I’m so happy you made this video for me to remember the feeling… I was in Paris for a few days before and for a few days after the opening ceremony. We saw the ceremony, went to two games. We got to go to the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower. We saw the outside stadiums and heard/ felt the people cheer. I felt safe, happy, connected to the world and excited. I wore my country colors/flag and saw the pride in other people’s flags and colors. We went to eat at one of your recommended restaurants and had steak frites. It was absolutely the time of my life. Loved being in Paris for this special, special time. Thanks, France. It was amazing! ❤️🇫🇷🌟🇵🇷
My wife and I left Paris on the 18th of July, I hadn't expected the streets to be so quiet?! We hope to be back in Paris sometime next year. Hope to see more updates of the games, thank you.
I literally grew up on all continents except the poles and there are so many cities I’ve loved, but none comes close to my hometown ! Paris je t’❤!!!!!
We visited from 27-30.7 and attended five events at four venues, plus walked over 47km during our stay. Bobby was right about how these are historic events and I feel Paris was a perfect host city. Already planning another trip next year!
revenez vite . mais ne resté pas que sur paris car ca sera dommage . il y a plein d'autres ville cool a voir proche de paris :) comme lille , rouen , metz , nancy , lyon
You are the best lucy! Please be safe and sound . You your life in episodes make for a better place in this world .. as always your voice and actions make all better!
Was in the in late July and saw three different sports. The atmosphere was amazing and super positive. My hotel was within the QR-code area but police officers were super nice every time we passed by and the presence of a lot of international people, police plus military, made me feel safe. Paris made a great job and it wil lbe remembered for so long by all of us who attended. ❤😊
Hi Lucile! We just returned back home from Paris. We stayed in Batignolles thanks to your videos. What a nice place! Thank you for your videos and tips, it was very helpful.
Bonjour,New subscriber from Toronto and I enjoy all your observations of the amazing Olympics. Paris did such an amazing job hosting! Been to Paris 2X and maybe agan next year so will be browsing all your content as residents living in Paris with all the inside tips. I actually retired from work on the opening day so was a special memory for me. Au revoir.
Thank you for the great videos! My family learned a lot of what to expect when we visited for the Olympics. It was our first time in Paris, and you made us feel ready. The games and Paris were incredible! Merci from Nashville TN USA.
Thank you for always thinking about us ,taking me on a journey most people never get the chance to get. luciile, and Bobby thank you from the bottom of the my heart.you 2 are super awesome.have a great day in Paris.
I recently found your channel and do enjoy it. I live in metro Atlanta, GA and have since 1994. I did attend the Olympics here. A lot of people left town and rented out their houses for the games. This was really before remote working but Atlanta has heavy traffic and it was the best two weeks of traffic we have had since I moved here. Also July weather here is typically very hot and very humid, but during the games the weather was really nice with miler temperatures. I went to beach volleyball here and yes the Brazilian fans are incredible! I hope you really enjoy it.
The Olympics in Paris have been beautiful. For instance the Olympic Flame in the balloon rising--gorgeous. Also the whole section culminating in the ighting of the flame, with the French athletes. Also, I appreciate that you guys go to a bakery in almost every video. Respect.
Loved hearing your Olympics experience. Here in USA reports can be so negative. I have been to Paris once and ADORED everything about it and wanted to move there. Thank you.
Thank you for this, Lucile. I used to live in the 17th near the Parc Monceau too. I was between Ave Niel and Bd Pereire. Great to see so many familiar places as well as an overview of the Olympics. Merci, merci!
"It's so beautiful it looks fake." I was thinking the same thing. The Eiffel Tower background was unreal. I liked seeing the Olympics from a local's perspective. Thank you.
Merci de ce reportage intime et particulier. Un jour, j'aimerais avoir le même niveau en français que celui de Lucille en anglais. Bravo et Bonne Continuation !
This summer will be remembered by the rain in Paris ! We went to the French Open (Roland-Garros) as tourists in 28.May.2024 when we arrived in, it was raining ! I thought the May may be raining and reckoned that late July would be free from rain in Paris but no, even in late July when the Olympics are starting out it's raining again But let me tell you, Paris is still nice and memorable with the rain too.
It was the same in Sydney (except for the rain 😅) Everyone expected traffic chaos (Sydney is very congested) but it was great. Everyone I knew left Sydney but later regretted it 😂 It was the best time, I imagine Paris is amazing now, soak it up!
I remember your last video and I understood some of Parisian's hesitation. I am so happy that Bobby convinced you to stay and that you soaked it all in! My home Los Angeles is next and I'm definitely not going to give into the scare campaign of the crowds or traffic! It's going to have its problems, but its definitely going to be worthwhile to stay and enjoy this international event :D
I'm surprised how un-impackted paris is by the "j-o" I'm a street musician in paris and I was scared that I'd be unable to work as it was hard running up to the opening event, but it's been amazing, aside from being searched twice its been just as normal.
Reading reports in the UK of empty restaurants and hotels over in Paris which seems pretty bad. Loving the coverage though. The city is putting on a great show.
I'll probably never attend an Olympics unless it's where I happen to live at the time. The closest I've come was when the winter games were held in Vancouver when I lived in Seattle. It's close enough that in theory I could have gone for the day and returned that night, but it would have been overwhelming, especially the border crossing, so I didn't. This seems like fun since it's literally in the city that you live in. It would be crazy to not try to see at least a little of it when you're there. I try to see some of the US Open every year, during the qualifying week preceding the official Open, when it's free but you can still see some high quality professional tennis. In fact the beach volleyball stadium looks a lot like some of the newer US Open stadiums. Only, it had a somewhat nicer backdrop. 😊
Was the rest of the city operating as normal? Were shops, cafes, museums and restaurants still open? If so it might be interesting to visit at this time as while I have a great interest in seeing Paris but I have no desire to see the Olympics.
Lucile I am curious how the Olympics have affected local Paris businesses? You showed very empty neighbourhoods. Do the tourists go there after events? I am just concerned about small businesses being disaffected due to the intense security for the Olympics.
I’ve been watching the Olympics but only for my team (Team USA of course) and for the Women’s Basketball 3x3 team. Sadly, the first 3 games they lost but they’ve won the last 2 games….so I’m hoping that they can win some more because one of the athletes has received so much hate this year. So she needs this win more than anything.
@@LucileHRI watched the opening ceremony on tv and I personally loved it especially John Lennon’s “Imagine” being played….it made me tear up. Also, the only bad part was that my favorite athlete on that team, actually got sick during the opening because of the rain yet despite the first 3 losses she still outplayed her teammates.
Loved the opening ceremony, original and very French. Some just love to get their knickers in a twist. Loved the headless Marie Antoinette’s. The bike riding down the Seine was amazing. I thought it was wonderful and a little crazy. Just magnificent. ❤❤
I don’t say this to be offensive because I love your channel but these Olympic Games were a disgrace. From the distasteful opening ceremony (I had nightmares with that beheaded Marie Antoinette) to the logistics, there are multiple reports from our delegation all over media about the terrible living conditions, the boiling buses, the time it took them to get to the arena and the lack of suitable food. Some of our athletes had to leave the Olympic village and go book hotel rooms so they could have AC and adequate, high protein meals.. It doesn’t look like a lot of fun for the locals either.
@@LucileHR We are all very fond of our swimmer golden boy and everyone was upset and outraged hearing that they had to move because of the living and transport conditions and so did the S Koreans. The athletes’ expefiences are obviously different from a local’s but I didn’t understand why would the organizers provide no AC in the rooms and on the buses during a heat wave and why force athletes to go vegan for 1/3rd of their meals. 😳
@@surlespasdondine I’m in Eastern Europe and we do have AC in many homes, I’m surprised to hear Western Europe doesn’t. You do in most hotels and B&Bs. And for sure the athletes’ accomodations and buses should’ve had AC.

I'm here for the olympics and was expecting a happier atmosphere-- something similar to Athens 2004 or London 2012. The french are excited about their own team, but somewhat uninterested in the Olympic spirit as a whole. On top of that , the social and political situation does not add up.

My family watched the opening ceremony live from our house in New Zealand. We absolutely loved it. Bravo France!

Hi! Love your videos! Just wondering, what section/block/row were your seats for the volleyball game??
Isn’t the stadium where they held volleyball a temporary structure?

Salut Lucile. Ou est-ce que vous avez écouté que Céline Dion habitait à Batignolles?
Coucou ! Elle logeait au Royal Monceau, pas trop loin de chez nous du coup les gens du quartier en parlaient :)
