it was interesting hearing about how the yarn is printed (and not dyed). i always wondered how they managed to dye colorways with such specific, consistent sequences of colors, but it makes perfect sense that it was printed. it would be nice to go to the factory one day and get a 'behind the scene' look at that part of the process. i love your "the Scream" colorway.

      Dear Arne and Carlos,
Thank you for such an interesting video...it is fascinating to learn about the link between your creative ideas and the technology which develops your inspiration into these beautiful yarns.
I have such horrid memories of learning to knit socks in school that I have never attempted to make a pair of socks since! But I think you have persuaded me to try ...the colourway inspired by ‘The Scream’ is my favourite...., but I liked them all. (And although seagulls can be a nuisance, the colouring of their feathers is beautiful too, especially on the young gulls..fabulous patterns of fawns and browns).Best Wishes to you both. I look forward to your next video.

Loved your explanation on how the yarn was made from your imagination. Yes, Carlos you never can have too many ( two drawers ) of handmade socks! Someone asked how much it cost to knit a pair of socks. Told me to just go to a store an buy a bag of socks to "get more bang for my buck." My answer was its customized to fit my foot. They're a dream to wear. An it recyclable! You can't do that with manufactured socks after 6 months.

I save all my sock yarn leftovers, including the yellow section from Regia. During lockdown, I knitted it all into a pair of socks, using the helix method with two colours on the go at once. I also knitted them “two at a time”, so I could use every scrap, and “magic loop”, which was a new challenge. I did end up in a tangle from time to time. I ended up with a beautiful, if a bit zany, pair of socks. My daughter described them as “sisters, not twins”; they are also known as my “lockdown socks”..... oooops, now I don’t have any darning yarn.....time to buy some new sock yarn....”Mountains and Fjords” in blue, I think. Thank you for explaining about the maths/science behind your sock yarns....fascinating. 🤓

CathAfloat funny to read your comment as I also knit with socks with scraps. Different colored cuff, toe and heels. Biggest problem is connecting superwash threads, they don’t felt and sometimes come loose...always something.

      @cathafloat1519 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Lisa McInnis Thrifty, through and through! I always sew in my ends....never tried felting them, though it sounds like it doesn’t always work. I am having a go at Arne & Carlos’ “GAUTE - Spiral socks with no heel”. I did a star toe, ie a non directional toe, so that they can be worn any which way, so the “heel” area won’t wear out so quickly - if that makes sense. 🤓

What a great episode. And as always with your wonderful mix of interesting information, humour, and the special , charming Arne-Carlos deviating from the topic ;-)
My favorite of your sock yarns are the first ones, which I now know are inspired by Munch.
And there was no end to my delight, when you showed the "scream" yarn, because I am wearing socks made from that right now ! I also made several pairs from "the Self-portrait". And two other Munchs, where I do not know the names : one which is mainly green and light blue/light grey with red, and - the one I love most - is the very colourful one with red, orange, and yellow, a little sky-blue, and stripes of the almost-white with almost-black dots . I think I have knitted 20 pairs of that, and fortunately still have more than a kg left of it.
But now I see the one with the tall pattern ( Was it called Gargia ?) , I will surely have to try that also !!!!

Hello to you both. I very much enjoy your yarns and I was fascinated to sit and watch how you get your inspiration. As a Shetlander I appreciate colours of nature, the ever-changing sky and sea, the bright gold sun hanging over patchwork fields. My favourite is Self Portrait. I just 'got it' right away and it's beautiful. Thank you for all the hard work

Love the yarns inspired by paintings. Have you thought of doing ones by van Gogh?

That was a great explanation of your process. Thank You. I have knit with the Regia sock yarn. Loved it. It's been awhile since I used it so I don't recall if it was your design or not. I hope Regia continues to use your designs. You're wonderfully creative!

I love the Regia yarns you have designed. My favorite one was the from your original group, the one you said was from the self portrait - I absolutely love those colors. I have not kept count as to how many socks I have knitted with the Regia yarn, but I have knitted many for myself and as gifts for friends. Not only are the colors beautiful, but I love the quality of the yarn. Thank you for sharing your design process.

Every pair of socks I have knitted using your sock yarns ALWAYS receive great comments when I photograph the socks additionally those I keep and wear myself. And they make great gloves (I use a solid Regia yarn for the fingers and thumb). Keep inspired and keep creating!

I love to keep them with me to pick up and knit where ever I am. I like the nature mountains and fjords, but my favorite is the self portrait colors from the painting. Maybe colors of Lofoten will be next ! Love the colors of the socks. Thank you.

Wow it is much more complicated than I imagined so thankyou both for explaining the process so well. I bought Fall Night and crocheted a scarf in Granny squares, it turned out so well, I love it, it's completely unique to me as once the Granny squares were finished I chose where, and in what order they would be joined together, so no one else could replicate this... I had so much fun making this I'm going to do another one. 👍😍 PS ... What fab weather you're having 😎🌞 best regards Christinengland

Another really interesting episode. I have finished my first pair of Pairfect socks and had to source a second ball from England (I’m on the west coast of Canada) because a friend commissioned me to make a pair for her husband! Now I am going to be on the hunt for more. I love the Munch and Fjords and Mountains!

Thank you so much for the wonderful episode. It was so interesting to learn how your process works from the first design inspiration (paintings! Costumes! Landscape! Sweaters!) to working with engineers (printing color! Back and forth to fine tune! Planning socks in so many stitch counts! Choosing perfect colors!)and fun to see yarns that I use and love. I have knit The Scream and I have just received a skein of mountains and fiords in the sunset/storm colorway. The Scream is my favorite colorway ever used - and I knit a lot of socks. I knit them during lockdown, and the wonderful orange and yellow and complex pattern were such fun and so happy and uplifting. I loved all the cheerful colors and the story behind them. I love Regia Arne and Carlos yarn!
