    If you are ever near Sam Diego, there is an Ethiopian market called Awash , you give them a phone call an hour ahead of time and they will roast and even grind your coffee , and it’s only $12 a pound , not sure what kind it is but at that price I don’t ask , personally I just throw 2 teaspoons into a cup and let the ground sink to the bottom , it tastes like tea.

    Ethiopians are great for people who like light roast coffees. Most people prefer a medium roast because that produces a traditional coffee flavor. If you don't like fruity and floral coffees you probably won't like Ethiopian coffee. Try Guatemalan instead, they are more nutty and chocolaty.

    Very informative :) Oh one suggestion, lower the audio frequencies of the BGM around the 1khz~ 1.2khz area. It'll prevent the sound from fighting with your voice.

    Sadly here in ethiopia we get the shitty rejects that are picked out from the high grade export coffee

    Quick question on the volcanica? I brought and it smelled unbelievably great. I used an espresso machine and it tasted “burnt”! Is espresso a bad choice for volcanica? If not then what do you think is the best way to brew?

    • @JayArrCoffee
      @JayArrCoffee  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would be surprised if it was actually a burnt flavor. My concern with using for it espresso is that it probably is actually an under roast for espresso.
      Have you tried an Aeropress before? It’s only like $30 on Amazon and is super easy to use. A great brewing launching-off point for those trying to appreciate new single origin coffee!

    Is there an Ethiopian coffee that starts off using the DRY or NATURAL process, and finishes with the HONEY PROCESS?

    • @DwFritz23
      @DwFritz23 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, the honey process is because the mucilage is left on during the drying process.

    • @jakobw135

      @@DwFritz23 Isn't the MUCILAGE on the coffee beans WHAT is fermented during the Honey Process?
      Also I was told that the Natural and the Honey Process are really one and the same - is this true?

    I'm really trying to enjoy ethiopian coffees and I have 4 types of beans from Onyx and it just tastes so acidic and sour. I hope it's just that my pallet hasn't yet adjusted to understand the taste yet. I feel I miss that umami taste italian style coffees have. It definitely tastes interesting but I can't dial in the taste perfectly enough.

    • @johnnynighthawk156
      @johnnynighthawk156 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you taste sourness, it could be variables from how you brew it (temp, grind size, brew style) or your roaster just have bad beans or roasting technique. The acidity from good ethiopian beans tastes fruity and floral that comes with the nutty or tea like taste of the coffee. It should not taste vinegary.

    • @TheBigDean18
      @TheBigDean18 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah your temp is probably too low, or grind size too course. Or your ratio could be off

    • @Submersed24
      @Submersed24 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@johnnynighthawk156 Yeah my brew was too course then. Also, it does still have a signature ethiopian fruitiness to it that I'm just not (mostly) into. I'm a huge columbian fan though. It has that smokey full pallet feel that ethiopian doesn't seem to hit for me

      Coffee found in Kefa not Harar

    • @kickrocks71
      @kickrocks71 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Coffee was first found on Kaffa, Oromomiyah. The Oromos and Hararis worked closely and marketed coffee to the Muslim and Arab world to keep them up all night praying to Allah. Harar was never a part of Somalia. It is a distinct state with a distinct language, culture, and history. Although Hararis and Somalis undeniably have historical and familial connections.
