endurance
Bruh stop trolling. It doesn't give you any extra HP at all, it gives you +3 intelligence and takes AWAY stamina. Don't spread false information like this. It really sucks.

Karolos Crown? I found it on a random crystal crab nearby, similar stats but lower int and increases HP instead. Also looks cool but I'm just surprised at all these fancy crowns on crabs.
Rogiers set boosts glintstone magic. I personally use that and Lucats staff and a right hand sword with determination to boost spell damage. Edit : as of the recent update the determination method no longer works.
Just FYI Roger's set only increases glintstone sorcery SKILLS not glintstone sorcery magic. It's pretty misleading so I always want to call it out if I see the mistake

The Imp head is a decent start for Mages, Find it early in the Storm whatever cave. Meteorite staff will carry you far into the game but it's not the best
I haven’t changed off the meteorite staff. Which ones are better I have a bunch in my inventory

The Carion Regal Scepter is probably the best overall after its upgraded
First off, THANK YOU. Great guide. I happened to be in the Academy at the moment, so timing was great.
I was able to get the staff, and boosted it to +9.
Statistically, it does look better than the Meterorite staff.
INT scaling is S, Sorcery scaling is 306 vs. Meteorite's 258.
MY INT is 70.
All of that being said, where should I see the difference between the two? I'm really not seeing the Azur's staff performing noticeably better.
At 3:25 after you open the door there is a hidden door to the right of you. Just hit that wall and it leads to a grave area. Found it by accident. Your welcome.

Gonna be using the Azur and Lusat staves depending on when/where I need them. If I'm going for a boss, I'll be doing Lusat. If going through an area that has enemies aplenty, then I'll use Azur for that increase towards spell casting speed
I don't recomend you using lusat and azur staff at early and mid Game, they suck up too much mana. Use the meteoric staff until you have 40-50 mind
Great video but just a quick thing. The gravity boss in the graveyard is lowkey a hint… there’s a hidden path under the graveyard below the cliff, they don’t all connect but you can lure almost all the skeletons out to follow you into an environmental kill in the secret path, which leaves like maybe 5 dogs and the 2 marionette archers. Then you can take the lift up to grace and save, take the lift down to get whatever item/spell there is down there, then take the lift back up and get the gravity spell from the miniboss. It’s the easiest way if you’re under leveled/equipped as a mage
There's a travel gate at some ruins you can take to automatically transport you to the front of the gate.
Just a quick heads up there is a great armor set in the spot right before the gravity pull. You jump out the middle window on the right. Also the enemies you ran pastright before the dog fight there is a hidden passage on the left after you go up the stairs with a scroll for selline.

@@Ypelaar Carian Knight armor set. If you are looking for sorcery sets let me know as well. The 3 best sorcery sets are Azur's, Lusat's and preceptor. Rannis set is also good if you are going for lots of ice spells.

Got it, but the staff will take some leveling up to match the meterorite staff. That thing is an absolute beast.
You are the first person I’ve seen that uses the same cat helmet as me! It has pretty decent stats for the early game.
once you hit the soft cap the primal azure helm is better for the flat primeval sorc boost

Small tip, one of the little buildings just south of the academy has a teleport stone that takes you right outside the gate of the academy. This means you can kill all the soldiers from behind easily.

I was following this when I found an easier way at 8:26 if you jump across to the right and stay on the roof on the East side, after you kill the two guys, you can see the crystal crab and jump down from the wooden stand. Much easier.
I specifically made a magic build cuz every other souls games was more melee based. My one complaint is, I almost never find any good mage gear. Everything is catered towards melee characters. I’m 90 hrs in and only have a few cool things. Rock sling has allowed me to cheese the game tho and kill most bosses with ease by summoning and sitting back launching spells.
I found a staff in the south fighting this band of demi-humans. It was this Demi-human matriarch, and the staff has much better spell scaling. I have it upgraded +2 and the scaling is at 132. The astrologer's staff is base 100, and the staff the nobles run around with has like base 110. I leveled the noble staff to +5 and only was able to get it to 126 spell scaling. I don't know if my build will allow me to wield this glintstone staff, but it looks like it will be a beast to wield, so I might drop the extra levels on it.
The azure +5 scales 225, Meteorite scales 246. Azure is way better
When you level up intellect and the staff it does get better my +6 is s scaling and passed everything else same with the other crystal staff

Use Carian slicer on the two mages on top of the stairs. I just ran up the stairs and cut them to pieces. It worked like a charm.
After that i kited the adds out the door, and when i felt it worth the risk, i rushed straight at the mage and cut him down to easy. I promise.
Great game. I did a couple of bosses in DS 1, so I am what you call a newbie essentially. So i can attest to the fact. there is always a way.
I used Loretta's bow spell to just annihilate them from outside their aggro range. lol

Well the scaling of sorcery doesn't really matter. Meteorite staff is king. Notice the sorcery scaling is 60 on the glintstone but the meteor is 196. Sure, the glintstone can be upgraded, but I do not think it is possible to even get it high enough early or even mid game to be capable of comparing to the meteor staff. Just use the meteor. The helmet is really good tho.
All staves have 60 sorcery scaling when you don't meet the stat requirements to use it. Lucats at +9 and 60 int gets 300 sorcery scaling

There is an easier way to get here and you can get another helm on the way. If you go towards the tower with the holes in the floor, drop down two sets there is a crab that drops the lazuli helmut. If you continue dropping to the bottom and exit you will see the crab directly across from you. Climb the ladder back up and then jump onto the church's roof.

3:16 Those guys are easy. You can get more useful spells to deal with them from a distance, like the glint stone blade spell that fires a delayed sword across at an enemy. You can fire from behind cover.

the gravity well spell is the absolute bane of harpies and bats!
IIRC Azur's didn't get better than Meteorite staff until +8 or +9 (Though I am rocking base 70 int). But the increased casting speed is so nice. It may not look like much on paper but even a couple fractions of a second faster cast times dramatically increases the number of openings you can exploit against enemies. It also stacks with the cast speed talisman which really gives you some breathing room and makes using Adula's Moonblade to wipe out the trash so much easier! IMO Azur's is far better than Lusat's. From the tests I've seen people run Lusat's is a tiny damage increase for a whopping 50% FP cost increase (Azur's is in the vicinity of 22%). Even with heavy investment into Mind that doesn't seem worth it, especially when considering that Azur's can cast more spells for the same FP and can exploit more openings in enemy attack patterns. You'll probably end up doing more DPS with Azur's despite Lusat's bonus.
I always heard the Carian Regal Scepter was the best overall staff.

there actually is a shorter way to get to these items... closer to main gate.... theres literally a ladder to the 2nd floor after the first big bridge to lucaria after going up the elevator at main gate.
Thanks for letting me know that I should sit at Sites of Grace to refill my potions and such. Up until this point, I had played to level 104 thinking I had to die to refill my potions and heal. I thought Sites of Grace only leveled me up. Silly me. On my way to the third mandatory boss and my like 40th boss of the game, I really didn't know that sites of grace would refill your stuff. This was a super helpful hint, and definitely not the TH-camr just padding for time to hit the 10 minute mark.
Academy key location shown on the map is slightly wrong.
At the location indicated, there is a grace point. Key is at the rock formation a bit to north/west.
I use a shield with my mage and the Thops's Barrier Ash of War is a godsend for running through the Academy. You can just parry the Sorcerer's spells and use 0 FP when you do it.

@@AK-tu7ng No. You can skip Stormveil entirely by going up the hidden path to the east of it. He means the swamp around the Academy.
Right after you cross the rope bridge you can drop down to the left go up the short path, kill two marionette archers and get their summon.
Me being me I just did the grace sight first before the gate and grabbed the key and got a quick swipe on the dragon teleported back to the gate 😭😭💯

I use renala head piece because I already had 70 int since I rebiethed and focused my stats on that and the renala cap gives you extra hp

Got an idea build from YT to build a katana mage weirdly tho I started as astrologer and just threw few points in str/end/Dex now I’m 49 with 4 spells meteorite staff and I have the sword of night and flame( sadly I only have 13 faith points so far been trying to just grind till I hit 24 faith) to use a hybrid kinda build with magic n sword. If u guys just starting def recommend either Marika seal or the radgan seal or something I don’t the exact name but those two talisman can raise almost all ur stats by noticeable points although the down side is u get more damage taken again since my build is kinda squishy I don’t intend to get hit anyways.

snow witch hat gives 10% for cold spells, unless you have really low int thats more than 6 INT. (also there is a talisman for 6 int)

Idk what sword he is using, but I would suggest you to look at Rogier's Rapier if you are looking for a int/dex melee weapon for early-mid game

Great video. It helped a lot. I see other mage videos with people using this. I am currently wearing the default for astrologer head gear. My intelligence is at 99. When I compare the stats to the default and the twinsage crown the stats are for the most part better. Other then using this to get the cannon of haima spell, how would the twinsage be better. Not an argument. Just curious.
