Thanks so much, Bella. That is really nice of you to say. I'm glad the style of my videos works for you. You. Really have a gift at teaching! Loved this and ur deep sea adventure so far! Especially nice when you do easier games bc not many content creators do it so I always gravitate to your channel as one of my absolute favourites!
Thank you so much for those kind words, Nancy. I'm happy you enjoyed the video. I try to keep a nice mix of lighter and heavier games on the channel, because I play all weights and types of games regularly. Definitely check out my playthroughs for the Button Shy games (I have a playlist with all of them organized). I also recommend Cyberion, Tiny Towns, and Tin Realm playthroughs. And check out my Top 10 Simple Solos list if you haven't already. For Northwood is definitely one of my favorites of the lighter solo games. Thanks for watching the video!
I have never been a fan of trick-taking games, but this looks so fun and the cards are adorable. It could be how you teach. A lot of games I wouldn't normally play always seem more approachable when you do a play-thru. Great video, as usual, Shaggy! Keep 'em coming!
Thanks Tracie! This feels more like a puzzle game with special powers than a traditional trick-taking game. So I don't think you need to like the mechanism to enjoy this one. The art is adorable and the play time spot on. I think this one hits my Top 10 simple solos. Thanks for watching!
You do some of the best board game teaching on TH-cam. I even enjoy watching your playthroughs for games I don’t ever plan to buy. Your passionate, comprehensive, and easy to understand tutorials are what keeps bringing me back to your channel. Keep up the great work, and I can’t wait to see what you feature next!
That is so nice of you to say. I really appreciate those kind compliments. Thank you. I'm just glad you find my style enjoyable. I hope you continue to find value in the channel for a long time!
I ended up picking up this game because of this video and I really enjoy it. Very happy with my purchase; thank you for helping me spend my money wisely! It’s such a cute theme and I love the variability with the mission booklet included. I have a feeling it will provide me with quick solo fun for a long time to come.
I'm so happy to hear that. I'm glad the game fits your tastes and needs. I have been on vacation and took this one with me. It is a great game to have in the collection. Have fun!
Definitely! Very small box and small footprint. Perfect for taking with you on trips or even to a coffee shop. Nice late night game as well. Simple but good decisions and tension. Thanks for watching!
Also a double thank you is in order. With this out of stock in Canada, I've pre-ordered the physical copy, but also used the free PNP files available on BGG to finally learn how to make custom decks in Tabletop Simulator. I've played a few times tonight and love this game :)
It has become one of my favorite small, quick simple solo games. The different ruler cards really keep things fresh from game to game. Highly recommended! Thanks so much for checking out the video!
@@TotallyTabled Of course! Love your videos as always! Would it also be possible for you to do a playthrough or playthroughs of Under Falling Skies and its campaigns? I absolutely love the game's mechanics and theme and it would be awesome to see you play it! It's Totally Alright (pun intended) if you're eyeing other games!
Whoa, a perfect game! Had me on the edge of my couch ;) Seriously, really enjoyed the play through. Adding this one to my wishlist for sure. Looks fun!
Very interesting solo game! I already had this on my radar for a while. Afaik there is a publisher who got the rights for German localization. So, I‘ll have to wait for it (or find an EN copy) but I think it will be worth it. In the video, there were some decisions, I don‘t fully agree with, but hey: perfect score, so nothing to blame for!
This is definitely a great, quick solo puzzle game using trick-taking. It feels like a lighter Friday or a Button Shy game with more cards. Excellent travel/cafe/late night solo game. And there were definitely decisions even I don't agree with! :) But if it works, it works. Thanks for watching, Oliver!
Great video, are you sure the king of leaves exchange card with top of deck was done correctly? i would of thought you would have to play a trick against the 5 leaves you discarded.
Yep, you are correct. I misread that one. It would have made things easier -- I would have placed the 2 of claws on top of the deck and then immediately been able to sluff the 6 of leaves. Oh well, still worked. I'll but a note in the video about the mistake. Thanks for watching!
Just bought this one recently and I'm glad I had a very good solo trick taking game that is SUPER handy. I was thinking initially to sleeve the cards then realize they won't fit anymore in the box😅. The box is so handy I can bring it anywhere even in the office, everyday. The game's art is so cute too ❤. Nice gameplay.
I totally agree! Such a great game to take out into the world and pull out when you have some time to kill. Quick setup, relatively small footprint, good amount of replayability. Love it. Thanks for checking out the playthrough!

I was waiting for this playthrough! Awesome as usual. This is the second time I play a trick taking game and specially solo. I lost terrible the first time so I thought it wasn’t for me but after 3 games, it is for me. I haven’t achieved 16 points though 😂
Thanks Solitaire Gambit! I really enjoy the game for what it does. As a simple solo game with interesting decisions that plays quick, is portable, not a lot of table space -- it fits right in there with the Button Shy lineup for me. Great game. I really appreciate your long support of the channel! Thanks so much.
I played this game for the first time whilst watching this video. It's funny because the first couple of dialogues for me went almost exactly like yours (I even used the same allies just moments before you did).

May I know if the play you made with King of Leaves at 11:20 was the correct way to resolve its effect? I was expecting you to put one on top of the draw pile but was surprised that you placed a card in the discard pile instead.
Thanks for the play through. It was a bit confusing from the start not knowing what is meant by 'trick' and 'trump'. For sure, just by skimming the rules, watching you play was much easier to get up and playing. I've one question, at 31:51, shouldn't you have won that trick since you had a card matching the suit of the ruler which I was pretty sure you said earlier on, the number doesn't matter?
Sorry for the confusion. The language of trick-taking games is so engrained in me that I don't even realize I'm using it. I've been playing them for over 30 years. To answer your question -- you must follow suit if you can. If you do, then the higher number wins. If you don't follow suit, the numbers don't matter -- you either play the trump suit and win or don't play the trump suit and lose. In this game, the trump suit is the one that matches the leader. In the example at 31:51, I am following suit so my lower number loses. It happens to be the trump suit but that doesn't matter because I'm following suit. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching!
@@TotallyTabled Thanks for responding, and for explaining that one point in question. I need to remember that if the leader plays the trump suit, the numbers DO matter versus if the leader does not play the trump suit and the player does, the numbers DO NOT matter. 😊
