Increase the price point F it. I'd rather have a way better figure for another 5 or 10 bucks..

To answer your question about the Dark Redeemer yes he appears like that in the comics. Dark Redeemer (he's called the Forsaken in the comics) is a totally different character but the design is lazy because its obviously just a different color scheme.

I love this channel talkerart. your street cred is worth its weight in plastic and by the looks of it I think you got that street-cred pretty much on display. The old Cy-Gor 2 with the robo chimp in the belly is my favorite
You don't need fancy editing. A lot of other channels do quick run throughs that feel so processed and by the number. I kinda forget I watched them after. I like that you do a bunch of comparisons during a review and deep dives into your massive collection, while also making me laugh when you talk shit from time to time lol. My collection doesn't even come close to just a fraction of yours.
Love the honest review. I've had some issues with McFarlane Toys of late, the Batman Year 2 had broken arms right out of the package and can't stand, is very difficult to position on the stand with the large cape. An absolute disaster of a release. The Demon figure looks great but can't stand him at all, needed a stand. Hopefully he improves the design and QC on future releases.

I have being collecting spawn figures.for.years and this new ones are not what they use to be I don't care back in the day it wasmost limited articulation I get it but most of the sculpting was badass they were waaaay ahead of their time spawn figures was what got me back in collecting 20 years ago.

When I first heard Todd was doing DC, I was so freakin excited. In his days, his figures were quality beyond belief compared to what Toybiz was doing. The only thing that was a drawback for me was his limited articulation. I did not want small 5 point statues. I wanted toys. And now he was coming back with these awesome articulation figures. But Todd has changed, man. All he wants right now is stuff to sell. Sell, sell, sell. He doesn't care about scale, his paint aps on some figures are missing at the back or underside. They only seem to look great under certain conditions. Then to make it worse he goes and do weird design choices. That's why he has the 66 retro batman figures who are of different scale with the car and another scale with the playset; going into 6 inches and limited articulation. His batmobile is 10 years outdated. Now, he's releasing the DC animated and dc essentials. It's like todd is going to toy manufacturers and selling their figures for them. Now I see the McFarlane brand and it's a NO for me, until I look it over again some more for each figure and I might re-consider. But at this point I want DC out of his hands.

That new release Violator is so insane that I had to get two,.one for display and the other just stays in the box. Just got the Cy-gor with the removable chest, and chains and all I can say is,..dam.

I feel ya man with this Cy-Gor, i was excited about it since he announced it, but at this price point, the details are soft, the paint feels like just enough variation to look good at first glance, and i'm not that biggie on articulation, especially with Spawn stuff, i like the old ones very much, but dude, the inconsistency. As you pointed out, it's so limited, no finger articulation, elbows barely bend and such, then he put this loose fitting rubber diaper on it, like this ape doesn't care to move much, only in the hip region, but for some reason there it has to be flexible, like a female russian gymnast in her side gig. Looks awful. Not to mention i don't know if it would be better that much if that right arm wouldn't be stuck, looks like those wires already stretched out, and the material which they use isn't the most durable for this kind of a tension anyways. Thanks for the review, and for the honest thoughts!

At that 11 min and change mark I mashed the pause button and submitted my cancellation request from the ToddFathers store. It’s $65.12 shipped! The promo pic with all the paint apps on the back of the package apparently didn’t make the final cut. If the figure had stellar paint I would forgive the diaper mess. Smh this is disappointing. That’s a shame. Cygor is one of my favorites as well. He looks like you can only really get him in two poses that look good. I was happy with the Raw 10 version. I’m still getting this one but that’s a bummer. I really thought his fingers were jointed. As for the Dark Redeemer, this is actually a new character in the comic. His name is The Forsaken. I don’t know why they didn’t put his name on this figure packaging.
I'm really sad about the diaper thing and the no articulation in the hands. :( Mine is coming tomorrow. I love everything else about the figure (Cy-Gor's face is sooo badass looking) and like you, I also have every iteration of Cy-Gor, including the Adventures of Spawn animated style Cy-Gor. I'm in 100% agreement with you. I love Spawn and I'm actually now getting very close to completing the entire base sets from series 1 to 34 and those of the newer figures. So like you, I too have many to draw comparisons with and feel similar about the evolution of these new figures. I can forgive lack of paint in some cases, so long as the sculpts are bad ass. But some of these just aren't it. Especially in regards to the new Redeemer figure. Holy shit that sculpt SUCKS for a McFarlane. It's way too plain. Way too soft in details. No artistic expression whatsoever in the sculpt. Too rudimentary and generic. He's also wearing a diaper. He looks like he was produced by Jazzwares or Jakk's Pacific. Not McFarlane. I actually hate that thing and I own 3 now lol (one's for customizing it) the other is the platinum and one standard issue. It doesn't even sit well with the rest of the line imho. The only way to pose him, is with a flight stand. Any other way and he looks like crap. The mega fig Violator remains to be my favorite of the new waves. The sculptor really popped off on that figure and we need more of that energy in Todd's team of sculptors. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we're at least getting more Spawn figures. Just hope Todd's toy art director (the man in charge of how the figures actually look in the final stage) pushes for better detailing and no more diapers! lol I really wished they did something different with the gatling Gunslinger. Like at least give maybe some dark grey/charcoal black pants to help differentiate from the first Gunslinger. Something more than just a weapon change, you know? I feel like a total sucker buying another one... but I did anyways just to complete the 2nd wave. Also not happy to see the same Redeemer sculpt show up again as "Dark Redeemer". If it was a thicker rubbery plastic, and kept the same shape as the waist, it'd be a totally different story. This isn't that "NECA figs look like they have diapers on" bullshit (cause I don't think they do); *this* right here is a _whoooole_ other thing.
I'm pretty much on the opposite side of you with collecting wants, I never bought any of the old McFarlane stuff - I like the way they look paint and sculpt-wise, but I couldn't stand that they barely move or not at all, and I don't want statues. That said, I have to agree with most of your Cy Gor take this time.
That Cy-Gor 2 is in my top 10 overall list. I have one opened , and another boxed with a KB toy store price tag marked down to 12.99. I have it displayed with the chest cavity open and many people have commented on how they prefer it over the Mezco figures near by.

Yes the older gunslinger spawn definitely looks better and has better details but it’s pretty much a statue…. The new gunslingers look great and don’t have to be stuck in the same pose all the time

Funny video. I don't agree with you on the Gunslinger Spawn releasing too soon. The first release was a Target exclusive, so a lot of people missed out. You need to have a quick re-release so scalpers fail at their bullshit and real collectors can buy at retail price. Good work on the Cy-gor critique.

Dang yeah the articulation could definitely be better. At least some interchangeable hands for Cy-Gor would have been something. I think I’m still going to get one but not with the same enthusiasm but at least I won’t be surprised. I guess that’s why Cy-Gor wasn’t spoken of. And thanks man for telling us that Gunslinger Spawn is coming out with a horse! I didn’t know that, I was about to get one but I think I’ll wait now. Subscribed man, I like your review 🤙

When I first heard Todd was doing DC, I was so freakin excited. In his days, his figures were quality beyond belief compared to what Toybiz was doing. The only thing that was a drawback for me was his limited articulation. I did not want small 5 point statues. I wanted toys. And now he was coming back with these awesome articulation figures.
But Todd has changed, man. All he wants right now is stuff to sell. Sell, sell, sell. He doesn't care about scale, his paint aps on some figures are missing at the back or underside. They only seem to look great under certain conditions. Then to make it worse he goes and do weird design choices. That's why he has the 66 retro batman figures who are of different scale with the car and another scale with the playset; going into 6 inches and limited articulation. His batmobile is 10 years outdated. Now, he's releasing the DC animated and dc essentials. It's like todd is going to toy manufacturers and selling their figures for them.
Now I see the McFarlane brand and it's a NO for me, until I look it over again some more for each figure and I might re-consider. But at this point I want DC out of his hands.

I feel ya man with this Cy-Gor, i was excited about it since he announced it, but at this price point, the details are soft, the paint feels like just enough variation to look good at first glance, and i'm not that biggie on articulation, especially with Spawn stuff, i like the old ones very much, but dude, the inconsistency. As you pointed out, it's so limited, no finger articulation, elbows barely bend and such, then he put this loose fitting rubber diaper on it, like this ape doesn't care to move much, only in the hip region, but for some reason there it has to be flexible, like a female russian gymnast in her side gig. Looks awful. Not to mention i don't know if it would be better that much if that right arm wouldn't be stuck, looks like those wires already stretched out, and the material which they use isn't the most durable for this kind of a tension anyways. Thanks for the review, and for the honest thoughts!

At that 11 min and change mark I mashed the pause button and submitted my cancellation request from the ToddFathers store. It’s $65.12 shipped! The promo pic with all the paint apps on the back of the package apparently didn’t make the final cut. If the figure had stellar paint I would forgive the diaper mess. Smh this is disappointing. That’s a shame. Cygor is one of my favorites as well. He looks like you can only really get him in two poses that look good. I was happy with the Raw 10 version. I’m still getting this one but that’s a bummer. I really thought his fingers were jointed. As for the Dark Redeemer, this is actually a new character in the comic. His name is The Forsaken. I don’t know why they didn’t put his name on this figure packaging.

I'm really sad about the diaper thing and the no articulation in the hands. :( Mine is coming tomorrow. I love everything else about the figure (Cy-Gor's face is sooo badass looking) and like you, I also have every iteration of Cy-Gor, including the Adventures of Spawn animated style Cy-Gor. I'm in 100% agreement with you. I love Spawn and I'm actually now getting very close to completing the entire base sets from series 1 to 34 and those of the newer figures. So like you, I too have many to draw comparisons with and feel similar about the evolution of these new figures. I can forgive lack of paint in some cases, so long as the sculpts are bad ass. But some of these just aren't it.
Especially in regards to the new Redeemer figure. Holy shit that sculpt SUCKS for a McFarlane. It's way too plain. Way too soft in details. No artistic expression whatsoever in the sculpt. Too rudimentary and generic. He's also wearing a diaper. He looks like he was produced by Jazzwares or Jakk's Pacific. Not McFarlane. I actually hate that thing and I own 3 now lol (one's for customizing it) the other is the platinum and one standard issue. It doesn't even sit well with the rest of the line imho. The only way to pose him, is with a flight stand. Any other way and he looks like crap.
The mega fig Violator remains to be my favorite of the new waves. The sculptor really popped off on that figure and we need more of that energy in Todd's team of sculptors. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we're at least getting more Spawn figures. Just hope Todd's toy art director (the man in charge of how the figures actually look in the final stage) pushes for better detailing and no more diapers! lol
I really wished they did something different with the gatling Gunslinger. Like at least give maybe some dark grey/charcoal black pants to help differentiate from the first Gunslinger. Something more than just a weapon change, you know? I feel like a total sucker buying another one... but I did anyways just to complete the 2nd wave. Also not happy to see the same Redeemer sculpt show up again as "Dark Redeemer". Lazy. >:[

10:53 And _that's_ why I ultimately passed on Swamp Thing. First thing I noticed when I grabbed it off my friend's shelf, it's got a fucking thin-ass flexible diaper on. If it was a thicker rubbery plastic, and kept the same shape as the waist, it'd be a totally different story. This isn't that "NECA figs look like they have diapers on" bullshit (cause I don't think they do); *this* right here is a _whoooole_ other thing.
I'm pretty much on the opposite side of you with collecting wants, I never bought any of the old McFarlane stuff - I like the way they look paint and sculpt-wise, but I couldn't stand that they barely move or not at all, and I don't want statues. That said, I have to agree with most of your Cy Gor take this time.
For older collectors like me it's more about design detail shelf presence than articulation
That Cy-Gor 2 is in my top 10 overall list. I have one opened , and another boxed with a KB toy store price tag marked down to 12.99. I have it displayed with the chest cavity open and many people have commented on how they prefer it over the Mezco figures near by.

On the side weird how the Violator, King Shark and Swamp Thing are great figures ans some how he dropped the Mega Ball on this. Especially with no extra hands. It will be cool photographing him but then back in the box.

Yes the older gunslinger spawn definitely looks better and has better details but it’s pretty much a statue…. The new gunslingers look great and don’t have to be stuck in the same pose all the time

Maaaaan. I was really really really looking forward to Cy-Gor. Admittedly I don’t have the history with that character that you do, my introduction to him was the Raw-10 figure (which I absolutely love) and to see that diaper really sucks. I mean I’m still gonna get him cause it’s freakin robot gorilla, but that’s such a bummer.

Those joints can be tough. I use Hoppe's No.9 gun bore cleaner. Add a few drops to a q-tip and dab to fill joints for much easier movements.
Well I'm gonna pass on this whole wave 1.5 no reason to put out figures that were just on the shelves and then toss in a lackluster cygor. I'll grab it if it hits clearance but only then. I still like the statue type version and I may be happy with that one. Keep on keeping it real, that's why I keep coming back!!
My Cygor's right arm has the exact same issue. Glad I only paid $23 for it on clearance at Target. Its definitely worth the money at that price point.

Funny video. I don't agree with you on the Gunslinger Spawn releasing too soon. The first release was a Target exclusive, so a lot of people missed out. You need to have a quick re-release so scalpers fail at their bullshit and real collectors can buy at retail price. Good work on the Cy-gor critique.
