    Hi Ryan, can you recommend any resources for learning Canadian English terms? I had a student who inquired about this, but I would prefer to give her a video to watch since I'm not located in US. I'm curious if it is much different than English in the US.

      Hey Amber!
      Great question. Honestly, I don’t place much attention on it in class, aside from spelling differences. Check out this one: www.google.ca/amp/s/getproofed.com/writing-tips/american-english-vs-canadian-english-spelling-differences/amp/
      For Canadian vocabulary and culture, I refer them to Narcity magazine: www.narcity.com
      Hope that helps! 🇨🇦 😃

      Hey Ann-Miranlia!
      Great question. Sadly, I don’t know. 🤷‍♂️
      Once upon a time I used to use Kapwing, but I’m not sure how useful / accessible it is nowadays. Let me know if you find a good app out there for this. 😊

      I think there are plenty or video editing free apps/progrrammes. 👌I'm using power direct, but you might find something like video cut.

    I really appreciate your help, Ryan! I've learned a lot with this video! I have a question about teaching and I'd like to ask for your point of view: should the teacher speak in the native language of their student (if they can do it)? When is it good? When is it bad?

    • @EnglishTeacherRyan
      @EnglishTeacherRyan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Pedro - happy to help. That's a brilliant question. I'd say that using the L1 could be a great resource so long as you receive permission from the student in advance. Be sure to give your students ample opportunity to try to communicate in the target language, but the L1 is never shunned nor shamed, at least not in my classes. I'll chat more about this in the future. 😁
