Very excited to sit down and watch this, and see where they ranked my all time favourite: The Knuckles Baseball happy meal toy. What a game. Let's hope it did well!
I genuinely appreciate that this channel puts so much effort into its rankings and is prepared to stand by contentious picks, rather than just WatchMojoing it for the clicks.
I never understood the “I don’t like this thing so that means no one liked it” thing. The chao garden is one of the most praised sonic elements and to say basically no one played it is absurd. (Please bring back chao garden sega)
I shook the shit out of coconut trees to feed my chao. When they would grow and evolve, and when I’d mix the right animals together to give the chao a badass limb and part from different animals, helping it while racing. I was hooked on Chao World. I even loved dropping them off to school.
I wish I could go back in time and tell my younger self how much time I would later spend on the chao gardens. Like..... words really can't describe how stupid I thought it was when I first played it.... Then out of nowhere.... it just.... I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN! Seriously, I remember at least 2-2 1/2 years of going to my cousins house every weekend, just to play the chao garden. Almost every night we'd waste like 4 hours, just tapping the button on the controller while watching TV to pet the chao, and I forget what exact purpose we did it for, but we'd prop the controllers up and rubber band them down to keep it running overnight(I think we got it into our heads that you had to keep moving for the game's timer to keep going) Fuck I miss the chao garden. Really blows my mind how they've seemingly just refused to acknowledge them for like 15 years now. You'd think there'd be a shitload of failed spinoff, mobile games and terrible attempts at redoing them over the years. Have chao even been a part of the franchise since sonic heroes? And even that feels like it barely counts since it was just a decoration for Cream, and the Omachao acting as a narrator.
FUN FACT: The Mean Bean Machine has been referenced in the 2nd Sonic movie, as it was the name of the coffee shop/secret headquarters of Dr. Robotnik. Pretty slick acknowledgement on the crew's part, if you ask me.
49:18 "Weirdly. nobody missed them while they were gone, and nobody's going to miss them now that they're gone again either" You've never met Sonic fans, have you?
Sonic generations being that low is absolutely absurd. There's no actual way heroes and mario and sonic at the London Olympics seriously got ranked above it.
Heroes should definitely have been lower, it's not a good game Instead of being "objective" and going over what the issues of the game are compared to what it did right, it was very opinionated, while it's fine for a ranking system it shows bias
Some games are ranked way to low I understand that everyone has different tastes but having racing games and the Olympic games ahead of generations is crazy.
I like the list but generations deserves better. For all the positives given to the pros vs. cons for games like unleashed or colors or adventure(s) or... Any of the other 3D ones. I feel like Generations didn't get that treatment somehow?
Looking through this list makes me think how much of a shame it is that Sega apparently seeks to hide a lot of Sonic's past (which has been overblown by the fandom to be way worse than it actually is). A lot of the games on here weren't bad concepts, and who knows how great they could've been with a remake that ironed out some of their flaws (even Sonic '06, which is bad mostly because it was rushed, and sadly, its hideous reputation will most likely prevent it from ever getting a re-release with the proper bug-testing it desperately needed).
I think some of it may, emphasis on _may,_ come down to the differing responses of SEGA and Nintendo to the popularity of console gaming overseas vs Japan. SEGA seemed to resent how much less popularity they had in Japan; and the Dreamcast's perhaps overly ambitious connectivity to arcade cabinets seems like an example of overcompensation for a perceived problem. (Genesis had few fighting games, Dreamcast is primarily remembered for its library of fighting games) On the other hand, Nintendo accepted that they would always make more money in the console market overseas than at home, and started listening more and more to their overseas market. (Pokemon popping off probably had something to do with it too) I think it's part of the reason Miyamoto has always made such an effort to communicate to the overseas markets' personally.
i would kill for a remake of sonic 06, one without all the glitches, one without the whole princess elise romance thing, one where they’d actually have time to fully flesh out the ideas and concepts
A guy that goes by the name ChaosX is making a Unity port/remake of Sonic 2006 but sadly he's making it too much of his own thing by adding features no one asked for rather than keeping it as authentic as possible (besides the bugs of course).
I'm honestly stunned you said the soundtrack on Sonic Adventure 2 wasn't as good as the previous game. In addition to giving each level a unique flair, most of the characters even got their own unique genres of music: Sonic: pop/rock Shadow: electronic/drum and bass Knuckles: hip-hop Rouge: Jazz/bossa nova Eggman: Industrial
Sonic Adventure's soundtrack was amazing - one of the better ones of the post-Genesis era. Sonic Adventure 2's soundtrack, by contrast, was decidedly "meh" and really shows its age now. Don't get me wrong, SA2 has some gems... but not enough to rise it above the sea of bland, generic 2000s music that fills most of its OST.
The sega master system is actually still being sold in brazils market, to answer your question on why Brazil got a master system port of a game way later on
1:18:52 Respect, Triple Jump, respect. Sonic R is a good game. It is. It's not what you wanted from Sonic on the Saturn, but it's a good game. If you think it's bad, play more. It's definitely top 40 on the Saturn, and if you actually know Saturn, that's saying a lot.
Yep, I thoroughly agree chap! I was frankly annoyed by the moaning about the exploration part. Diddy Kong Racing on the N64 had that too (also a favourite of mine). It looked exceptional on the Saturn, and I thought a lot of effort had been put into it. As you say, easily in the Saturn's top 40 (I'd say 20 myself), and given how true Saturn players hugely rate the system, it's high praise. One ranking in this list that really irritated me was Sonic 2 on the Master System at 64. It's far better than that, especially when Sonic Chaos and Triple Trouble are ranked so highly. At least Sonic Adventure was up near the top. Personally, I don't care for the newer Sonic games much. I think it's the fact that they're not on Sega consoles.
i had dark brotherhood on ds as a kid, i dont remember it being boring but i do remember it being hard and i couldnt figure out what to do next in a lot of places. i also remeber swapping it out for zoo tycoon on a drive and it being hard as well lol
I agree with both being above Colors, specially Riders since I think this one is the best racing game ever, but above Generations, hm yea, I don't agree, though, I can accept
This is the first Triple Jump video I've watched, and I loved it! It's funny, all of your choices are well explained, you aren't afraid of unpopular takes, and you gave every game a fair chance. Excellent content!
Unpopular takes huh so far I’ve seen these people say what every game journalist on the planet has said about sonic hur dur sonic 06 bad guys pleas give me views (like seriously sonic 06 is 16 years old move on already)
@sometf2player752 dude its a ranking video about every somic game. Of course they gotta talk about it. Putting somic heroes over generations is definitely an unpopular opinion.
The Norm MacDonald line that always gets me is, "And for their choice of opponent in the war, Germany chose...THE WORLD. What're ya, from MARS, Germany?"

@@123stinko I actually like the vehicle mini games and I didn't mind having to replay the levels in order to gather materials because I liked replaying them anyway. I would rank Sonic Rush Adventure over the first Sonic Rush because it has better level design and boss battles. (There are less bottomless pits and the levels flow better and you have to wait less time in order to attack the bosses).
Sonic Spinball has all the traits of a game made by Sega of America wash dark colours inconsistent frame rate and crack music although I do like some of the tracks and sonic Spinball, but the majority of it sounds unpleasant to my ears, especially the options screen theme, and it’s easily the worst of all the sonic games on the Mega Drive.
The best Sonic game will always be Sonic Mania for me, the classic feel combined with that magnificent bugger Tee Lopes' soundtrack is one hell of a combination (Stardust Speedway Act 2 still gets stuck in my head and i love Press Garden Act 1 too, so many bangers)
Mania I think is considered best by people who werent around to play the classic games, and that's ok. Sonic Mania is the Generation Z version of Sonic 1 2 3 Knuckles and CD. It's great but, overall, it doesn't add enough to really be better than the original games. The soundtrack honestly, is bigger than the game itself.
Wow, amateur hour! This was just all over the place, and I have so much I want to say, but I'm just so exhausted by all of the horrible choices, I feel so drained by the sheer ignorance from this video. I can't believe this video only has 762 dislikes. This is the first time in my 40 years of existence that I feel like saying, an opinion has the ability to be wrong. Placing any Sonic Olympic games not to mention Sonic Racers above Generations already has you losing credibility big time! I get Sonic Spinball being placed lower on the list, but at #61 that's just ridiculous, and Sonic Generations absolutely deserved to be placed higher than the #22 spot. This guy contradicts his own previous statements multiple times as he goes through the list, and this is exactly what happens when people try to be funnier than they are. I have a pretty good feeling even if someone were to say otherwise that the uploader/s of this video were born after 1995 and have no business rating any Sonic games that were released before 1998.
Shadow the Hedgehog is one of my personal favourite “bad” games, it’s not great obviously but I’ve always loved the character and it came out at the right time for me personally. I’m glad it wasn’t as low down as I might have expected! Similarly with Sonic Battle, I know it’s not good but I LOVED that game so much!
Lately, I've been seeing more advocates in defense of Sonic '06, yet even they seem to view Shadow the Hedgehog as being something worth shitting on. That saddens me, because while I certainly wouldn't say that the game is without its flaws, I actually had quite a bit of fun with it. Honestly, I enjoyed it more than Heroes (which I view as being where Sonic's downward trend of poorly-designed, glitch-riddled games truly began). Hell, even the whole "Sonic character with a gun" thing sorta works since weapons are actually quite good for taking out enemies instantly (granted, it would've been nice if they just got rid of the stupid enemy HP that Heroes introduced in the first place, but I guess they must've realized that it'd really be no different from any other 3D Sonic game if Shadow could just Homing Attack everything to death). One thing that the Sonic '06 fans especially seem to hate on Shadow for is the narrative. And yes, the multiple routes do ultimately become pointless when there's still one true ending (yet not making it clear which route is canon up to that point), and I'd especially condemn the game for relegating the explanation as to whether or not Shadow's really the same one from Adventure 2, arguably one of the main reasons the game should exist in the first place, to a brief line of dialogue that you'd have to deliberately drag out the final boss fight for. However, I don't think the return of "edgelord" Shadow should be anything of concern because, let's be honest, should we really expect him NOT to be fucked up and more nihilistic after how Sonic Heroes ended? If anything, I'd say ShtH's story does a servicible enough job of bringing Shadow back up to his end-of-Adventure2 outlook after Heroes arbitrarily brought him back with amnesia and had an ending that only left him more confused (and the Shadow the Hedgehog game is especially not to blame for Shadow's eventual Flanderization).
Im not a fan of shadow, I think its better then Sonic Heroes....Sonic Heroes like all their Act 1s on fine except some of the later ones, but all of their Act 2s are AWFUL, BORING, and LONG Not sure about the rest of you, but I don't like my sonic stages to incredibly long. (I also hate it when its incredibly short, cough cough sonic forces cough cough) Shadow, while repetitive especially with certain missions, still was fun to go through the stages as they never took too long....except with specific missions (plus most people played it on the ps2, what is a TERRIBLE port of that game)
@@JustCallTre I played the PS2 version myself. Not the best performance, but I wanted dual-audio and don't have an Xbox, and I was already burned on the GameCube version of Heroes not having it (and with Shadow especially, I absolutely loved Koji Yusa's performance in Adventure 2 and wasn't willing to give that up..... of course, the English version's sudden change over to 4kids actors didn't really help either).
There is no good sonic games. Mario was always the better game. You take away sonics speed and it has nothing. Back in the day the kids that liked sonic usually had no idea about games.
Put Generations above Sonic 1, then we have a deal. I would recommend that to anyone wanting to get started on the franchise. Other than that I do agree a lot of the takes here. Also good to see some appreciation for Lost World. I genuinely like Zavok and rank him WAY above the rest of the Six, even without the IDW comics cleaning him up. Gameplay isn't half bad either and it didn't require much blunt force pressure to run in Proton. It's also the first 3D Sonic PC port that actually let you set controls in game. ...Just lay off on the "Sonic '06 bad" humour that dominates the first part of the video. It's not funny anymore and has gotten REALLY old.
Generations better than Sonic 1? Lol sonic games have been so bad over the years that fans have to overhype the better entry of the latest 3d sonics. Generations is becoming one of the the most overrated games in existence.
@@DNGMaestro dude, the very first Sonic game sucked in so many ways. It sucked so much that recent ports had to change it to include the spin dash and drop dash. Genesis was the console I had as a toddler/kid and let me tell you that between level design and spin dash Sonic 2 makes Sonic 1 look like a dumpster fire with a couple of dumpster babies trapped inside. Even as an adult now I can't bring myself to play Sonic 1. I would rather play Sonic 4 Episode 2 than Sonic 1 and I hate that game. By the way Episode 1 is better than Episode 2 and fuck any and every list that says otherwise.
@Kian if the boost button and homing attack button weren't the same button, Unleashed would be so much better than Generations instead of just better than Generations.
@Kian don't get me wrong, I still think Unleashed is better than Generations but if that one thing were different it would be so much better. The boost is just unforgiving when you're not locked onto your target when you think you are. I recently replayed both and I would much rather play Eggmanland than Planet Wisp. The challenge is the perfect blend of frustrating and satisfying where Generations feels way too easy. Plus Spagonia is way better in Unleashed than Generations. I'm rambling now. Ignore me.
Personally I liked ZAZZ alot more than the the rest of deadly six he was crazy and wacky which makes him fit as a villain ,I feel like zavok is just a generic villain character
The voices of the TripleJump crew are incredible, but so much of that hinges on a stupendous script. Many of these videos that I have watched dozens and dozens of times were written by Philip J. Reed, a person that had such a cheeky and down to earth writing style jam packed with not just humour but really neat tidbits of information. It's a tough task to write an engaging script for a ten minute video...but to do it successfully for a two hour video? Multiple times?! Absolutely unbelievable. Philip passed away recently and the hole left in TripleJump is unimaginably large. My thoughts are with the TripleJump team.
Sonic 3D Blast was the first Sonic game I had as a kid and for some reason I loved it...but then again, anything that was ostensibly a video game was entertaining to me as a child 😅
I actually enjoyed sonic heroes, so I'm glad to see it up decently high. I also enjoyed Sonic 3d blast for Saturn, but I guess I can see why it's so low. Also loved Adventure and Adventure 2. Plus of course the classic sonic 1 2 3 and knuckles. I will admit I'm that person who stopped playing modern sonic games after I was super disappointed in shadow the hedgehog. Never played Generations, colors ect.. (Also just hated the idea for unleashed) till I picked up forces, and well forces is kinda hit and miss. Mania was so so good, and well forces was good in some parts, but meh in others.
1:09:50 oh them's fighting words. The Chao Garden is a big part of why people clamor for a "Sonic Adventure 3" to this day, despite already having one in Sonic Unleashed (Sonic World Adventure in Japan) and Sonic 06.
49:20 WTF, of course people missed them! That’s why everyone were excited for their return and were clamoring for that return to happen And they are still being used in the IDW comics which has a lot more restrictions than the Archie comics.
One game I disagree with is sonic battle even tho the game needed to be tweaked and added more content but it was crazy fun and arcadey even in story mode. The story mode was interesting too adding lore to sonic battle and everyone had a reason to fight each other instead just battling for the lols. It should be higher
Sonic Brain Ranking was effectively here in 2014, at the SEGA Joypolis in Odaiba. It was just a quizz game to play with others, and iirc, to win prizes. There were also a lot of machines Sonic's themed, the giant Sonic statue we see in this video, and a lot of exclusive merch to buy. Sonic Athletics and the Sonic Werehog short movie in 3D were also there, but I think Sonic Athletics is still there actually...
*sees Colors and Generations outside the top 20* "Wait what? What could possibly be better than those?" *sees the actual top 20* "...you know what fair enough." Also I will continue asking until we get every Mega Man game ranked.
I disagree with a number of these but you guys are funny af and genuine about your perspectives so I can respect your takes and continue to enjoy the video 😂
About the Sonic Blast thing, as a brazillian. I think the master system was pretty popular here even in the 90s so the fact that it got a port for it in 1997 makes some sense.
I honestly understand why people don’t like dark brotherhood, but I myself really liked the game. Playing it on long road trips, every character had different abilities to help around the world map, the mini-game like combat was fun and the super moves which required specific teams was really cool.
I remember Sonic Shuffle only had one zone copied from Sonic Adventure which was The Emerald Coast Zone and the following zones after Emerald Coast Zone on Sonic Shuffle were all debut zones with different names such as The Fire Bird Zone, The Riot Train Zone and even The Fifth Dimension Space Zone.
The first console I owned was the dreamcast, both Sonic Adventures have a special place in my heart, specially the first one. They might not be the greatest games out there, but I love them, still play them once in a while, I dare to say SA1 is one of my favorite games ever, always have fun with it
Sonic Adventure is frickin awesome pal! I don't think I've ever awaited a game as eagerly as I did that one. I've still not forgotten buying the DC on launch day with SA. It took up so much of my time in 1999/2000, I nearly got thrown off my A level courses. I still love playing it to this day at 41. I can't quite understand why Generations and Heroes are preferred by so many people. Sonic did, and always will, belong on Sega consoles.
The thing is, though... Eggman will tell Shadow that he rescued him in his fight against Devil Doom. It's a real downer that you have wait til the 10 minute mark for you hear that.
I made it to presumably the last area of Chronicles the Dark Brotherhood but was at that time too low level to handle IX in his encounter. With most RPGS I can hardly be bothered to grind, and this was certainly no exception, but I'm startled I even got that far.
We need The Sonic Characters as permanent player Characters again not just Sonic just because he's the main character doesn't mean he has to do all the work. I want to play as Shadow Sonic Silver Tails Amy Knuckles Cream Vector and the others again. And we need a break from Eggman as the main villain for once in a while just because Eggman is the main villain doesn't mean he has to appear every time it gets boring and we don't need his stupid robots as the same enemies every time. We need a new villain who isn't Eggman and new enemies who aren't his robots too.
It's amazing to think that, just over a year after this video was made, 3 more Sonic games have been released, all three of which received favorable reviews. I would almost count Sonic Frontiers as two games, because the huge amount of free DLC Sega gave us throughout 2023 gives us far more content than Sonic Forces ever could have imagined. 2023 sure has given Sonic fans plenty to eat. I wonder what's on the plate for next year. Oh, that's right. A big movie and a Knuckles series, so Sonic 3... and Knuckles. Rather fitting, since I feel like its 1994 all over again.
on behalf of sonic dash, a lot of stuff has been added since it’s release, not just characters, but whole new concepts like building islands for flickies and whatnot. it can stand as its own game now and isn’t just a copy of temple run anymore
I actually liked Sonic Battle. Emerl's growth through the game actually made me sad at the end. Also I guess the story parts with cardboard cutouts of the characters worked because I just imagined how those interactions were going. I also liked Rush Adventure better then the first Rush. It just resonates with me in a way I guess. Maybe helped by the fact I got it in the same purchase with Phantom Hourglass so two DS games with beloved heroes on high-seas adventures might had made me more excepting. It might help it was the first Sonic game I managed to collect all seven Emeralds to get the final ending. And I liked all the stuff I could do to improve the Island.
Nice list, id have had sonic generations much higher and I do think the sonic Advance games got better with each installment but everyone's entitled to opinion. Great video
I can see the argument to be had about some of the 2d games being lower/higher compared to their sequels. Or even the argument about what Sonic game design should be in either 2d/3d. BOTH versions of Lost World above Generations, though??? Plead insanity.
I was also kind of surprised to see both of the Lost World games listed higher than the Generations games. I thought everyone hated the gyro controls in Lost World 3DS' special stages.
Heroes above Generations? Yea there will always be rankings i don’t agree with at all, that’s fine. But that is just plain wrong. Personally I’d have Generations above all the 3D modern ones but I can at least see arguments for Adventure and Unleashed being above it. Heroes though… Wow.
Mario and Sonic at the London games is ahead of sonic generations come on. It's a little overrated maybe but some of the games they had ahead of it was just foolish.
I was 100% prepared to write this list off like every WatchMojo list ever but no, it’s really well written and researched. I’ve been a big sonic fan my entire life and I only would’ve ranked a few things differently. The fact that the they know that Lost World didn’t suck and the advance titles got worse over time not better earned my respect.
While I only Played Some of These Games, all I can say is Sonic 06,Sonic Unleashed, and Sonic Generations are my Favorite Games in the Franchise along with the Classic Games, the Adventure Games,Heroes, the Rush Games,Mania, and Colors,I even have a Soft Spot to Shadow the Hedgehog,Secret of the Rings, and Black Knight, the Worst Sonic Games are Rise of Lyric,Lost World, and Forces.
@@sometf2player752 While I Haven't Played the Game Yet and Finding It is Hard because All I Could Find are 6 Copies of Secret Rings which I Bought One,I have to Agree with you that Black Knight is Amazing with a Well Written Story and Characters.
Sonic Unleashed is the game that made me think “Maybe Knuckles is dead?” Sega needed a Sonic character that was more combat and puzzle focused so they altered Sonic with magic instead of using the Echidna.
I'm not going to fight hard for it, but I think Dark Brotherhood gets judged based on Bioware's involvement more than anything else; lost potential, etc. It's disappointing and, yeah, pretty boring but putting it lower (and in this case much lower) than '06 doesn't feel great
Exactly if bioware didn't work on it these critics would not be bitching so much about it. It's not fun but not as bad as these critics make it out to be there is no way in heck sonic brotherhood is worse than sonic boom rise of lyric.
@@evdestroy5304 Yeah, I mean, I just disagree with this criteria. I would rather play something forgettable for a couple hours than have an unfun, frustrating time
The Mega Drive Sonic games will always have a special place in my heart. Its just a shame the transition to 3D games didnt go as great for Sonic as it did for Mario. Would love to see modern Sonic games use Drum & Bass music the high tempo upbeat sound would be perfect. Sonic 3 & Knuckles will always be my all time personal fave Sonic game 💙 for the 16bit gen it was a masterpiece
@Kian Ok firstly I never read any magazines or websites about games since early 00s but I used to read Gamesmaster (which at the time was one of the biggest publications). What I said was based on my opinion, nobody elses. I have never heard anyone say Sonic battle was better than Mario64 or the best platformers of its time. Just personal preference neither of us are wrong for liking one more than the other. For me Sonic made the best 2d platformers but Mario has made better 3d platformers IMO and trust me Iv wanted to like Sonic games more I even pushed through the glitch fest of Sonic 06 to complete it and was still disapointed 🤣
@Kian @Calistus Jay Sonic actually did have a rough transition into 3D, but THAT phrase over the years has been misconstrued as “Sonic Adventure was a rough transition into 3D” which is wrong. Adventure was the successful breakthrough. Everything else between Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic Adventure is the rough transition
@Kian Is it bad to say it was both? Sonic X-Treme’s cancellation and A LOT of prototypical 3D Sonic products spelled that they were having issues adapting a full fledged game, not to mention that they’d outright say it in interviews. It wasn’t just Sonic, EVERYBODY struggled with adapting their games into 3D around that time, it was new. Regardless I’m glad Sonic Team found a way that turned out successful
I realised that before and after the pandemic began to attack Mario & Sonic never released any more Winter Olympic Collaboration Videogames when the Wii U was discontinued to be succeed by the Nintendo Switch.
Best pure 3D game: Sonic Adventure 2 (in fact with all the remakes going on I feel like a company could remake this game and fix the few issues it had in the first place making it a near powerhouse, especially with updates to the graphics and audio. Like this is a game that could use a genuine remake, despite being still quite good today) Best pure 2D: Sonic Mania
"You might as well be playing on a sheet of Notebook paper" Fuck, no one tell him about that dope ass Sonic fangame where the graphics are all handdrawn in the style of notebook sketches, and everything is designed on a sheet of notebook paper.

Honestly debated dropping £4 for sonic adventure 1 on my Xbox for Cho garden
FUN FACT: The Mean Bean Machine has been referenced in the 2nd Sonic movie, as it was the name of the coffee shop/secret headquarters of Dr. Robotnik. Pretty slick acknowledgement on the crew's part, if you ask me.

Yeah, it’s like this list purposefully went against the grain at times
Yes, for Generations it was "we just don't like it", and that's completely fine, I'd just would've liked to hear why? xD
Oh you foolish, courageous souls
Something wrong ?
Looking through this list makes me think how much of a shame it is that Sega apparently seeks to hide a lot of Sonic's past (which has been overblown by the fandom to be way worse than it actually is). A lot of the games on here weren't bad concepts, and who knows how great they could've been with a remake that ironed out some of their flaws (even Sonic '06, which is bad mostly because it was rushed, and sadly, its hideous reputation will most likely prevent it from ever getting a re-release with the proper bug-testing it desperately needed).
Ikr
I agree. I think Shadow was incredibly ambitious, morality system, branching paths, vehicles and weapon's. It should be celebrated for that!
i would kill for a remake of sonic 06, one without all the glitches, one without the whole princess elise romance thing, one where they’d actually have time to fully flesh out the ideas and concepts
In addition to giving each level a unique flair, most of the characters even got their own unique genres of music:
Sonic: pop/rock
Shadow: electronic/drum and bass
Knuckles: hip-hop
Rouge: Jazz/bossa nova
Eggman: Industrial
Ikr this has the best song in all of sonic (live and learn) in my opinion
Not that it matters much, but SA1 did also have varietous genres in its ost. I still tend to lean towards SA2 in terms of consistency though
I always thought sa1 soundtrack was more memorable plus I’m not a huge fan of rock music
SA1 had more different genres of music and the compositions themselves were more memorable

Flawed, but there is something genuinely very fun about it. I'm honestly confused why they never tried it again but... SEGA gonna SEGA.

trust me: it is nostalgia. sonic spinball is an assault on the senses
My only complaints are no playable Amy (or other female characters) and the DLC being a total waste of money.
@@rpgnut5897 well i'm glad we got a physical copy after that DLC :)

With an extensive lineup of quality content, “Rules for the and not for me, eh, Sonic. You class traitor,” stands alone.
Sonic Battle is better than 06 and Secret Rings at least. As for Shadow...yeah, that can stay there.

The voices of the TripleJump crew are incredible, but so much of that hinges on a stupendous script.
Many of these videos that I have watched dozens and dozens of times were written by Philip J.

Wow, been waiting a long time for this one.
Hey now, I miss the Sonic screensaver!
Is it me or did they bash most of the games even though a lot of the lower rank games aren't that bad I enjoyed rivals 2 and sonic rush adventure
on behalf of sonic dash, a lot of stuff has been added since it’s release, not just characters, but whole new concepts like building islands for flickies and whatnot. it can stand as its own game now and isn’t just a copy of temple run anymore
Sounds good
Somehow the algorithm learned to not show me any of your videos other than Worst to Bests. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
Nice list, id have had sonic generations much higher and I do think the sonic Advance games got better with each installment but everyone's entitled to opinion. Great video
I honestly thought Advance 2 had a lot of flaws but it was still fun when sky canyon didn't make me wanna break the screen.
I had the video paused and went to check my battery life. It was at 69%. My device knows you too well.
I can see the argument to be had about some of the 2d games being lower/higher compared to their sequels. Or even the argument about what Sonic game design should be in either 2d/3d.
BOTH versions of Lost World above Generations, though??? Plead insanity.
Fr, list was mainly cool but Generations being under racing and Olympic Games alone is enough for me to be confused
I was also kind of surprised to see both of the Lost World games listed higher than the Generations games. I thought everyone hated the gyro controls in Lost World 3DS' special stages.
06 has no reason to be that high
Heroes above Generations? Yea there will always be rankings i don’t agree with at all, that’s fine. But that is just plain wrong. Personally I’d have Generations above all the 3D modern ones but I can at least see arguments for Adventure and Unleashed being above it. Heroes though… Wow.
Mario and Sonic at the London games is ahead of sonic generations come on. It's a little overrated maybe but some of the games they had ahead of it was just foolish.
Heroes is overrated af
Heroes is just terrible, the game fights the player at every moment and is just unfair/ player hostile
The video starts at 3:00
I was 100% prepared to write this list off like every WatchMojo list ever but no, it’s really well written and researched. I’ve been a big sonic fan my entire life and I only would’ve ranked a few things differently. The fact that the they know that Lost World didn’t suck and the advance titles got worse over time not better earned my respect.
"Good news for the one person on earth who ever enjoyed Chao Gardens"
Uhhhh, bro? Are you talking about Earth from a different universe?
While I only Played Some of These Games, all I can say is Sonic 06,Sonic Unleashed, and Sonic Generations are my Favorite Games in the Franchise along with the Classic Games, the Adventure Games,Heroes, the Rush Games,Mania, and Colors,I even have a Soft Spot to Shadow the Hedgehog,Secret of the Rings, and Black Knight, the Worst Sonic Games are Rise of Lyric,Lost World, and Forces.
Sonic and the black knight was a good game and had the best characterization of sonic in my opinion
@@sometf2player752 While I Haven't Played the Game Yet and Finding It is Hard because All I Could Find are 6 Copies of Secret Rings which I Bought One,I have to Agree with you that Black Knight is Amazing with a Well Written Story and Characters.
Yes love theses videos keep them coming amazing work from all of you
A very unfortunate missed opportunity to sing the praises of Sonic R's greatest game soundtrack of all time 🤷♂️
Sonic Unleashed is the game that made me think “Maybe Knuckles is dead?”
Sega needed a Sonic character that was more combat and puzzle focused so they altered Sonic with magic instead of using the Echidna.
I thought it had an interesting plot but really crappy gameplay!!
The worst thing a game can be is boring. 06 is many things, but it is never boring.
@@evdestroy5304 Yeah, I mean, I just disagree with this criteria. I would rather play something forgettable for a couple hours than have an unfun, frustrating time
@@themarkandrus 06 isn't unfun or frustrating in my opinion so meh
Day one of asking for "Every X-Men Video Game Ranked From WORST To BEST."
The 3D transition was just as good as Mario. And there are several sonic games that use DNB :)
The 16-bit sonic games have always, and will always be the best sonic games in my eyes.
In my humble opinion Sonic 3 combined with Sonic & Knuckles is the 🐝 knees 😁. What a game! Thank you all again for an excellent video 👍🏼
I love the Chow garden. It's 90% of the reason why I like Sonic adventure 2 after beating it.

Thanks Jiple Trump, I had plans this evening I had to cancel for this one
Have you guys ever thought about doing a ranking of every TMNT game from worst to best?
I realised that before and after the pandemic began to attack Mario & Sonic never released any more Winter Olympic Collaboration Videogames when the Wii U was discontinued to be succeed by the Nintendo Switch.
Best pure 3D game: Sonic Adventure 2 (in fact with all the remakes going on I feel like a company could remake this game and fix the few issues it had in the first place making it a near powerhouse, especially with updates to the graphics and audio. Like this is a game that could use a genuine remake, despite being still quite good today)
Best pure 2D: Sonic Mania
I gotta say, putting two Mario and Sonic games and Lost World in front of Sonic Generations seems insane to me
At least Sonic Heroes is ranked pretty high. I'll take that.
"You might as well be playing on a sheet of Notebook paper"
Fuck, no one tell him about that dope ass Sonic fangame where the graphics are all handdrawn in the style of notebook sketches, and everything is designed on a sheet of notebook paper.
