    I wouldn't wanna wreck the patina with a cheesy themed paint job. I'd just neutralize the rust, and clear coat it. Rattle can clear coat.

      I was thinking clearcoat it but just handpaint a logo

    If you keep breaking 1/2 inch drive breaker bars, then you need to invest in a 3/4 inch drive set. Or at least the breaker bar and whatever size impact socket you need to fit the crank pulley. Also, get a shop vac accessory tool kit. They have small nozzle tips that will fit into sparkplug holes and master cylinder openings. And remember..... just because she smokes, don't mean she's broke. 😉

    • @somewhatfast

      I need a 3/4 breaker bar for sure

    Crease the front end . Change the gear box an diff oil . Let it run an get real hot 🥵 then change the engine oil an filter . Flush some fresh oil down it after you drain it to help flush it out . 👍🏻💯🇦🇺.

    I would do a rebuild of the flathead 6, they are really great on fuel, especially in today's economy. You're already putting a gas hungry v8 into the wagon. Or you can take the engine from the wagon and put in this car! Look into a twin carb intake , if it exists, headers, dual exhaust, etc. Or just keep it stock! Must be painted, some color!

    • @somewhatfast
      @somewhatfast  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great idea, the flat head in the wagon is a 230 and the 1951 has a 218 so it would be an upgrade. Ill have to see it the 218 comes back around by itself.

    Way cool you got it running. The title scene threw me seeing a broken piston. Doesn’t even sound too bad. Maybe the rings will come around with a little snake oil and heat cycles. Those old flat 6s impress me. And so do you getting them unstuck and running!
    As far as paint/patina - see what it looks like after you clean it. If it’s decent, keep it. If you’d rather paint it, paint it. I’d probably lean more toward the stock look myself. You’ll know what to do when you get the rest of the stuff on it. I’m liking what you’re doing Nick, keep it up! 👍🏼🔥🏁🇺🇸

    I am a 73 year old man who at the time of these cars rolling on the rode daily would not be caught dead in one/lol. Spent my whole life wrenching professionally on heavy diesel equipment but loved anything engine related. Brent from Halfass Kustoms did a chopped top on one of these and it looked so good, that they all should of come that way! No nonsense know how did a revival on one and he showed the brake system in great detail. I liked most mopar stuff till they went to unibody as I just don't favor it. I can fix it but don't like it. I put a tower of power in one of these for a customer and it took a long time since their so completely different in just about every way possible.. considering these engines went to 59 and then straight to that six leaning tower of power. We did turbo it so it was extremely fast. I got readings on a dyno of over five hundred horses and torque that you can hardly believe out of them. There seems to be a revival of four door cars and old international trucks. I did subscribe, think you should just make it your own plans since money is not floating out of the sky
