I think it is funnier that there was a small cheese at the very end. Imagine the dedication it takes to find a cheese at the very end when all the other obvious cheeses were blocked off. People were STIL checking for cheese after getting denied so many times. And it paid off!

Next one like this, try putting slowsters instead of invisible walls. I think it would be even more frustrating to players to have their speed reduced so low that they either can't make the track, or that it wastes more time than the shortcut gained. And it would make them take more time waiting.

This is the first Zeepkist video I ever watched. I had never heard of the game, but this video was randomly recommended to me one day, and I decided to watch it. I have since watched all of your Zeepkist videos, and I have to say that this is probably the most pleasant and wholesome TH-cam video game series I have ever watched. Thank you for making these.
12:45 I would like to mention to yannic that as a keyboard player, this map has no significant controller advantage. I played it for 10 minutes and set a 59.426. If anyone has GTR they're willing to check. To my knowledge, there are only 2 maps that are impossible on keyboard, and only one other that has a noticeable advantage for controller.
Every shortcut is just a tunnel spiral that make you feel like you are going faster, but has an uphill at the end to drop you speed back to normal before putting you back on the track far behind everyone that was behind you.
Ooh! You should do a 7-minute track that _starts_ by doing the "fake shortcut but actually stops you" so that they anticipate every shortcut is fake and do the track normally... but _then_ in the second half of the track all the shortcuts are real. You have _just_ enough time to do one run of the map, so people won't necessarily notice that the shortcuts suddenly work unless they're right behind you or see your time is way lower.
A fun part of this video was the "fire" in the in-game chat. Whether it was accidentally started by kAN or not, it was actually hilarious to try and read it.
He just worded his "i liked dappers track more" absolutely terribly (no reason for saying it at all obvsly) and then got lost in an argument trying to explain himself. I suspect they're pretty young and will hopefully take this as a learning experience :D

Love the track kan. Chat was getting angry over defending you, when someone made a comment that *could* have been taken offensively but wasn't intended to be, because they stated a preference of hunting for cheese vs racing.
If you're actually wondering where lose speed compared to the 0:59 times, it's mostly when you hop as the track changes from sloping left to right or vice-versa. It's faster if you go through the point that doesn't cause a hop, even if that means taking a weirder angle in relation to the rest of the track.
I like how Kan keeps missing the cheese at the end by going for the right side wall ride, and not the left side over inner - where you avoid the tree Dapper was talking about.
You should make a completely normal track that seems like it's different, but it's just completely normal, not painful, and mess with people psychologically
I get people's sentiment. Basically they would like a map that isn't based around whether there is or isn't cheese. It's more mentally relaxing when the track sends a consistent message. It's harder to get TH-cam engagement with that way though. People click on videos that intentionally screw with peoples' minds.
You should have a track with a bunch of shortcuts, but they are covered by a spinning plate with a hole in it so 75% of the time you can not go through it.... and they all spin at different speeds so it is pure luck to pick a path that works.

I think the big driver of the controversy here was that the map with shortcuts would have been a more fun map to play with tunnels, jumps, and wallrides while the track you forced everyone to drive with invisible walls is just much less interesting.
i think it would be funny to add to this track idea to make counter intuitive boosters , so instead of taking inner curves on the turns , you get a boost on the outer curves , ontop of adding more fake shortcuts with one real one one in the end that slows you to a crawl to the end as a final troll
That glass tube out of a mountain sounds really cool! One of these days a track where you need to do a tricky flip to get into it for about a second or two save could be nice!

Every shortcut has another, even more hidden shortcut. Its not enough to find the cheese. You also have to find the cheese cheese, and then the cheese cheese cheese.
I personally prefer maps like this over dappers... dappers cheese maps just invalidate the normal track, like there is no point in even making the normal track. Also makes it basically not replayable, as everyone just goes for the cheese which, ones again, usually invalidates the rest of the track -.-
I hope this is all culminating into 1 big shortcut frenzy where you have it all randomly scattered throughout the track: forced shortcuts, forced avoidance of the shortcuts, bad shortcuts, real but optional shortcuts, etcetera. Everything! Also, I don't know how well it can be done in Zeepkist, but would it be possible to make an underground track that looks like you have to loop around: each checkpoint looks like 2 separate checkpoints (but they're really just 1 big checkpoint), with directional boosts to prevent backtracking, and it looks like it loops back to the start, but really the second "lap" is secretly 1 floor up or down (use pipes or something to conceal the elevation change, and have the ceilings very low to minimize the elevation change), but is otherwise a carbon copy (including a finish on floor 1 you can't use due to only having half of all checkpoints, but have the start be somewhere out of sight and un-backtrackable to conceal the lack of new racers). The joke of this track would be that "lap 2" has its shortcuts open, while "lap 1" has its shortcuts closed.
If you are taking suggestions for tracks, I'd love to see one that is just the bell curve for times: Run the track normally -> Using all the shortcuts -> Run the track normally (Optimized)
WR times in TrackMania is some of the least smooth chaos you can see. Doesn't matter if the map flows smooth, its sometimes faster to just not be smooth.
Make a track based on chutes and ladders. The normal track is the back and forth of the board but there are "shortcuts" where ever there is a chute or a ladder but the chutes end up leading you backwards but you can still finish the track

KAN I made a spleef for you to try for multiple players Monday, look under Kane Fury, spleef. I did have a bit of trouble with the cars but i fixed as best i could but i think it's a little bug.
Maybe now make a track where all the shortcuts aren't really shortcuts. You can take those paths and finish them, but they'll all either be a longer path or massively reduce the speed. I wonder how people would react to that lol

The reason behind why people talk/ complain about your tracks and not dapper pulling a 10-second time at the end, by time dapper does his quick time there's less than a minute sometimes only seconds so you'd only have time for like 2 people to comment and race over.
Mad late I know, but I think people dislike the fake shortcuts because of how it punishes the player for exploring the map. The added fun of looking for something to get better results and being rewarded for the search is what makes shortcuts fun. I also feel like if your gonna go out of your way to want people to just drive the track. The normal path should have more to offer. Either make it more unique, aesthetically pleasing, or more challenging to make up for what you actively take away.

What about a track where there are no checkpoints on the "track" so people have to find the "shortcuts"? And you have to return to the track in between shortcuts.
It would be really funny if you made a track with a bunch of fake shortcuts, but one real shortcut, so you use gaslight everyone into thinking there's not a shortcut, but there really is.
Instead of invisible walls, make one where every shortcut skips a different checkpoint
I love this idea somebody takes all these shortcuts not realizing they missed 4 checkpoints and cant finish.
Or make the shortcuts work but actually be slower than the main track

Play, roblox the game build a boat for treasure, once you get a lot of stuff, it can be a cool game to engineer stuff, and a good sandbox.
