  • Six beloved hostages were executed in a tunnel beneath Rafah, leaving behind broken-hearted loved ones and a shattered nation. We must be clear about who is responsible.

Powerful words, rabbi. I’ll propose expanding the concept of responsibility.
Iran supports what Hamas has done and so do its satellite militias in other countries.
When looking at culpability on the Israeli side, consider that Israel has always been surrounded by forces hellbent on destroying it.
Maybe some other time, it would be interesting to explore the theme of “revolution” in that context.

The Rabbi talks about things she chooses not to understand. But then again, its easy to pass judgement from so far away when you don’t have to pay the direct price for your mistakes. Israel isn’t at war with Gaza, its at war with Iran and all its proxies. You let Hamas stand in Gaza, this only encourages Hezbollah, the Houthis and Hamas terrorists on the west bank to up their game. Shouldn’t that be taken into account?
Hamas will not come to an agreement without Israel completely withdrawing from Gaza. Where does that leave Israel if Hamas remains standing ? What do you then explain to the grieving parents, widows etc of the 340 soldiers killed in battle, that it was all in vain?
In 2011, Israel released from jail over 1,000 Palestinian terrorists in return for the captured soldier Gilad Shalit. Those 1,000, including Yaha Sinwar, have since killed thousand of Israelis. Are you Rabbi going to pay shiva calls to all those murdered by those you want to release in exchange for the hostages. The situation here in Israel is tragic, there is no easy answer, your solutions Rabbi lack depth. The Israeli government made some shocking mistakes leading up to Oct 7th, but they are not the ones who murdered, raped and pillaged. And they certainly didn’t execute the 6 hostages last week. That is all Hamas’s doing.

Am i really the only one who agrees with you? Read my response above. Why can't we be on our own side?
One should not take responsibility for things we are not responsible for.
The many years since before Nationhood where agreements were rejected should be a clue. Why do we think our viewpoint which negotiates in good faith, is so obviously good that they will agree to do the same. No this is not their way. Trickery and manipulation to buy time and squeeze their enemy psychologically IS their way for centuries. Are we do so "good" that we punish ourselves like ancient Catholic priests that whipped themselves mia culpa? Is there magic in taking responsibility that brings a good response? Obviously not.
I believe part of Western thinking starting with Freud, is to think the Palestinian HAMAS actions are simply RE-actions, rather than implementations of their entrenched belief system and ideology.
It's not like they woke up early on Oct 7Th and said, 'I just can't take it any more, let's go attack the kibbutzim nearby! ' This is not spontaneous reaction to oppression. They patiently planned to methodically carry out the MOHAMMED WAY, the warlord that began the drive to Empire. (Hariths) To gain money by conquering and submission and murdering of enemies to gain wealth.
See it for it's actual reality.
There was a modernizing of Islam that they deemed degenerate and cause of downfall of the last Islamic Empire (Ottoman). This caused reactionary return to severe fundamentalism that birthed Terrorism groups through Muslim Britherhood. ( No sisters allowed)
Wake up congregants of Ikar. See what's really happening. It's not our responsibility. It's not about the land. It's about loss of status, power, honor. It's a cultural and religious mandate.

Blaming the victim. Blaming yourself takes this to a while be level. Like an abused wife. Liberate your self concept. You can't control the situation by making yourself the cause.
