Thank you for your telling of such a vast recording career that encompassed the great recording spots of the US. A mentioning of the other great players spot lights all that bring the music to our ears.
Hi, Lee! I came across this post of yours two years too late. Skip Ewing popped into my mind today, and this video came up in my cue. I have loved his music since I first saw him on Nashville Now when his first record(s) hit. Thank you so much for this video. Such a great artist. Learning now that many of my absolute favorite heartfelt songs performed by Diamond Rio, Colin Raye and others were written by him says a lot.
WOW, beautiful music, words, sentiment....love this music, Thank you for Skip Ewing today, another artist to add, thanks to your fine introduction Leland💞 Have fun at your session today. I'm sure the pups enjoy the walks, more people to see and charm, lots of Spring smells😆 Peace for the Ukrainian people 🇺🇦💙💛💪☮️, may they persevere. Thank you Frontline workers 👏 Please stay safe everyone 🤗 and have a fun rest of your Saturday 😉👍✌️☀️🌼🐦 Lynne
Leland, love watching you play and perform yourself. And I love watching you feel the music and the lyrics of Skip singing and playing here- Skip is one of my all time FAVE Singer/Songwriters- his voice is SO Pure and SO Distinctively Different from anyone else, his guitar playing is just Beautiful, and his Songwriting is just Amazing
Lovely to see you, Lee - really enjoyed the studio glimpse yesterday - so delightful. Thank you for these beautiful songs from Skip - a lovely way to wind down the day.
Thanks again so much for all that you bring to us Lee. I truly appreciate you 🤗 My husband and a couple of our life long friends were able to get out last night to see the band Chicago!! Great show, it's been 55 years for the band this year. We sooooo love going to see all the groups from the sixties and seventies who are still out touring. Thanks again Lee.
Hey, Lee and all! I look forward to seeing how your yard looks after the renovation. I'll bet that there are plans to change things a bit with the new water distribution system installed. Do you care to share any ideas?
Love me some Skip Ewing... very happy you posted this. I didn't realize you were a part of it... I'm embarrassed about that, I should have recognized your 'touch'. 'The Door' is an all time fav. For a man to write some of the songs he has makes you wonder if he ever really smiles inside.
Dang it. Lumped up! Getting to this point. In ten days it's one yr since losing my wife of 33yrs. My life nosedived. This l.p. is what brought me out of it. Involving a life-changing event. I wrote 11 rough drafts in 3 wks. Then have been whittling down one \two at a time to fine polish! I am a little rough rt now cuz I was hoping to have at least a cover and an original recorded and mixed. I wish. Opportunity doesn't knock often for me. But I love you leland, you're great. Jackson Browne is my #1. I've been singing since 75 at 11 with my first grg band. Had top40 rock band in LA 83-85. Then life kicked me in the thinker. I can sing anything. Then the state held me hostage for 18 yrs.for a non violent, property crime. My wife Laurie was there when I got out in 2007. She was amazing. I really can't wait until I can honor her memory and life and her! By recording this eventually. Take it easy my brother. Peace Michael Kane
Ballads that leave you welling at the seams usually do for the fact that they tell stories about life. Life that we all live or remember living. They cause you to go deep and often resurrect emotions which ground you to the source. Amazing how that works! Really a good series today! Actually, everyday!!
Man...I'm just coming back from a miracle, daydream! I wish I had the chance to be in that room! I'm just a huge fan from way back. I'm polishing up the lyrics to the l.p. of original songs I'm working on. I just came across your post and daydreamed to be able to work with someone like you. Wow. I'm poor and on disability, so I am just working on lyrics. Meanwhile. While I try to scrape enough money together to try to get in a studio. Sorry Leland, I'm just very pumped up
Was thinking that the Energizer Bunny should be carrying a bass given your stamina, and then I remembered he plays a bass drum-- and I believe you said that was your first band instrument. At last! I have figured out the secret!!
I've known Skip Ewing all my life....he's my cousin. His dad, Jim, was a Doctor. His mom, Beverly, was a teacher at Redlands High School. His sister, Tina, is still living, but not in Redlands....I won't say where, for privacy reasons.....Skip, back in the 80s, used to bring his guitar to the annual family Christmas party, and he'd play for us all.... "It all started with a frog and a dog on a bump on a log deep in a bog......" A bit of an improvisation, if memory serves..... He let us all play his guitar.... There's many musicians in our family, myself included. I hope this helps. Sean Hughes
Mr Sklar, I wonder if you ever did a session or work with Garth Hudson.I know there is a school of thought that he is the finest musician of the Rock era. Two geniuses working together would be a magical experience for anyone to witness!
A question for you on those pauses Lee: Do you rack the videos before playing them for use during the video? If so, than I'll bet this is a cookie-related issue--so TH-cam doesn't have to stream video to you when you're not actually consuming it. Those pauses, which always seem to be in the first 10 seconds or so of the song when you play them for us, may well be TH-cam buffering the video when you play it yourself (not in the video), and then you stop the video. So TH-cam's server algorithm buffers the video for a few more seconds, and then you go onto to something else...so TH-cam's server stops sending you the video...because why "serve" the video to a user who is no longer listening to it. In the early days of TH-cam, you could open a video link and let it buffer until the entire video was fully in a temporary directory on your machine--then you could play it uninterrupted. However in recent years TH-cam has stopped doing that: You click off the browser tab, and then stop sending you the video after a couple of seconds. So, are you doing this? Are you getting the video cue'd up so it's ready, then going onto the next one? If so, then I have a dollar that says this is the problem: TH-cam stops sending you the video because you're not consuming it--so when you go back to it when you play it for us, there are a few seconds of buffered video in a temporary directory on your computer...and then TH-cam's server needs to start serving it again. So you notice a little "glitch" in the video, which is the 1/2 second or so that it takes for them to get the video streaming to you again. Try this: Find the video, cue it up using the link. Then copy/paste that link into another browser and make sure the link does NOT have any timestamp in it (like "?t=8") at the end. In other words, make sure you're NOT trying to play a video that's partially buffered, or one where you have a timestamp at the end of it. The easiest way to do this would be just to copy/paste the video link into a different browser. You're a Mac guy as I recall, so then use Safari and Chrome: Use Safari to scope out the videos you want to play, and then copy/paste the link into Chrome...making sure that the video URL doesn't have the timestamp ("t=...") at the end. I bet that's the problem.
😮😮. After a deliberate amount of thought, it has occurred to us that we also have a brown bannister in our lives-- regrettably scuffed by a certain John Mayer Kitty (spotted/striped star of his own video short).
Doing a little catching up. These are all great songs, and your playing on the first three songs is so melodic. Then the last one tips more traditional root and fifth country bass line, but just what the song needed. Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦 Stay safe and stay well!
I am blown away with the sound quality your getting with the bose and the Iphone. I am puzzled about the drop outs though. Can you share what source your using? It appears to be the source that is dropping your signal.
"Karen" had a very heavy J.T. influence. Mostly in the music side of things. Sounded like a very similar chord progression, possibly even the same key as "Mexico".
I think the first lady in that supermarket in Florida was named Karen that someone was saying to her the store policy is wearing a mask and she was utterly defiant early on in the pandemic and she along with Mango starting the Liberate Wisconsin and Liberate everything so he could get re-elected shaped the failure of herd immunity for the pandemic!!! Also made Karen a NEGATIVE name. I love the name Karen so all Karen's do not think that bad apple shaped my view of any Karen. The Karen's I know are all great people too!
Nice visit Lee! Thanks for sharing Skip with us!!
Evening Lee and all
Greetings from Zaragoza, Espania

There’s lots of great playing in the previous videos, have you checked out those?

Good evening Leland and everybody
Just read where Danny Seraphine original drummer for Chicago suffered a heart attack in Hawaii. We lost Mickey Gilley today, 86.

Today’s selection highlights the depth and diversity of Skip Ewing’s songwriting. He also has a perfect voice for his style of music! 🙏

Leland, thanks 😊 for Your Revisit to Skip Ewing, new to me yet sounds so familiar. Thank you. Happy Mother's Day weekend to All!
Favorite Skip Ewing song: The Coast of Colorado.
😊 I bet it is tough with the boys missing the yard, and the work arounds dealing with just that.
Skip, 😃
Great video.
Oh my first song beginning reminded straight off ..( Time in a bottle). Jim Croce….💜💜
I used to listen to Skip 30 years ago or so but have kind of forgotten about him until I saw this video. Nice re-introduction. Great songwriter.
My gosh--the players on this album are just superb!
By the way, thanks for the lead on Hiromi! Spent nearly 3 hr.'s last night being blown away by her talent WOW!!!!!

I did a Terence Trent D'Arby album with Garth.......
