- Dinu Lipatti plays Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, KV 467 on his last recital with orchestra
Conductor: Herbert von Karajan
Orchestra: The Lucerne Festival Orchestra
August 23, 1950
00:00 Allegro maestoso - Cadenza (by Dinu Lipatti) - Tempo I
15:15 Andante
22:29 Allegro vivace assai - Cadenza (by Lipatti) - Tempo I
"DINU LIPATTI was a very ill man when he made his last appearance with orchestra on the 23rd August 1950 at the Luserne Festival. Only four people were present at the morning rehearsal; his wife, Artur Schnabel, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and I (Walter Legge).
Karajan had already rehearsed the orchestral part on the previous day. Lipatti played the concerto through oncce only, omitting the cadenzas.
The cencert was broadcast, but owing to the rules of the Swiss Musicians Union, the tapes were destroyed three weeks after the transmission. For eight years, Madame Lipatti and I searched Europe in the hope of finding a recording taken from the air by an amateur. In 1959, two materialized in one week, both recorded by amateurs, one in Zürich and the other in Copenhagen. Angel's engineers in London worked for a year to produce from the better of these primitive originals the most acceptable sound"

It's our first Dinu Lipatti video. If you enjoyed listening, like it. We will release more of him in the future! :)

Subscriu total! Frumos și adevărat comentariu, mulțumesc!
Lipatti is unique. After listening to him, I can't listen to others. He is timeless.
Entièrement d'accord avec vous
Subscriu total.
This is straight up one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard
Lipatti is the greatest pianist of all time!
Entièrement d'accord avec vous
Superb!
Superb,genial,fara egal!
Multumiri pentru postare!
what a testament to the lack of knowledge of how to actually be great at the music we make for each other.
The final recital of a legend, amassing only 12k views in 7 years.
Un troupeau d'incultes effectivement
The best Pianist ever ! Unique
This was not played in his last recital. I don't think recitals have orchestras anyway.
He gave his last recital on September 16, 1950. This was, however, his last appearence with an orchestra.
Entièrement juste
Best recording of Schumann's Piano Concerto ever!
Yes, Schumanns BWV 467 in b flat minor is unique!
@@Pogouldangeliwitz what do you mean?
Entièrement d'accord avec vous
This is extraordinary, all the more so considering how ill Lipatti was at the time. The cadenzas (Lipatti's own) are so good they could almost have been written by Mozart.
Entièrement d'accord avec vous
Beautiful! Thank you so much :)
Thank you. Lipatti was a great person and musician. The Concerto is K. 467, not 267.
Thank you! My fault.
Merci Monsieur Rusconi for ever
Too beautiful !
Magnificent cadenzas !!
It can be stated with confidence that the Swiss Musicians Union in 1950 consisted of some of the least civilised people on the planet.

I can't believe the tapes were destroyed because of the Swiss Musicians Union !!!
💐❤️
and then Karajan, as always destroyed it. Poor Lipatti, such a wonderful Mozart pianist dragged down in the mud.
Yes ...
