The way it builds through the different phases, the gorgeous instrument choices and some of the more sentimental passages makes me think you really ARE fighting against someone who isn't really supposed to exist. It's haunting and really difficult to top! :O
Plus the fact that you fight him alone with Riku the friend that Sora has been searching since the end of KH1, it was really fitting that after all the mess Xemnas did that prevented Sora and Riku to be reunite you get to beat him with Riku, and the ending was actually more satisfying in KH2 for some reason.
KH3's final boss just sort of slaps some leitmotifs together with no real consideration for their meaning (why is Rage Awakened a part of the Sora vs Xehanort battle?). It kinda shows that Shimomura (who is very good at leitmotif, let's be real) wasn't the one who composed KH3's final boss theme... Compare this to, say, KH2, where every boss theme has a purpose. Apparently the final boss was at one point going to be even longer, but I guess people’s heads would explode from how epic that would be so they had to cut some of it.
No KH2 or beyond tracks displeases me greatly. It has the by far the best soundtrack in the series; why do you think the later games almost exclusively used kh2 remixes instead of kh1 songs? I still like the music we got, but it’s slightly disappointing.
When you look at it, there's really no reason why Kingdom Hearts couldn't have ended with KH2. The final remnant of Xehanort was defeated, Sora, Riku and Kairi were reunited, the Organization were all defeated, and Roxas and Namine accepted their places alongside Sora and Kairi. Couple that with this boss song having the most concrete feel of finality in the whole franchise, and this would be a great finale. The letter in a bottle at the end felt like it should have been the start of a brand new journey, not a continuation of this Xehanort storyline.
I actually feel like Phases 2 and 3 would definitely fit Elder Princess Shroob. Seriously, how is it that Yoko's compositions sound like they could fit in multiple franchises at once (not counting Super Smash Bros)?
@Daniel Brozovic i can see what you're trying to say but you're completely wrong if you think kh2 is better graphically and technologically speaking over kh3.

Ironic that despite the years going by how much more of a threatening imposing figure xemnas is compared to xehanort the way people show fear at his strength and every action in the plot is under his gaze. The finality in this music surpasses the final boss in kh3, while the game led to everyone pretty much getting a happy ending it just felt so unfufilling because 90% of 3 is essentially padding to the final confrontation where in 2 we are constantly facing the organization taking members down one by one watching their plans unravel yet xemnas remains completely unfazed.

Gilberto Forni In my opinion, Darkness of the Unknown is one of Yoko’s best works in her career as a composer.
Xemnas still claims the throne of being best final boss
I just had an eargasm
"Nothingness...is..ETERNAL!"
And that scream from Xemnas...chills.
His voice is too raspy in KH3 so you don't the same effect from his voice..
See my Hearts Power.... feel it... know it... accept it!
Thank you finally someone uploaded it together now I don't have to listen to ads between phases :P
6:13 gives me incredible chills, just wow.
Remember when Kirby’s astral birth Void went Darkness of the Unknown?
I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO THOUGHT EXACTLY THAT!!!!!!! IT'S SO TRUE!!!!!!!!
And both of them are my favorite final bosses!
huh?
@@RuneKatashima I think he's referring to how you have to fight Astral Birth Void's flying form in a shooter segment, similar to this vid's phase one Xemnas dragon form.
@@jadenkarpoff9158 and maybe also how, similar to Darkness of the Unknown, the song changes tone to a more melancholic one in the last phase
"Why do you despise the Void?"
This is peak Yoko
Shoutouts to the homie for coming back to not only heart comments, but also adding the phases as chapters in the video
And now the song is even more appropriate with the lightsaber volume noise :)
I thank my aunt that showed me this game or I would of never experienced such greatness
Not actually a part of KH2FM nor 2.5 but my favorite line from Xemnas....
As your flesh bears the sigil... You shall forever be known as that... Of a recusant...
3ZKZ Sting Dream Drop Distance
Xemnas, Making you Look up words in the dictionary since 2005
Imagine this playing in the background durung a basketball game or if this fight was just they challenge Xemnas to basketball or if we fit a Coach Bolton summon.
This track slaps more than anything in KH3.
"Sora, are you certain you can trust Riku?"
"Riku, are you not jealous of Sora?"
This is absolutely perfect! I had to go through I don't know how many videos to find this one! Awesome job and thanks a lot, dude!
That transition into phase two is just divine.
After Sora+Riku laser:
Limit:
-Session
Sora:"Riku"
Riku:"Out of my way"
Xemnas:"Cursed... keyblade..."
This needs more views. You did a great job
I didn't appreciate this song enough the first few times I played this game
"Cursed, Keyblade..."
The best song ever
When I tell you I’m crying 😭. I miss the old times
Me too.
The legend of Yoko Shimomura prevails
5:47 the moment this kicked in during the final phase, i got goosebump'd to kingdom come
*NOTHINGNESS IS A TURTLE*
Nice turtle
Apparently the final boss was at one point going to be even longer, but I guess people’s heads would explode from how epic that would be so they had to cut some of it.
4:20〜dollar and a dream 3 💵
Anger and hate... Are supreme!
We shall go together !!
Who's here after Sora announcement in Smash?
No KH2 or beyond tracks displeases me greatly. It has the by far the best soundtrack in the series; why do you think the later games almost exclusively used kh2 remixes instead of kh1 songs? I still like the music we got, but it’s slightly disappointing.
@@jadenkarpoff9158 Yeah when they showed the list i immediatly noticed the darkness of unknown missing :( That's i got here xD
Who's here after the Sora in smash reveal?
Sora: riku!!
Riku: get out if my way!!
It's all you got?
(special attack)
Awesome! A well made completion of the incredible battle! Thank you so much! This is perfect to download
Thank you !!
I totally agree
Yeah dude, I legit think this all the time. It literally wrapped up every plot point.
@MoonJoe Not when you factor in Final Mix scenes and Lingering Will's existence, of course.
part of me wants to learn piano just to shred to this
when your games been loading for over 20 minutes and its stops at 99% and you dont know if it froze or not
This is right up there with FF8’s The Extreme!
I actually feel like Phases 2 and 3 would definitely fit Elder Princess Shroob.
Seriously, how is it that Yoko's compositions sound like they could fit in multiple franchises at once (not counting Super Smash Bros)?
Xemnas’s newer theme in Dream Drop Distance and KH3 ReMind will never match this masterpiece 👏🏼 truly one of the best boss fights of all time
Has anyone ever tried to edit FFXV so this plays as the final boss track? I think it'd fit.
Well it did fit in a fit video if you know what I mean
love this remix great work
Ladies and Gentlemen, the great Yoko! Shimimura.
Best KH Battle Theme.
The best final battle in the series. Last boss in KH3 felt a bit underwhelming.
Kh2 is superior to kh3 in every way, except graphics.
@Daniel Brozovic i can see what you're trying to say but you're completely wrong if you think kh2 is better graphically and technologically speaking over kh3.
@@gianperez2103 Are you in the generation that think graphics mean anything? Story, combat and gameplay is what comes first. Graphics comes later. This battle had it all.
@@jakomioftherose2434 bro KH2 is one of my favorite games of all time and is easily the best KH game bar none. But, I will admit that KH3’s combat is much more fluid feeling.
These songs are super good in Beat Saber. Like, all of the KH battle themes. Hell of a workout lol
2:08
4:20
Goated theme
When Ansem listens to Fate of the Unknown
The fact that this or the DDD version didn't make into Smash is a crime
Its a shame
I can imagine Goku Black and Zamatsu fighting against Xemnas
Fit vs rusher
Yes
Yay
On the oldest anarchy server in minecraft
Ironic that despite the years going by how much more of a threatening imposing figure xemnas is compared to xehanort the way people show fear at his strength and every action in the plot is under his gaze. The finality in this music surpasses the final boss in kh3, while the game led to everyone pretty much getting a happy ending it just felt so unfufilling because 90% of 3 is essentially padding to the final confrontation where in 2 we are constantly facing the organization taking members down one by one watching their plans unravel yet xemnas remains completely unfazed.
You are the best man
This unbelievable banger
