  • This massive untouched 1920s victorian abandoned high school was built around 1923 in a quaint village on the east coast of the united states. A new high school was built in 1959 and this property was used as a grade school until a new grade school was completed in the late 1970s leaving this property vacant. This school was forgotten over 40 years ago! Let's go on another urbex adventure!

This place just kept on giving! So many cool remnants of the past. Please consider subscribing and sharing on other sites like Facebook. I love making these videos and would love to grow this community to be huge. We are almost at 10,000 subscribers and that’s because you guys rock! It’s taken almost 3 years but it’s definitely worth it.

The two oldest schools I went to, one built in the '20s and the other built in the '40s, had so much more charm and character than the newer schools I went to. Sadly, those older schools are long gone. The US has a bad habit of tearing down and replacing buildings before they get remotely old.

What an awesome find! Such an old building so naturally decayed, without a lot of vandalism, is quite unusual; especially since judging from the traffic sounds, it is not off the beaten track. Abandoned bikes left behind is unusual too. Excellent video!

The “tiered” or elevated room was either a band or choir room, at least at our high school it was, and our old grade school, which looked a lot like this one, and was build in 1905 or thereabouts. My husband went to the same HS as I did and the middle school we went to was the old HS, his GPA graduated from there back in the 1940’s. Those were neat old schools, real sad they’re gone!!

Yeah this place was weird that it doesn’t look like the building was ever re-purposed for anything and they left a huge amount of at one time valuable property like books and stuff. It’s hard to tell in the video but the ceilings were so tall and the place was really just larger than life.

My high school was built in the 1920's and had one tiered classroom, which was the music room. It didn't have desks because that wouldn't have been very helpful for practicing our instruments, but my vote is still a music room. The large closet on the side could've stored instruments (ours had one too) and when the students were practicing, they could've stood in the front row or at the bottom. Or there wasn't a band, just a chorus and/or a music class. I think I remember our music teacher saying that the tiers were better for acoustics, but it's been a while so I could be wrong.

Reminds me of my old elementary scool. Built in 1918 and closed in mid 80's. It still stands and is maintained by some guy who lives in it. If I hit the lottery I offer him a price he couldn't refuse and live in it plus make it a Community Center/Hall for events. Huge kitchen for catering as well! So many possibilities.

This school was incredible!! So many cool things...on top of the bird poop. Lol. The seat on the bike with the long handlebars is called a “banana seat”. Very popular in the late 60’s to early 70’s. I know you said it would be getting dark, but for future reference it would be nice if you could pan around an entire room slowly so we can see what you see. Plus it would be nice if you could stop a little longer on things like old door knobs, woodwork and doors, books, old chairs and furniture, ect. ect. Would have been nice to see the dates on some of the books. The skylight and the entrance where the ceiling angles came together were beautiful. I can’t imagine attending such a beautiful school. Thanks for this awesome video! Stay safe!! 😊

I agree with Amber Dawn on the "elevated room" being a band or choir room, particularly (at least in your video) since that room was so close to the auditorium and stage. I went to several schools like this in Ohio and our choir and band rooms had these bleacher like areas. Older buildings in Dayton, Xenia, and Jamestown still have these. You can see them in the movie "Mr. Holland's Opus."

    • @OnceOccupied

I never thought of that! It does make sense though. At the time they were just kind of weird because of their location.

This is actually in pretty good shape for a place that's been abandoned for over 40 years. Compare it to Grand Prairie School abandoned in 1990 and most of the upstairs floor had literally collapsed after less than 30 years abandoned. This place it seems that 90% of the floors are semi-stable, at least. The gym in particular is holding up remarkably well, looks like it was abandoned only 10 years ago! Seems to have been very well built, 40+ years exposed to the elements will mess any building up.
Also, at 17:17 - I don't like graffiti either but a specimen that's older than I am, wow.
