As others have already pointed out this is not a new method but your approach is different in the you are recommending a full store reset every 4 days. I haven't had a chance to watch your previous video but I think I get a jist of it from the comments. My personal take on the method is to work items 90 days or older. Everyone needs to see what works for them. Thanks for the great content and your passion to help other resellers. ❤

Well here it goes. Very bad Sunday. So this morning I did another total reset on half of my store. Did 4000 items with the sell similar. This was at 7 am this morning my time (eastern). Well already picked up two very good sales and the views are up again. This is good news coming off a real bad non sale weekend. However its looking like you have to keep on refreshing your store just to get sales. After about day three forget it as its time to redo the items again. But happy for today so far anyhow. Ill keep the updates posting.

this is not an ideal situation by any means but it's one tool we can all use. and from here we can learn how to do other things. I'm looking into a few other things that there is a learning curve first and then another testing phase.

I took the plunge this afternoon as you both explained and I would have written earlier but so sorry i was too busy.... SHIPPING!!! OMG! 8 sales one after the other and the night isn't over yet -- and a ton of watchers so I've sent many offers. Thank you Thank you Thank you! It hasn't felt this way since April. I have a small store, been operating about 5 months as I'm retired and need extra $$. I totally agree with list similar, it's like tricking Ebay into thinking that you've had a big listing day with new items which shows that listing regularly does make an impact contrary to what Ebay reps would have you believe. I have been unwell and not been able to list for a week, my sales dropped too zero, as soon as I reset, bam! Sales started to filter through.

This is a good idea, I have been selling for about 7 months, I heard this unlist and sell similar form a few random reseller youtube channels my first 3 months into reselling, just combing the whole youtube for reseller content to learn from and this idea is wide and well known in the re-sell community with lots of different opinions on if it works or not, in my case yes It does work for me. Before my items automatically role over back to 30 day, I will take all items that have 5 days left and under and unlist and then sell similar, changing up the prices and the titles, promotion rates, and then relist them at the same time as List my regular 10 items so its like listing 15 or 20 items on those days i sell similar.
It really does boost the store, or it seems to for me, the community is all over the place on this topic, but I tend to do what works and not listen to the tubers who complain about what is not working, like your channel because you are looking for answers and not just complaining for hours. Lets get this money

I got no issue with anyone recommending this or doing this method. But I'm confident eBay will continue to try and stop it, do it while you can. I've seen all the issues we have with eBay play out in many other industries of the last 25 years. Online search, search monetization, mobile app stores, mobile advertising, Amazon, KDP, etc... loopholes are always taken advantage of and exploited to the nth degree, and then they are closed, I've seen it over and over again. Maybe I'll even take another look at this in some form, but I'm still focused primarily on figuring out where exactly eBay is going and how I can go there too. Lastly, I do believe things are mega-screwed up right now and eBay is just as confused as we are at the moment. At least that's how it's seemed for the last 45 days to me.

Agree. I spoke to a customer service rep a few weeks ago. They are aware of the end sell similar being overused. When I mentioned it, the call went from the usual "don't know, so sorry" to "Do you mind if I take notes and bring someone else into the conversation". They know it was TH-camrs giving out this advice. They wanted to know who. I told them I couldn't remember the channel names. I don't want Jeff and Maria to get caught up in this if it has a blowback.

    • @JLStanton1968
      @JLStanton1968 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Jeff and I have spoken about this and here's the cold hard sad truth: eBay screwed up with their April update, killing sales. People find some workarounds to save their businesses, then eBay says, "Oh, we know sellers are getting killed because of our incompetence, but we can't have them making money for themselves and our stockholders, so we're going to take this little thing away."
Isn't it crazy that eBay will take away working solutions that they profit from? And btw, taking this away will NOT increase their profits in other areas AS THEY'RE NOT SHOWING OUR ITEMS! I look forward to a day when Jamie Iannone's vision is put to rest and he's sent off into the sunset with his $20-$30 million dollar golden parachute for being awful at what he does. It's like, here's a book on 20 things to do if you're running a business. Jamie picks it up as CEO, talks to his marketing, etc to double check the stats, then systematically goes about working against those things, because, stupidity. How does one go about figuring out how bad a CEO is? Take a look at their earnings reports every quarter. Jamie has had nearly four years of fail. If the stockholders continue to keep him at the top, they deserve their upcoming losses.
Seriously, wouldn't it be nice if eBay devoted their time fixing the platform instead of taking things away from sellers, the people who do the bulk of the work and without whom profits for the stockholders couldn't be derived.

When they appeared to be very positive we wanted to share with the community because many were saying end and sell similar was dead or seeing very little results. we theorize that doing your entire store every 4 days really provides a big boost and nobody out there was really talking about this angle.

I can tell you another thing I tried a few months back. I tried sell similar with drip feeding listings, meaning I scheduled 400 of them every 30 minutes for however long that takes lol
I wanted to experiment to see if it worked like regular listing but I definitely have better results doing sell similar all at once. I think one at a time basically just gets lost in the shuffle of other sellers new listings whilst a bunch of them all at once has better chances of being clumped together. I assume that's why listing in once category at a time helps with sales too. Just thought I'd share :)

If you Google how many listed items eBay has… it’s 1.7 billion 😵‍💫 To share the size of my store… 2800 items, 90% clothing. (Which is high competition.) Last year I was doing 30k every 90 days, this year is 10k every 90 days. I am so desperate for sales I have promoted on 7%, sales running 17% on new items and 30% on stuff over a year old. I’ve run sales up to 50% off… I even have a coupon on all items for 15% off if they use it. It will be interesting to see the jump in sales, yesterday I did half my items and got 5 sales on sell similar items that I knew I had up to 50% off at one time. 273$ in sales yesterday up 26%. Also 7 out of 9 sales from yesterday sold with no promoted fees. That might be a negative for eBay even though they get paid regardless.

I do something similar, except I end my listings and update them before selling similar rather than submitting them as is. I sell primarily clothing, so I go to the storage bins that have the most aged inventory and work on those first. I take new pictures, update my titles and item specifics, and adjust my pricing as needed. After all that, I submit the new updated listing
My results have been good. Not only have those items been selling, but it has actually caused some of my older items to sell as well. I'm guessing it is from the increased traffic, it may be causing these buyers to look at other items in my store similar to what they searched for.
If you have a smaller store, I highly recommend doing this. For a larger store, it would be a good idea but would just be much more time consuming

Funny how the promoted listings are in the negative numbers. All my sales from the day one store reset resulted in 100% total organic sales and zero promoted sales. With the people saying that they may run out of listings (myself being one of them), I wonder if this would be effective on a smaller scale by ending and selling similar all the listings that should relist that day and either doing that daily, or ending and selling similar all the listings that will reset in the next 3 days and refreshing every 4th day. Whether it’s listing researching or watching TH-cam videos about it. And we are part-timers.

I am having a problem with my shipping being changed. I talked with some other sellers they are having the same problem. I’ve tried changing to flat pay free play and different options. But it keeps going back to ground advantage with large package measurements making my postage high. I am getting lookers but when they see this high shipping they don’t even watch. I had a customer call it to my attention. So I spend so much time having to go back everyday and check and change my shipping. Do you have a solution to this problem.

I sell some really large items on repeat, 30x30x6 inch boxes @ 9 pounds ea - calculated shipping UPS - and Ebay SYSTEMATICALLY overcharges the buyer on shipping EVERY SINGLE TIME. I have to go in and issue refunds to my buyers in excess of $50 EVERY TIME on shipping overcharges. I am sure when buyers see the shipping cost next to the item price in the search results or page view they just exit as the shipping ebay quotes is exorbitant. And as I am on the East Coast (Pennsylvania) I cannot in any conscience do Free Shipping and fold the shipping cost into the item price as shipping to Virginia from Pennsylvania is much, much cheaper than shipping to California or worse, Washington State - and I used to get buyers for these items from Cali and Washington state before the overcharging began. I don't even use EBAY SHIPPING for labels anymore anyway - I ship with Pirate Ship as their prices and customer service are outstanding -- their insurance is reasonably priced (I insure these items) and they make good on 100% selling price on even my most expensive items. Not long ago USPS lost a Pirate Ship insured pkg value $3900. Took Pirate Ships underwriter 4 weeks to be sure the box was really lost but they paid up the full $3900 value.

Why, when I have 11 watchers, 9 of whom I sent out offers to 14 days ago, is ebay only allowing me to send out offers to the two newer watchers who have not gotten an offer yet? Judging with your numbers shown on your wife's store, she seems to get a TON of external views + organic views, but little to no promoting views. Mine is the opposite and I wonder if that's because we promote differently. I have Dynamic Ads at 10% and my views I have half Organic and Half promoted but very little external traffic. I wonder if you also promoted at a high % or dynamically if you would then increase views even more or if that would drop your external views and push more into promoted views after a reset.
My next reset I do later, I may try promoting back at 2% instead and see if that causes less page views overall for me or increases my external views.
Also I do hope they eventually fix this and not to close any loop holes, I would like them to fix the overall visibility issues on the website for all sellers so that they don't NEED to do this anymore, even though it does help for now. I wish they would get rid of all the corporations on eBay and bring it back to its roots when it was everyday sellers like us, mom and pop shops, vintage items or used items at a good deal that you couldnt find on your own. I really feel that eBay trying to compete with Amazon will eventually kill them.

I sold an item that was 8-10 months old using this and my store has more visibility but sales are still really really bad (that was my only sale). I think the amount of open returns has negatively impacted my store but they're not legit returns or perhaps because I refunded a customer without asking him to return, it was a car stereo that neither of us knew needed a dealership code, will make sure of that in the future but honestly probably just avoid old factory honda stereos forever now. That same customer threatened to report me and then said that he did report me all within a 30minute window when I was in the kitchen. I asked ebay for business and they said I had no flags or issues on my account but it still seems like something is going on if not then the economy just took a massive dump when this war news hit, it's a sheer drop of from the action I was getting before & my daily time spent on the store.

It's ridiculous when selling women's clothing that returns have any negative impact whatsoever. Our return rate is under 3% which I think is amazing considering we're probably 60% womens 40% mens items and yet this weekend we had 2 returns open up, both did not fit, and suddenly we went from selling 4-8 items a day to 1... then suddenly one evening we sold 5 items within an hour, then another 24 hours with nearly zero activity. I don't understand why it's these crazy peaks and valleys ups and down it's extremely frustrating nothing seems consistent ever we don't know if we're waking up to send 15 offers or 1 or 0 even... may sell 1 items at 10pm or we may sell 8 or 9 back to back days. I drives me crazy.

(why they would take it away) Very taxing on their servers I would suspect, I don't know the number of sellers who watch TH-cam but when you think about that many sell similar operations it could actually screw up the site potentially. But we're just trying to get some sales out of all the hard work we put in. Days without a single sale or days where you're only making $3 per day profit is ridiculous. Seems like they want to take a bunch of people for the yearly subscription rate & then shut down the site suddenly one day based on the way it has been going.

The End and Sell-Similar strategy has been around for a long time. It's nothing new here except that these guys are saying to do as many as your store allotment allows you, or to up your store subscription rate so that you can ESS more frequently. Heck, if a lot of sellers increase their store subscriptions so they can ESS more frequently, or they accidentally go over their allotment and get charged insertion fees, then that's a positive for eBay's revenue. There are numerous ways to improve visibility in search. ESS is one way and is pretty easy to do as long as you keep organized and don't accidentally delete or go over listing limits.

Sometimes they'll be a small display in the cereal aisle that has nothing to do with cereal. It's an advertising tactic to trick a consumer into thinking maybe I need that or want to try that. Or when I walk into Target and I'm jamming through everything to get to what I want but occasionally something will catch my eye and I'll buy it. They're not looking for 100% conversion but smaller percentages.
