This Dat-soon just would have been sooo nice in my 11th grade year of high school! Cruising down Panama City Beach FL during the summer. That hood, exhaust and wheels, just might of made different memories. My gosh.
The "Datzen" is sounding great. On the nuts and bolts thing. My neighbor and I spent all day in my shop one day a few months back organizing my nut and bolt bin. It now looks like a hardware store, everything is order and marked, it is so nice to just walk over a grab what I need. Been wanting to do that for years!
Spend time looking for parts? Yes. But what really kills me is when I spend time looking for the tool I just had in my #$%@#$%#$% hand 2 minutes ago! 🙄🤣. Congrats on bringing her back - she sounds fantastic!
At time 4:22 I just did my clutch in my car. I was able to do it with no problem at all in about 5 minutes of bleeding. The biggest secret is to use the "OEM one man brake bleeding kit" on the clutch slave cylinder bleed valve. I connected it up just the same way I did for my brakes. It worked like a dream. I was able to do it myself and bleed my clutch perfectly in about 5 minutes all by myself. You can pick it up at your favorite auto parts store for about 10 bucks. I will never bleed my clutch again without one. I really enjoy your content.
I have to say that I really appreciate you showing your problems in your videos. I feel it keeps them honest (for lack of a better word). It shows what people can expect. Great video you guys.
I'm sure somebody shared this with you before. But when you are bleeding a clutch the best method is to pump it up and hold it halfway down. Then when the other person opens the bleeder valve push it the rest of the way down. Hold to the floor until they close the bleeder valve and then pump it up and hold it in the middle again. If you hold your foot all the way to the floor after pumping up the pressure. It takes longer to get the air out of the line. And that way you don't have to do it as many times and it comes up better. Just thought I'd share that with you
I had a 240z years ago who I was 16. It was a rottedmess but ran awesome. I've loved this since I seen it the first time. Glad you guys are back on it.
Emily is so outgoing and Aaron is so unassuming that we don't realize that he's a rock star. Y'all both kick butt! Greetings from the piedmont of Georgia, USA. Edit: I'd love to hear that Z sing sweet tunes. I eagerly await your next upload.
Aaron, a question; has the Z ever been run on E85? Are you sure all the "85" was flushed from tank, lines and manifold last time? If not, first check all the gasket assisted seals and replace any that have been "wet"- the blown out one looked a bit swollen in the pic. FR
The battery connector you installed with the two little screws are good for emergency situations but they do not transmit all the power from the battery to the starter motor. I am a agricultural mechanic and have tested these terminal and found they loose 20 to 30% of battery output. Try it ! Load teste directly from the battery posts then at the end of the cables and see the difference. If you have to use these i sujest you sodder the ends with lead. This will transmit more power to the cable because all the strands will have contact. Have a great day
Always use Freezer(stronger) zip lock bags for your Parts as they also have a spot to mark what's in the bag! Also Always keep Clean rags over any open Injectors(or Colored tennis balls😅) or Carbs when sitting open.. Think about using a Reverse Hood scoop so you don't suck in dirt or small stones thrown up by a Car or truck ahead of you, + it' makes it more of a Sleeper Mystery..👍😂
Reminds me of my 1977 280, it was perky with the stock six, but this thing…yikes! Also, most missing parts generally show up after purchasing replacements. It’s physics! Love the video👍🏽👍🏽
Zen sounds so good , I always have loved the sound of 180 degree headers . They have a unique sound to them . Congratulations guys and I'm looking forward to your next video.
Well he'll I'm off to re binge watch all the Zen build videos 🙂 this would have to be one of the best channels still going strong after all these years👍
Wow! Such a nice power package for Sweet Zen! Great idea, for an LS3 home, right?!! The front end weight problem has always existed for the Scarab Zs The answer; All aluminum LS3 is probably less weight than (both the 240Z and) the 280Z engines and three times the ponies!
You're Datsun should be a beast if it doesn't smoke the tire's in each gear. Good luck look forward to see its first quarter mile run. Sounds nice. The Z Datsun and the VW are only imports I've ever owned.
I bag everything when they come off...lesson learned from military aviation. I'll have to go back and see why you took the 2.8 out...that engine can produce some pretty good horsepower.
When looking for that one bolt in your stash, dump the contents out on a shop rag or towel. After the bolt is found, grab the corners of the rag, pick it up and dump back into the bucket.
My brother had a Z just like that. Same color minus the fender flares. That little thing was quick with the straight 6 in it, that sumbitch gotta be a screamer with a decent running v8 under the hood! Being that little n light, I bet she’s gonna be a handful.
yes parts go walking from my garage as well ..got so frustrated that last project as i removed bolts i put then in zip-lock freezer bags & labelled them ( driver seat , passenger seat , back seats etc etc ) then put the bags in a marked plastic crate ( with a lid ) as i bought parts they went in another plastic crate ( again with a lid ) .. come rebuild i was still raking through tubs of fastenings looking for replacements
Same problem; started using fishing tackle boxes with many adjustable compartments, labeling the lids by applying masking tape and writing on them and then using same to mark whole box for a specific project. Worked a treat, till I lost one of the tackle boxes moving shop. Best system so far, anyway! FR
Hello fellow Buckeyes, was just down at Summit Racing getting some stuff for my turbo Silverado, would love to connect with you guys when we revisit the Buckeye state next Summer, Love the nasty sound of Zen , Keep up the great work and positive vibes.
I bet that 280 Z will flat ass FLY....WOW...Alot of motor for a Small bodied car...Great looking old Datsun.....Great Video....Ive been where you 2 were. Parts I know I have now I cant find. I swear they Grow Legs and WALK OFF....LOL...HAHA....Youll find that O2 Sensor tomorrow right there in Plain site....LOL...At least thats what always happens too ME.....LMAO...LOL
You two work well together! A great looking woman who doesn't mind getting her hands dirty! Wondering what is going to keep junk out of the intakes while driving?! June bugs do fly....
"How much of your time is spent looking for bolts?" Over the years, I have had bolts magically disappear SO OFTEN that I finally bought some zip lock parts bags. White label to write on, just the right size. I think they come about a million to a case - well, a LOT per case. I get them out and set them around the job before I even get my tools out.
I didn't see if you secured the battery after connecting the terminals. Please get a hold down for the battery, if you didn't. I melted the wiring harness in my 260Z when my battery hold down came off on a bump, the battery terminals touched the metal hood and smoke came rolling out from under the hood.
I have no idea why people would put thumbs down there is nothing not to like.
Amen on looking for bolts!! Do it all the time!!

The Datsun lives! Sounds healthy, runs like a champ. This thing will be back to doing mad skids in no time!
The Datsun is sounding great. I had a 300ZX twin turbo many years back, loved it.
You guys are a awesome couple you match each other and I hope you can be joyful
I have to say that I really appreciate you showing your problems in your videos. I feel it keeps them honest (for lack of a better word). It shows what people can expect. Great video you guys.
Thanks, great to see you back in the shop.

Zen sounds awesome. Flying Sparks honesty is just telling it how it is, I like that.
The "boss" is got to be the most laid back Yorkie I have ever seen! Great dog, and great video! Keep 'em coming!
i really watch y'all problem solve. y'all are great to watch. thanks
Great to see you two back in the garage. YAY!!!!!
Lubricate o-rings with silicone grease and they are less likely to pop out during assembly.

When you have a lot of projects easy to lose parts I do it all the time great to see you back in the garage.
Glad to see Zen is getting back on the road. My daughter wants a 280z now, so thanks a lot...
Nice to see Zen running again!
That things a beast. Lots of room in the front to hide a turbo or 3 and intercooler. Findlay would love that
Awesome to see you guys and getting her running again
Thanks so much for bringing back zen I know what it like with more projects than time zen is one I would spend that time thanks soooo much
Excellent question on bolt searching....I task my youngest with that, he could find a washer in the woods while riding a dirt bike🤟🏻🤟🏻

Zen is such a cool car. Glad to see it get some love.

Sweet honey bbq 😋 . You two are so blessed to have each other. Love your builds. God bless

I've had that problem so I started putting ally parts in the vehicles they go to. Helped me a lot.
Those headers are amazing. I don't remember ever seeing another build do that.
I love the hood on that car.
Those injector stacks are awesome peaking out like you have them.
Nice purr to the engine too. Healthy
This is my favorite build of yours, love that car, so glad to see it and hear it again!

My perfectly organized friend used ziplock sandwich bags and marked them with a sharpie. ie motor mounting bolts when we took his snowblower apart
Its all about Finley for me!!! Love the content!!
Love the Z cars. I’ve owned a few including a later model 350Z. Look forward to seeing it on the road 👍
Jippii and wow. Awesome video again. More such videos. Greetings from Finland.
Will it run? Of course it will! It's Aaron and Emily!
And it's an ls!

Well you seemed to have good fuel pressure.
I'm glad to see Zen come out of hibernation!
The datsun is the coolest rig in the garage

As soon as you get Zen running and driving, you will find all those parts. Tis just the way it goes.
im fashionably late to this party , but love that datZen ! and finley of course ... whos faster Roxy or Zen ?
Fortunately, it won't take another 10 years for Datzen to be brought back to life!
Sounds better without the exhaust. Love the 280z
Man I never heard that thing run before. Sounds like a monster in disguise!
Yay!

Don't bother looking through bolt pile. I would try to find your nearest bolt place and get frendly with them. It will save you a LOT of headaces.
Yes! Bring back the Z! 😍😍😍
Yessss bronze Z cars UNITE!!! 😍🥰🙌🏼
@@flyingsparksgarage haha let's make this a reality sometime eh? 😂👍

I have 3 kids, so bolts, parts, and tools often grow legs and walk off, never to return. LOL
LSZ is the only way. Got a 300zx with a LST myself.
Yep....that o2 sensor is right next to the shifter bolts......LOL...take care
husband puts bottle on car, wife picks up bottle + puts napkin under bottle. everything as it should be then....

Saw one of these for sale here in tulsa the other day
like to see the z and gto in drag week or ls fest theres some more to name ,
Emily seems like more of a show piece than anything. Aaron is the real star.
I don't think so.
Did you last have the shifter bolts before you cleaned out the shop?
great way to 'restore'a "Z"!
What fender flares and size are y’all running?
Thanks!
I didn't see if you secured the battery after connecting the terminals. Please get a hold down for the battery, if you didn't. Great to hear it again. Love that car
Great video guys quality
never seen anyone pump a pedal like that ;-) v fast
Can we get a video of Garfield, like what ever maintenance you have to do then like a just trip to town or something, so we can see it again?
She sounds so good 👍👍🇨🇱
Hi Emily!!! Love the channel. What are the lights in the lower left from the steering wheel????
