If you listen to richard’s voice and the original singer from the music band Journey, you would think they were the same singer with how much they sound so much alike.

Richard performed this on stage once before AGT. The students at the school he works at recorded him singing this in 2022, they posted it on his Tiktok and it was see by Journey's lead singer, Steve Perry. He contacted Richard and asked him to perform this song when Journey played a small venue near his home town. This was during Covid so only a couple hundred was there in the stands. But he sang this song with Steve Perry in 2022, his only on stage experience before going on AGT.
He said in an interview that he sings and loves Survivor. If he sings Eye of the Tiger, ..it's over. Its funny, this season is loaded with talent, but so far Richard just stands out above them all. An everyday man, unreal voice, humble. That's alone gets him to the final. And he is the most watched audition on youtube so far. And thats always indicator on who wins. But he still is the favorite at this point. He just stands out from the rest.
I cried before he started smiled through the whole song and cried some more at the end. Great voice. The searching part was so fun 😂❤

I first heard this a couple of days ago. Cried like a baby for him then and did again now. It's such a heartwarming video. The judges were amazed and he's SO GOOD! I can't wait for more from this humble man! Great reaction Lee!
There was another famous Janitor who did very well. His name was Cliff Edwards. He was born in a small town of Hannibal, Missouri. He went by the name of Ukulele Ike ad did small shows. He moved to California to look for work. He was working at Disney Studios as the night Janitor. The cartoonists were working over one evening and heard him sing as he mopped the floors. They grabbed him immediately. We all have known him as Jiminy Cricket.

He sings in a cover band on weekends..sings Journey, .38 Special, Guns n Roses, Alice in Chains, Led Zepplin. Etc.. the band (Manopause) has a Facebook page.
He has sung this song so many times before. But now, however, it means so much for his future life, of course he is nervous.

Simon was wrong. It's not just America who has fallen in love with him but the rest of the planet as well. I've been seeing reaction from all over the globe of his performance from a couple of weeks ago and how so many folks have just gotten into his story 100%. He's been on morning programs since and interviewed constantly. He's literally become a mega star. And we all have to wait until the next round to see what else he can do.
