Congrats on completing the Iron Butt. As soon as I heard you say, "I'll deal with that tomorrow," my heart sank as I knew the likely outcome. I did tbe same thing a few years back and forgot to photograph some of my receipts so I couldn't certify the ride. But I went and did another last year, had all the proper documentation, and finally got the certification. Trust me, when you do your second attempt, you won't forget to do anything! 😃
Really nice to have filmed your Iron Butt ride. Have you kept a list of your stops that you can send to Iron Butt Crew ? On my first or second ride, I lost my camera about 2/3 of the ride and had no proof, but with my list of stops and time, and a google map layout, I could show them the ride I did and my receipts had the date and the hour on them. I am in Canada and did a 1600 km, and 2 X 2000km in 2022. This year, I'm going to do another 1600km(1000miles) to see and then, maybe a 2500 km (1500 miles) under 24 hours or close. We do these rides because we can them and it feels good when we can talk about them.
Congratulations on yer 1k ride very well done. Yes we all seen you do it and never worry about the certificate, it's only a piece of paper 😊 I would appeal that decision on the grounds of having proof with the fuel receipt ⛽️ and petrol station names. Did you mention the name of your helmet ⛑️ l didn't hear it. Mines a Shoei with pin lock, great helmet. Enjoyed watching your trip, very well done.
Thank you!! I did appeal and did end up getting the certificate and verified 🙂 . I've got another planned in May, this time from Hull - Lands End - Penrith - Carlisle - Hull. The helmet is the Vcan V272 with built in bluetooth. Flip Front.
Have a very happy 50th today 🍰🎂, I watched this on your birthday, I hit 50 a couple of years ago, its all down hill from now on lol 😆. Seriously though, what an epic journey, congratulations for doing it, thanks for sharing and see you on your next adventure 🤟🤙👍
This was really useful to watch and learn from, so thank you. I've been umming over doing this for a while, and have decided to attempt the IBRSS1000 on the 29th Feb for the Leap year. I'll be on the FJR1300A, and whilst 300+ miles is doable, I found your video very interesting to see how the monotony of motorways will probably ruin me.
Thank you for your comment 🙂I'm doing another one in May (raising money again for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance). This time I'll be setting of from Hull to Landsend to Penrith, over to Carlisle then back to Hull.
@@TheEerieBiker I will certainly consider that. 22 hours of music would send me potty. I'm heading from Nottm, out to Skegvegas, up towards Newcastle, before a huge U-turn to Reading, then back of the Norwich coast. ETA 22hrs of mind numbing motorways.
Well done that's a great achievement and a great video. I did the RBL R 1000 this year 2023 you should look into doing that I'm already looking forward to 2024 run. Belated happy birthday.
My seat sucks. I think my butt will divorce me soon. I have ordered a memory foam seat thing and a sheep skin cover. Happy travels Sir! Thanks for the video.
Bloody good effort sir ! Well done on completing it though , pity you missed a couple of details that deprived you of your stickyfoot ! I've just been on the iron butt website to have a gander because I quite fancy doing it myself as a personal challenge bit like doing Hardknott last year when we caught the tail end of a hurricane from across the Atlantic 😐 Happy Birthday in advance 🎉
A great watch! I was heartened to hear it's not just me that talks shit to himself on a long ride. My highlight, as I write this, was you even made the 'little legs' sound at 22:40. You're a top banana matey, oh and well done (although I haven't got to the end yet).
Thank you. On the plus side. I've been intouch with Phil (the pres) and sent him evidence, witness statement and video log and they will verify my ride! Wahooooo!!
