He took off and I followed, he finally pulled over.. got out and was peeing in the middle of the street with his pants on the ground while cars were swerving around him. The whole time I was on the phone with 911. The guy ended up passing out.. I waited over 3 hours until the police finally showed up after calling them back numerous times. Luckily the guy stayed passed out the entire time.

Police officer vilifications, spineless politicians going along with mobs demanding the defunding of police departments and generally making the job of police officer less desirable has created a situation where good people avoid becoming law enforcement officers, while current officers seek early retirement or move to a less hostile work environment. Recruitment numbers are dwindling and those who remain on the job are reticent to put themselves in dangerous or controversial situations

Criminals know there are few cops. When you go to wal-mart, 99 cent store or motel 6, there is a spotter there for a jacking crew, they text the crew when they spot an easy mark. For now they look for low lifes, homeless, and people who look like they on dope, those who are not likely to call cops and wait 6 hours for them to show up. Most jacking crews don't use weapons, they sneak up or use a ruse to get close to the victim and punch them as hard as they can unexpectedly, hoping to knock them out or daze them enough to get wallet, phone and knapsack if they have one. If they have a car they will follow victims hoping they go somewhere with little traffic or people. They are careful, knowing that jail or prison is not a good place to be right now.

it shouldn't be about the money. if you have people who wouldn't be cops going into it just for the dollars, they'll be looking to skim all the dollars they can, whether from "overtime", corruption, extortion, taking evidence.
there are too many temptations in this work for people who are just there for the money, and people who want to make a positive difference in their community should be paid well, but that desire should come first

It has always been that way for LAPD. And while I, a Police supporter, will never say LAPD has the best history, they still managed to keep the city going from bad to worst. (Except for shit like Rodney King and OJ Simpson, they messed up REALLY badly on that)
The thing is, in my opinion, LAPD in recent years have improved their training and tactics, and it might be a VERY controversial opinion, they have the best training right now.
Yet, they still suffer and it will get worse in the future. The people should blame the individuals who fuck up, not the entire department. Sure, American policing is far from perfect and has areas that has to be improved drastically. But this kind of attitude will only make things worse.
