Hahahaha! Did he say the garage doors were installed in 1992??? Yup that’s what I heard too. Guess they didn’t hear him say that. Listen up next time.... lol
Wow. Can't believe the negative comments you got about your garage door insulation. You did a great job on it. Anyway, I love your videos. Stay positive and keep up the good work. 👏👏👏
WOW...people love to criticize. I live in Texas. The dang sun sets and shines on my garage door for the last 3 hours of the day. being in the garage is miserable. I am going to do the EXACT same thing you did because it seems to be the most efficient way of doing it. Thanks man!!!
Your Rant skills are a natural talent (more please)! Always like a good rant & sarcasm is the icing on the cake! Your garage your modifications it's so simple a concept. A man's garage is sacred space, f&%K off trolls! 1992 was a very good year! Thanks for a great video!
Just watch part 2 , didn’t know this was out there. I watch the first one about ,what ,2 years ago . Let me say this: it was a great idea. I ordered panels from Amazon and they work great. Easy to install, $160 for 2 garage doors. Well worth the money. I also had the garage attic blown insulation 3ft thickness. Warm in winter and cool in the summer.😎 unfortunately you can’t please everyone. I would like to call it for what it is with these negative people but I’m trying to be somewhat nice here🤬 I’m so glad I seen your first video because it saved me so much money instead of buying insulated doors. I have learned so much from your videos 👍 thank you for all you do sir. You and Ms Vickie are true Patriots 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I just did my garage exactly the way u did yours June 2020. And all the neighbors in this street saw me doing it and NOW THEY r doing. The Exact same way. Its not worth it to even answer the haters comments. Great job.
thanks mine installed 1990.insulated 7years ago. added weight for sure. no opener manualy operated .so far no issues. love the vids.thanks for your time.
I just finished doing the insulation on my garage door. The warmth difference this makes is more than worth the time to do it. I appreciate you sharing your project with the rest of us DIYers.
Loved your video. Got some good information and a chuckle to boot. I’m a 73 year old senior. I insulated my double door garage doors and find it quiet and brighter with a white plastic washable coating . My neighbor told me I added 50 pounds, and should get the door balanced. I think it operates just fine. Maybe I’ll find out how to level it on my own. It’s quiet. My door bakes all summer long in the heat. I see a marked improvement in the interior. You don’t need an insulated garage to see a difference. Thanks. Helene
I have been doing TH-cam for over 9 years, and sadly, when it comes to trolls, every Creator has them. Just ignore them. Once you feed them..... They keep coming back...
After I watched your installation video, I decided to insulate my garage door on my 6 month old house. I got the material in January 2019, did not get time to install the insulation until then end of March ! No issues of additional weight, made a huge difference in "R" values both in winter and summer temperatures. I'm glad I did it after watching your previous video. Thanks for the nice video. All those Garage door installers will go against this advise because they want to protect their business. Most garage door openers today are capable of lifting additional few pounds with no adjustments needed.
The sarcasm is funny. I will be doing that to our garage. It is heated by baseboard heat and I wouldn't be surprised if our garage door was installed when it was built - 1963! The garage never gets below 35 degrees. I look forward to it being much warmer and allowing the baseboard heat to be more effective. Thanks for both videos.
Great job Mark !! I did the same to my garage door 12 yrs ago and I am so glad I did. Never had no problems with it either ! Use it about 6 times a day !
I have been thinking of insulating my garage door and was watching your first video. It seemed doable. Although my door is a different type of door I found your video inspiring as a home owner. I still plan on doing my doors to. My doors are the rollup style which makes it a little bit harder to do. As for the weight you added to your door. If the door opener and springs are install right. there should be no issues with it. I have installed a 1/4hp on a 10 foot wooden door and was told that it was way too light of an opener. I told them if the spring or springs were setup right it shouldn't matter on the size of the opener. It has been working for the better part of 20 years now. and the only problem I have had was the rollers weren't lubed often enough. So kudos to you and keep up the good videos and keep calling the negative commenters out for the fools they are.
I love your sarcasm, it put a smile on my face. It’s your house, your garage door, who gives a rats ass what people think about the insulation. You did a great job which got me thinking I should do mine. Thanks for the video, I for one appreciate it. After watching the installation and this one I’m now subscribed. 👌
You Sir Are My Kind Of Guy !! Common Sense And Ingenuity Will Carry The Day ; Some Times You Have To Do The BEST You Can With What You Have Or Can Afford ; AND You Tell IT Like IT IS !! THANK YOU !!!! Your Video Helped Me Make Up My Mind On How To Insulate My Door ; I Will Do Exactly What You Did !!! THANK YOU !!!!!
Kirt Dickley. I think your garage door insulation was great. I don't see why anyone would complain. Many people just like to complain and make themselves more important. Garage door installer companies are probably jealous because you show a homeowner how to do it for $75, and a company would probably charge $500 or more to do it. I've been planning on insulating my garage for years. Now that I've been retired for a couple years and finally have been getting a few things done, I'm going to insulate my garage, thanks to you. Great you tube class.
"my door my house, don't care..." lol I love your idea! Don't listen to the nay sayers."did I mention it was installed in 1992?" lol great video and yes I watched the 1st one. why so many critics? Thanks I will try this if I get the time and money.
You did a fantastic fantastic job. The bad comments are just from people who didn’t make money off you. The door and opener will probably be there for another 30 years. Looks bad ass though and I’m sure the insulation is serving it’s purpose way more than what anyone expected. Please keep posting your DIY projects because it’s innovators like you who help others like us learn or innovate on our own .Thank You so much for sharing. Please don’t stop sharing your knowledge.
We love it! It made HUGE difference in the temperature of our garage that gets the HOT Arizona sun in the afternoon. Our neighbors were so impressed that they are going to do it too.
did you use the 2" board and on what side did you place the foil? I live in Orlando and other videos I watch show the foil side towards the front of the garage
That’s awesome. I watched your first video and plan on doing the same to my door. The weight is negligible. I’m actually surprised that people went goofy over it. It’s foam.....not bricks. Well done sir. I’m glad the door is working for you.
Great video…this is a great parts 1 and 2. I have heat from the morning sun and plan to do the same as you have done. Once the sun hits the garage door it’s like the oven was turned on and the heat is there all day. I’m a self do’er also to save the labor cost. Ignore the hatred…Thanks for sharing.
Good for you for addressing the sad, miserable people that think it's their purpose in life to belittle others. It's a good video and you did a great job. Hey, screw em if they don't like it. It's your garage, your video and your channel. Do what you want!
I enjoy your channel and am sorry people can be so ignorant and rude. Your garage doors perfect! I appreciate your snow plowing skills as we have no plow service for our long 1/4 mile country driveway except my ATV and a plow blade and at 65 in the Lake Tahoe Area of California I wish we had your service! I can watch and learn! Thanks
Thank you for the feedback. First time I want to subscribe to a channel. Your straightforwardness is so refreshing! Wish you entered politics and fight for us plain folks.
Hey brother, don't listen to those haters. What matters is that you're happy with it and from the look of how the temperatures are performing inside I'd say you did a bang up job! I'm looking to do the same for my garage as well. Keep up the good work!
I have an attached garage. The house was built in 2003. It has drywall throughout. I looked in the crawlspace and no insulation in walls but the two facing the interior of the house. My only option is spray foam the one exterior wall and ceiling. I will use your technique doing the garage door.
Love the rant! So appropriate. Forget the idiots. You did a very well done, informative video. We who live in older homes do what we can with what we have.
My house was built in 1969. Our house is in NW Louisiana. It was originally a car port wide enough to park three Prius side by side. It has the traditional storage/tool shed at the far side. When we bought the house someone had already converted the car port to a garage. So, I have a brick interior. The garage is 19 feet deep. From watching your video your door is 4 panels wide. Mine is 6 panels wide with windows at the top. It is one big door! The vertical frame to the door cracked on one side pulling a hinge out. I had a garage door company repair that. They added a big channel to the door on that side. Nothing was added to the door on the opposite side to balance it. I have considered doing the same thing you have done. It is too humid and too cold in the winter to do anything out there. In summer it too humid and too hot in the garage. You can feel the temperature change in the house when the garage door is open on very cold days and very hot days. Have you done anything on the vertical sides of the garage door to get a better seal? Mine has a gaps near the bottom of the door on the vertical sides large enough that rodents can squeeze in. It does have the large rubber seal on the bottom.
I just want to say thank you for your video. I loved your response to some of the negative comments. I plan to insulate my garage door exactly the same way you did yours. Some people are going to be negative I don't care what it is. Anyway its your garage door and you did it the way you wanted it. Again thank you.
Say what you want. It's still a hell of a lot cheaper than buying an insulated door. Our garage in Alberta where it gets very cold is exactly the same as yours. I am planning to install insulation on our door. I was looking at the rolled up stuff but I like what you have done with yours. My daughter bought this house two years ago and it's completely insulated except for the door. Maybe the previous owner couldn't afford an insulated door. My daughter has been holding off hoping to save enough to buy a new door but it's very expensive. So I volunteered to insulate it for her. Thanks for the video. It doesn't matter what you post. There's always some armchair expert that knows better.
I’ve been worried because of all the people telling me how many problems i was going t have, but now thanks to you, I think I will also take my chances! 👍🍺
Some people just have complain about something and will nit pick about anything. I think you did a excellent job and I'm looking forward to doing the same to the door in my garage.
because of your video, i got inspired to get off my butt and insulate my garage door .. your version of the project is straight-forward and well thought-out .. don't let the haters get to you because they only know how to hate; they don't know how to appreciate .. keep the videos coming!
I still want another update on the temperatures inside the garage at height of the summer. You've inspired me to do this to my garage door. Love the videos!
Live in Florida and was researching how to go about insulating my garage door. (opposite of you...to keep the heat OUT for me) That said, your update had me in stitches!!! "did I mention the door was installed in 1992"....bwahahaha!! Love it. Listen, great job! Thanks for taking the time to show me how to do it. Best of luck to you and yours.
My takeaway : 15 pounds of insulation weight added & kept the same springs, 3:17 how easy you lift that up shows just what I NEEDED to start on my project and SAVE $300 on Torsion spring replacement can't thank you enough for solving my future spring worry- worry gone.
Nice overview. Your method, right down to the tape, is exactly what I was planning to do so nice to get a confirmation of the positive result before launching into it. Thank you
Thank you for your input and was looking to do the same thing to my garage door. I will be installing the same insulation the same way you did. Also like all the snow plowing videos. Please keep them coming. Jim N. Delaware.
I love it, did the same thing to mine, I have some gaps around the sides and I could have done a better job of filling the spaces in the door because I had to make the panel small enough to get it in. I should have cut small strips and put in the channels first before fitting the panels. I might fill the channels where I couldn't get foam board in with spray foam. It's an improvement from a plain metal door. The door is heavier and I will probably change out to higher capacity springs, will have to go through the weight calculation with a scale I guess.
This guy made the video like a boss! Because bosses don't listen to all the negative people who put up barriers not to do things, instead of actually doing anything.
Thank thank thank you for taking the time I add these bids. And I like how you addressed the haters. Many of the comments could have been received, but people offer opinions up on garbage can lids... go figure.
it's a good idea to replace the springs. your one is twisted. ace or true value sell them.,like $20 each. i had one broke and sounded like a shotgun went off. they are colored on each end so you use the right one. i've insulated mine 10 years ago and no problems. keeps noise down from outside also. i used the pink foam and painted it white.
DUDE. You're hysterical! I just found this video researching door insulation for a really old cabin in Nc. I love how you have zero fks for people's silly comments. It's been three years. You should really drive them up the wall and do a long term follow up video lol!! When you stood by the door and it didn't move I was crying laughing!! Keep up the good videos. Steve in Nc.
OSB on walls is good idea for the reasons you stated. You want to hang something you have solid mounting points. Also, springs will wear out over time and use anyway.
I would ignore the individuals that are negative and dont have facts. If the springs end up breaking in 10 years, you can then upgrade them. You do great work and many home owners have added this insulation and it's very common. Take care and just ignore the negative comments. Subscribed.
I do believe that you did a great job. I will be doing it the exact same way. I built my shop myself and am therefore the foremost expert on its construction. I approve of your method. Thanks for sharing.
Haters are going to hate no matter what you say or do. A youtuber Abraham Hicks said " On our tombstones we should all write: " I tried to make you happy! But, I failed. Because only YOU can make YOU happpy!" Miserable people have nothing better to do than look for negative instead of the positive. You motivated me!! I am going to insulate my garage door asap and I am building a shed that will have a garage door and I am going to save money by buying a non-insulated door and use your method to insulate it!! Thank you
Poor guy, you did a good job explaining everything and I even learned a lot from this second video even though you weren’t doing anything other than ranting. As somebody else said, there are people always who are going to criticize you and you really just have to ignore them and as far as the people who are professionals at whatever job you are describing they often times don’t know what the hell they’re doing ! thanks for the video!
Dude!!! I did the exact same insulation job on my garage door. My door looks exactly like yours, I put in insulation because of the heat it puts off. Just that cooled off my entire house during the summer months. I have no complaints only observation, the insulation job works incredibly well. People on the internet are mean because nobody knows who they are so they can say anything they want without showing face. Good job mate wished I saw your vid before I did mine.
I watched your insulation install video then moved on to "part 2". I just want to add my 2 cent worth to the good guy comments. Please keep making your videos and try your best to IGNORE ignorance! I saw one comment that said "you can't fix stupid" and they are so so right!! When you have time, keep doing what you said you do... delete them, block them or just don't waste your time... ignore them. Your followers WITH A BRAIN will understand. Blessings to you.
I'm very late here. My door has been up since 1994 and I thought this was a pretty good idea. I personally don't care what people think. Here's the thing, it sucks you felt the need to explain yourself. They don't pay the bills, they don't get a say. I appreciate you taking the time to put up a DIY video on this project. Good job on the rant though. I thoroughly enjoyed your videos.
I am laughing my gut off! Thank you for making this follow up video for all this know it all people that love to tell other people what to do with their property!! Love it 1992!!
Hi, great job you did in the video. I have one 8x7 metal gorge door. I want to make it a game room . I already put insulation and drywall every where. I also have two heater registers there as well. I need to insulated the garage door because in the winter it gets so cold sometime -10 degree. Please let me know what material and tool I need to in order make it work well. Thanks, Rashid
Majority of Garage door installers don't install the door right in the first place, as someone who used to do it for a living, had to fix many a bad door install. Your insulation job looked just fine to me and it worked out! As for the springs? Someone go and try replacing old springs on an old door with new ones and tell me how you get on...........lol Great job on the insulation :)
"Did I mention this door was installed in 1992?" lol
love it!
Geeds' Garage I forgot, when was it installed?
yea, that statement times 5 cracked me up. good job, lol

You did a great job which got me thinking I should do mine. Thanks for the video, I for one appreciate it. After watching the installation and this one I’m now subscribed. 👌
Your garage door looks like it goes up and down easily and evenly.... look forward to each new video! 👍😊👍
Well, because of your first video, I'm going to insulate my doors. Thank you for sharing your work.
I know bad comments can be a kick in the gut, but who cares, most people are just complainers, pay them no mind.

We have been getting snow every day and it looks like it will be lasting another week.
Do not let negative comments bother you. I think you did a great job, and I thank you for sharing your experience with us.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for these garage door insulation videos. I live in the deep south and I have got to do something about the temps in my garage

Great to hear what you had to say that you don't care what people say about your household. Love to know your concern is helping your household.
I watched your video and you inspired me. I did what you did with the door and I can tell the difference. You earned a subscriber!
because of your video, i got inspired to get off my butt and insulate my garage door .. your version of the project is straight-forward and well thought-out .. don't let the haters get to you because they only know how to hate; they don't know how to appreciate .. keep the videos coming!
Ignore the hate. Great project. Your home, your solutions, your benefit.
Enjoy your warm garage brother
I still want another update on the temperatures inside the garage at height of the summer. You've inspired me to do this to my garage door. Love the videos!
I liked your video. Plus if you insulated,it’s more comfortable to work in. AND you not opening everyday several times a day. I needed this .
I typically don’t leave comments... but my guy! Love this dude and his videos. Thank you!
I'm glad you liked the update video, I had a lot of fun making it.
My takeaway : 15 pounds of insulation weight added & kept the same springs, 3:17 how easy you lift that up shows just what I NEEDED to start on my project and SAVE $300 on Torsion spring replacement can't thank you enough for solving my future spring worry- worry gone.
Well done, Mark! I plan on replacing the tattered insulation on my door and will be following your lead.

Good job Mark, great video, love Alpena!
Double thumbs up on your rant; 1992 we roared. You did excellent on insulating the door and your rant, take a well deserved bow.
The humor is priceless and appropriate. Thanks
I love this video and your attitude. Congratulations!
Great video Mark, loved it....keep doing what you're doing the way you're doing it!
Subscribed.
You did a great job and inspired me to do mine
🤟1992, your garage and your project. Thanks for sharing!!
I hear that 1992 was a great year for garage doors 😀. I need to insulate mine too. Thanks for your videos and keep up them coming 👍
It’s a good thing you didn’t put the green side out. There’s no telling how the haters would of responded haha Nice job!
Got half my door done tonight based on your diy vid. Loved your vid so thank you and sorry about all the noise. Some of those comments were nuts.
Oh and if you plan to keep hauling sheets of styrofoam you definitely should upgrade to a 3/4 ton dually with a diesel. 😏
After you are done make sure you can open the door by hand just in case the power goes out.
Excuse me, but did you say when it was installed ? LMAO !!!
Mark, you can't fix Stupid !!!
Don't let them get to Ya !!!
Love your diy. Now I know we can do this project on our own. Thanks for making this awesome video.
Thank you, I really did have a lot of fun making this video.
Love this! Great job and I'm about to do the exact same thing to my garage! Thanks for posting!
I am laughing my gut off! Thank you for making this follow up video for all this know it all people that love to tell other people what to do with their property!! Love it 1992!!
Getting ready to do this. Watched a lot of these and love the way you did this! Thanks for sharing!
Someone go and try replacing old springs on an old door with new ones and tell me how you get on...........lol
Great job on the insulation :)
Great Job, inspired me to do my garage door ! 🌟 1992 ? 🌟 YES, 1992 💚 Thanks
