  • Tudor Pelagos Review: GREAT VALUE! Reviewing my Tudor Pelagos ETA. I discuss the differences between the ETA and in-house movement version. The size and look. The refinement. And why I sold my Rolex Submariners and kept the TUDOR PELAGOS.

    Pretty much buy this watch and everything else never gets worn. Mine does about +1 sec a month with accuracy plus how light it is. Its the only watch I wear and unless it just goes to crap its the only watch I want. Good review.

      Pablo-Thanks for watching and the comment. This would be a great watch if someone was in the market for ONLY one watch for all purposes (along with the Rolex Submariner).

    Great review, few things I would point out:
    1. When changing the strap I would not recommend to push towards the dial as it will damage the edges - they are pretty precise and very sharp visually, so upon exiting the push bar will release and leave a dent in that edge, it would be small but visible and not fixable FYI. I would use A-style removal tool where u can unload both ends at the same time, or get a nice Bergeon tool and master it :) but the strap has a. tendency of falling towards the dial even by itself so look out!
    2. I too love the action of the bezel but it does have slight rotational play before it clicks into place, that is evident in this video too (18:17), when I was buying the watch at AD I noticed that and. it was an uncomfortable situation cause my expectations we shaped by reviewers saying that there is absolutely 0 play, there is, I've checked about 5 other blackbays and LHD, which felt a little smoother but I guess it's normal that they might feel slightly different, anyway the dealer only had 1 of the kind I wanted and it took some sweating to pull the trigger which I don't regret for a second.
    Cheers!

    I believe the Tudor pelagos is the best tool watch out there at the moment better than the submariner and even the deep sea dweller because their stainless steel luckily I am one of the first 100 to get the pelagos left hand drive the one good thing about the left-hand drivers you can wear it on both hands if you don't like the wind is sticking in your hands especially when you wear the bracelet loose then it is a great choice but for me I'm left-handed and I love it I would never ever buy a submariner now I've got this watch great review bud much appreciated to watch this video

      Thanks for watching and the comments! I agree with everything you said there. I think the Sub has become a status symbol and lost its real tool watch roots.

    I decided on the newer Pelagos within-house movement because of its 70-hour power reserve.

    Great Video but one correction, it's a ceramic bezel, not coated aluminum. Cheers

      Thanks for that correction. And thanks for watching! I think that's what I intended to say. I'm just so used to saying ceramic these days...I appreciate the comment.

    Nice to know someone gives a review from a submariner owner's pov.

    Nice video! I own the inhouse version and for me the 70hr power reserve is a real plus. Having a 5 watch collection it's nice to be able to switch between watches and still having your watch running when you get back to it after 2 days. But the dial in the two liner is better balanced. Don't know why they dropped the white indice at 3 o'clock on the inhouse version. Still a great piece, especially with the silicone freesprung balance it's an accuracy monster.

      I'm thinking about picking up the blue in-house version.

      Think that would make a nice combo with the black one. If you don't have to sell the black one i'd say go for it. I had to sell my BB burgundy to purchase the Pelagos. Although i miss my BB now and then i don't regret selling in favor of the Pelagos.

      TW AutoMech I cant decide between the Blue Pelagos or Blue Heritage Black Bay. I’m definitely not selling the ETA Pelagos. That’s a keeper.

      If i was in your shoes i'd go with the Black Bay blue. A tool diver and a dressy diver makes one hell of a combo imo! 👌

    Is that an Everest rubber watch band?

    • @MichaelPhelpsMedia
      @MichaelPhelpsMedia  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kevin Davis Kevin-It’s the Tudor brand rubber strap that comes in the box with the watch. I have not been able to determine if Tudor or Rolex makes them in-house or contracts with a company like Everest. It looks and feels very similar to an Everest though.

    Titanium cloth rubs the scratches out so simply brings it up like new with virtually no effort

    The question should be: as good as Pelagos? Answer: no. From a diver standpoint, Pelagos is better in every aspect.

    • @MichaelPhelpsMedia

      Reserved 86 thanks for the comment. I agree with that statement. Purely from the diver standpoint, the Pelagos is superior!

      Just wore the Pelagos today. Lume is still there (or at least it looks like it). I'll grab the .raw video file and zoom in to see if I can see what you saw.

      Sophisticated Neanderthal I notice that too , by the way I have seen some people say online the some of the lume for pelagos will fall off. I am a pelagos owner too but nothing happen yet.

    B/W? For real? It's supposed to be an informative review and you block out the color spectrum? Be smart not clever!

    • @MichaelPhelpsMedia
      @MichaelPhelpsMedia  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for checking it out. I shot the top down view with a Canon G7X in color with no color grading at all (you can see the Island Watch logo in blue on the glove). I appreciate the comment. I think I need to use a different background than the black desktop because it DOES look like B&W now that you mention it!
