It's funny how she keeps saying she liked the part she read but liked the last one more each time. I recall her saying she liked part 2 more than 3 now she liked 3 more than 4 she's one of us. The fact she liked part 1 which people hate is showcase that she will either love it or hate this series. Like how people told her hxh or one piece gets good after 100 eps or chapters...she doesnt have the tiktok brain rot yet lol.
@@y0sh_ Only in the beginning, after that is just a rehash of Stardust crusaders with them going on a trip from point A to point B. After that part ends the story jumps to Giorno being leader of the mafia. How that happened? It was only told in the novels.
If you liked the ghost girl, you'll love "thus spoke kishibe rohan" which is a side story about the paranormal adventures of Roshan Kishibhe (the manga author in part 4)
I think my favorite thing Araki added to the Jojo lore in this part is that stand users are naturally attracted to each other. It's probably my favorite plot device ever because it adds a price to having powers. The fact that stands can only be seen by other stand users, fight in the style of the personality of the user, and are destined to meet in some way means that a battle can happen anywhere, under any context, and can have any outcome while not going off tangent from the plot. It's the greatest story telling power system, IMO. It's a shame we don't get more of Josuke though since he compliments literally any character. His stand is a more direct version of Hermit Purple in that they both have a reverse engineering way of solving problems except Hermit Purple is more abstract whereas Crazy Diamond is more physical. Yet when he's faced with Kira's Stray Cat bubble bombs, he's forced to take a long range indirect approach instead. He also has Jotaro's temper, Joseph's wit, and Jonathan's heart. Hearing him apologize to Jotaro for being Joseph's son still gets me now. I can see why he's Araki's favorite Jojo.
I'm pretty sure araki is gay and this lore thing was inspired by the way gay people used to meet back in the 80's. You didn't have anyone openly gay or any apps and site to meet them but some times you'd just come across someone and feel there's something. Despite both hiding you would often end up somehow finding people who are gay if you were gay yourself. Kinda like if gay people attract gay people. There's a lot of little things like that that feels like gay whistleblows in jojo some more subtle than others
I was about to say this, lol. Both Holly and Josuke were sick when Part 3 happened and went to track down Dio, that means Joseph cheated on Suzie Q before Part 3 even started lol
I feel like wanting jojo to be flawless as she said at the end of the video (well she mentioned it's not) is what stops people from enjoying it. It's not what you go to if you want game of thrones or breaking bad levels of ploting. You go to jojo for well bizarre adventures. Ignore the silly stuff. That said people overplay how much it doesnt make sense. it usually does.
@@shrimpchris6580 Oh naw she didnt mean it like that, im more talking for people in general my bad. THose who say jojo aint shakespare and has issues and point out the goofy stuff.
Part 4 is probably my personal favorite of the jojo parts, from the creative stand battles and strange encounters, to the wacky and enjoyable cast, to the whole Kira Story line and him as a villain, and most of all, Morioh itself. Morioh FEELS like a character in of itself and I love how it seems like a “slice of life” with random encounters that all culminate an a very interesting and intriguing story.
If you do rewatch, you can catch Kira in first few episodes just walking around with other background characters, it's a well animated part! Part 5 hype, Hope you enjoy it as much as other do, Part 5 became one of the more well-known parts even from people who don't watch anime.
What really has been really great for me in JoJo are the villains. They're powerful and they are fucking smart. They don't do dumb shit and get killed. The Jojos need to earn their victories. That feels so much more satisfying. That final fight with Dio in part 3 was so good. He had the upper hand in power and he still never underestimated Jotaro. Always seeking to finish the fight. So great. Kira as well, such a smart and deadly villain. Even the Pillarmen, who were mostly honorable, still were quite vicious.
id dispute the "they dont do dumb shit and get killed" claim, almost all of them think they've won when before the battle is over (DIO toying and testing Jotaro is a great example, I, Yoshikage Kira, HAVE WON etc etc) but i know what you mean, they are all dangerously competent threats to the protags and every time they end up losing is because of themselves and their evil choices. DIO's ego is what made him rise to power in the first place, but that same ego blinded him from the true threat of the joestars until it was far too late.
that's one of the main reasons i love part 7 so much, without getting into spoiler territory, the villain there is SO GOOD, and especially the final arcs with him go so unbelievably hard it's unreal
Oi, Josuke! Definitely, quite possibly, my favorite animated part, given the cast and the setting. It is so antithetical to what the series was to this point, and yet it ends up tying together in a satisfying way.
Rohan is my favorite obvious self insert of the author in all of fiction. I hope you watch thus spoke Kishibe Rohan at some point and read the rest that wasn't animated
Remember when Josuke explained why he hates when people insult his hair? How he got a fever that lasted 50 days and almost killed him? This was Part 3, he was sick like Holly because he's also a Joestar. Josuke was four at the time, meaning he was conceived and born four years before Part 3.
Now that you've finished part 4, you can now safely track down and read all the jojo spinoffs (Dead Man's Question, Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan) with no fears of spoilers. They're both fun ways that Araki has expanded the lore of jojo over the years, but I won't go further into them to avoid spoilers. Also note with the Kishibe Rohan spinoff, the chapter numbers are intentionally not the actual chapter they came out, some were left out on purpose. Its especially weird if you want to read in publication order, because it starts with Episode 16, then 2, then "Rohan at the Louvre", 5, 6, 4, and only then do we start seeing things in order (from 7 - 11, where it currently has stopped). Some of them have been adapted to the anime on Netflix as well. As for my personal rankings after reading everything? 1. Part 2 + 7. I honestly couldn't pick between the 2. I have 2 because its got my favourite Jojo, and you may disagree with me but the pillar men were peak. Dio was great, but what about 3 almost Dios? I'll avoid Part 7 talk because of spoilers, but the pacing, storytelling, and shenanigans they get up to in Part 2 and 7 far exceed the other parts (for met at least). 2. Part 4. Its got my favourite Jobro (Okuyasu), and my favourite 1-shot episode (Lets Go Eat Italian food). And the much smaller scale helps a lot with the storytelling, we aren't worried about the fate of the world, its just a serial killer who intends to keep his identity a secret while continuing to kill (which if he kills monthly and lives to 89 would still be like 700 people, but significantly less than if Kars or DIO were allowed to walk free). 3. Part 6. While it didn't suck me in like the other parts, there was a clear turning point about half way through that quickly pushed part 6 up the list for me. That second half the story was great, culminating in the best possible ending for the original universe (part 7-9 takes place in an alternate universe where things happen differently, such as stands manifesting in the 1800's) 4. Part 1. Like you mentioned in your part 1 review, Part 1 was a very strong part. Jonathan is who we should all aspire to be, and Dio was a far bigger focus in this part unlike later on where he's a strong finish, but hides until then. And its also a nice quick watch - at 9 episodes, you can get through it in an afternoon, so it doesn't overstay its welcome (like certain other parts) 5. Part 5. There are definitely moments in part 5 that I enjoy, but overall there wasn't any extreme standouts for me that the other parts had. That said, I'd still consider it better than like 90% of the anime I've consumed over the years. 6. Controversial, but I'm putting part 3 here. I didn't mind it the first time, but going back for a rewatch it is a huge drag. So many of the villains have just way too long a focus on them, when we could be getting to the Darby Brothers, Vanilla Ice, and DIO sooner. And the anime pacing doesn't help. Stardust crusaders is 48 episodes, but its manga was 152 chapters. In comparison, Diamond is Unbreakable was 39 episodes, and its manga was 174 chapters. They fit 15% more manga into 20% less anime and it felt like nothing was skipped. As for part 8 and 9? I read part 8 monthly, so to be honest I think I'm in for a reread. Part 9 is too early for an opinion on it.
Part 4 is my favorite part. The setting of Morioh is perfect, it's such a strange, mysterious, yet also weirdly cozy town. I love the vibe, the secrets, the sense of anything being possible in this small rural town. Kira is also a great villain who brings so much tension and suspense. I love that this part doesn't just follow one linear plot but instead focuses on different groups of characters at different times. Having episodes that were just about Kira, Hayato and Shinobu, others that pair Koichi with Jotaro, or rohan with Koichi, etc... was so cool. I hope you enjoy parts 5 and 6. Both of these parts are quite popular in the JoJo fandom these days even though they didn't use to be as beloved. Personally I wasn't a huge fan of either one but they both still have some cool things (part 5 has a really strong supporting cast, and part 6 has a really cool JoJo). The adventure only gets more bizarre from now on, lol.
lol I saw that edit in real time...how bizarre, is this the work of an enemy stand!? I had sent my friend the short of your part 4 first impressions and figured you would really enjoy this arc of JoJos, it's very different but still very JoJo. One of my favorite moments: A stand user in the hospital hunting people to heal himself, gets tracked by Josuke who heals him...proceeds to beat him up so he's still in the hospital, it's so good. Then he shows up again later!
An elementary school kid found out that his dad is murdered and is niw skinwalked by an extremely dangerous serial killer. Hayato is not a Stand user, and doesnt know they even exists, so he doesnt know the mechanics of how they work, and is so much harder for him to figure out compared to out Stand user protagonists. He is up against one of *the* most powerful and broken Stand in the entire series. And pulled it off. Hayato is such a baller.
Kira is one of my favorite villains of all time...at least partially because I find him super relatable. Not the murdering women and getting off with their hands thing obviously, but just the desire for routine normalcy and appreciating the simpleness of his own life (sans hand stealing).
10:35 Well, you can stop feeling that way, then. Joseph didn't cheat on Suzie "while he was off trying to save Holly's life". He cheated on Suzie *4 YEARS BEFORE* Holly's life was even in danger. It's very different. 😁
This is a fantastic review! Part 4 is my personal favorite because the relationship between Josuke & Okuyasu reminds me of my own relationship with my friend. Kira is a fantastic change from the villains we have seen in Jojo! Also Araki did such a great job at writing the mystery behind how his stand works & making me wonder how he would be defeated during Bites the Dust. Also another really awesome opening animation change when we learn about Bites the Dust and I really love that Morioh is it's own character.
One little detail I love in Part 4 is how Jotaro takes Josuke to teach him how to shoot things with his stand saying that it'll come in handy then during the final fight with Kira, Josuke being able to aim with his stand was a crucial factor.
Part 4 is the only part that went from least favourite to most favourite after I rewatched it. I accepted the subtleness and easy nature of this world. It was hard for me to change my stance after the bombastic adventure that Part 2&3 was.
Part 4 is my absolute favorite so far! I loved how we get such unique stands and that some aren't even for fighting, makes the power system a lot more interesting. All the characters were super fun and the town feels like a real place with all the landmarks and people we've seen and met. Plus it's got my fav Jojo Jotaro in it as a mentor which fits his character really well. I totally also love the fight between Jotaro, Koichi, and Kira, especially when Koichi calls out Kira's name and declares that Kira will get caught even if he dies because a kid like him found out, he really won the mental battle there. Super excited to see your thoughts on the other parts, while I didn't love them as much as Part 4 personally they are really good! I will definitely leave a comment about what happened when my brother and I watched the ending of Part 6 because it coincided with the show way too well but it's kind of a spoiler so I'll wait.
Jojos has such a unique vibe while making so many changes and evolutions to its style. It’s such an interesting way to see an artist grow and evolve over time.
amazing review i hope you continue this series all the way till the ongoing part 9 as someone from where it takes place it holds a special place in my heart :D
One note: Joseph cheated on Suzi Q YEARS before the journey to Egypt as Josuke was shown getting affected by Dio's curse (which means that he already was a kid during Stardust Crusaders). The Joseph that cheated on Suzi was the one that was frustrated about barely seeing his daughter and grandson, not the one in Stardust Crusaders that was experiencing one of the highlights of his life and growing close to his grandson. It's a really important distinction for his character and the context of the affair.
I will say the author comes up with some fascinating/disgusting/diabolical villains. my rankings: (Don't get me wrong I enjoyed them all) Part 3 Part 1 part 4 part 2
Great video, love watching you experience these stories for the first time! Hot take on Ranking 1- Part 5 2- Part 6 3- Part 3 4- Part 4 5- Part 1 6- Part 2 Haven’t read the rest of them.
I'm curious if you intend to continue with the manga after you catch up to the anime? Cause I have to say, I think Part 7 has potential to be your favorite part, but it isn't animated yet and it may be several years before it is
I love how Joseph’s story comes full circle. We are introduced to Joseph with someone stealing his wallet, and the last thing we see of him is Josuke stealing his wallet.
there's also an entire throughline of this part: Joseph discovers unknown child. Joseph tries to solve problem with money. Josuke refuses money. Joseph comes to Morioh. Joseph finds invisible child. Joseph tries to solve problem with money. Josuke is unimpressed. Joseph tries solving problem through self-sacrifice. Josuke is impressed. Josuke steals Joseph's wallet (in the end accepting Joseph's money).
Weird/interesting fact:Yukako is one of the first “yandere” characters in manga history (basically a girl that obsesses with a male character to the point where it becomes abusive or dangerous), the trope wasn’t even a thing yet when the manga was written
Josuke's name roughly means "Support", and on top of that his stand ability is very much a support ability. The main character of part 4 is the morioh town, and Josuke is very deliberately a support protagonist, and that works for me.
I seriously love how Kira never wants to fight and is forced to. It makes him feel so different. I love how he's both really human and really intimidating when he needs to. Strange combination but he really pulls off both sides perfectly. Oooh when he's fighting Josuke and Okuyasu wakes up, and Jotaro Koichi and Rohan get there too, his desesperate look, like a child who broke something and his parents are coming home. It just feels so real. I love it
Very much agreed on loving all the parts for different reasons. Part 4 is probably favorite overall, Joseph in part 2 might be my favorite Jojo, but Part 6's Jolyne is up there too. Part 5 might be the weakest for me, but I still love it and much of the crew. There's not a flop in the whole series and I'm excited to see you experience it. Got me to rewatch the show and I'm on Part 5 now.
I like how you talked about the interwoven nature of Part 4. In my opinion, every episode is necessary to understand Part 4, with one exception: Let's Go Eat Italian Food. But that episode is so good that I would never tell anyone to skip it. (It's also the first Stand "battle" of the part that isn't "this person is out to get us," which is a core theme of community that Part 4 develops more.)
An interesting point about how JJBA changes genre with each part actually helps with anime and live action series recommendations for friends. For example, if part 4 is a person's favorite, then the episodic+overarching plot combo also happens in series like Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (drama, cyberpunk), Card Captor Sakura (shoujo, magical girl), and even Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If nothing else, it's a great way to help figure out what to potentially look into.
The anime was so set on emphasizing this small town. I love that there are scenes where you can see unintroduced characters in the background just living life. When Kira escapes, you're also able to see the next few stand users the show introduces in that square alongside Kira's new identity. Details like this solidify Diamond is Unbreakable as my favourite Jojo's part.
Every time I find a new JoJo video from you it feels like a happy jumpscare lol. Congrats on finishing Part 4! I'm happy you liked it! Some fun facts about the creation of Part 4: The concept of Part 4 came from an unused idea for a Stand battle in Part 3. Araki liked the idea of a little town the Crusaders stayed in, in which you wouldn't know who the Stand user is, but he felt like the Crusaders staying in a single place for so long wouldn't make much sense. So for Part 4 he made the whole location a town, a town inspired by his own hometown in Sendai by the way. Also Kira's creation is interesting. Araki was struggling on how to make a big bad. He didn't want to fall in the classic Shonen problem of the next villain being always stronger, as he felt that he couldn't just make something like that after the battle with Dio that was the conclusion of three whole Parts, so after putting some thought to it he created Kira, and thus we went from a 100 year old vampire who wants to rule the world to a killer in a small town who has a Stand that's physically weaker than the main group. Probably one of the most important marks in his career of discovering he can do anything
I have a feeling (at least for the anime adapted parts) that Part 3 will still be your favorite by the end but based on that love for the chaotic, over the top, band of brothers, journey format, I think Part 5 is going to be a fun time for you! I’m looking forward to that! Part 4 will always be my favorite JoJo part. The mystery element and unnerving realness to Kira combined with this small town setting in a world where stand users are innately pulled to each other make for the perfect unraveling of plot to me. JoJo’s was my first anime and Part 3 got my attention/fascination, but Part 4 got me hooked. Anyway! Have fun with the rest of the journey! See you in Italy! 👋
DIO and Kira prob my two favorite jojo villains. I didn’t think they could keep up the momentum after DIO but then they introduce such a great villain with Kira
After you finish with the anime, you’d probably enjoy reading Araki’s “Manga in Theory and Practice,” where he talks about his writing style and how he crafts plots, characters, etc.
Morio itself is the MC of part 4 in my eyes. Kira is most antagonistic to its livelihood after all. To me its obvious because everything circles back to the town. That aside, assuming I am wrong I feel part 4 is Araki at his most free. Its exactly what it is and that is to unique to be easily labeled.
Love Merphy's character arc post becoming a one piece person. Pre-One Piece, as well as early one piece, she had said 'I'm not really into the absurd in fantasy' or something to that effect. Fast forward to her, now a Jojo's person, saying that the last fight could've been 'stranger and more over the top'.
@@nes-fl7mz I paraphrased poorly. Upon looking into it I misremembered her in her first one piece review. She mentions how childish whimsical silly and fun elements are not what she usually goes for. She also states in that video how she struggled to suspend her disbelief for some of those aspects in One Piece. Which I still think covers what I meant by my first comment. Cause even relative to One Piece Jojo's is rather well, bizarre.
Will you start reading the manga after part 6, because parts 7, 8, and currently being published 9 haven’t been animated and there is no sign of that happening anytime soon?

Time to be GANGSTARS!
Only if you read the novels.

If you liked the ghost girl, you'll love "thus spoke kishibe rohan" which is a side story about the paranormal adventures of Roshan Kishibhe (the manga author in part 4)
Second this, the animated series covers 4 stories from the manga but the manga has more. I'd highly recommend.
@@karissailormoonive seen tskr, I want to read more in manga, which colume
True
I'm pretty sure araki is gay and this lore thing was inspired by the way gay people used to meet back in the 80's. You didn't have anyone openly gay or any apps and site to meet them but some times you'd just come across someone and feel there's something. Despite both hiding you would often end up somehow finding people who are gay if you were gay yourself. Kinda like if gay people attract gay people.
There's a lot of little things like that that feels like gay whistleblows in jojo some more subtle than others
Love that his longe range shot training hunting the rat came back around
It's one of my favorite lore aspects in the series. Specially how much it ties into later stuff
Gaydar
10:35 He didn't cheat while trying to save Holly. Josuke was born 4 years before part 3 which is a full year before Dio resurfaced.
I was about to say this, lol. Both Holly and Josuke were sick when Part 3 happened and went to track down Dio, that means Joseph cheated on Suzie Q before Part 3 even started lol
I’m not sure if that’s better, but I appreciate the correction.
@@ChromaticEagle it’s still bad, but I’d say it’s slightly better. Cheating is terrible. Cheating while your daughter is sick and dying is worse

@@nichescenes Why would you think what they said is a flaw though

I mean, let's be fair, Kira is one hell of a dumbfuck. Imagine yelling your name out loud on the street while you're supposedly in hiding
id dispute the "they dont do dumb shit and get killed" claim, almost all of them think they've won when before the battle is over (DIO toying and testing Jotaro is a great example, I, Yoshikage Kira, HAVE WON etc etc) but i know what you mean, they are all dangerously competent threats to the protags and every time they end up losing is because of themselves and their evil choices. DIO's ego is what made him rise to power in the first place, but that same ego blinded him from the true threat of the joestars until it was far too late.
@@RookieREX At least that's more of a character flaw than just the author making the villain incompetent without realizing.
@@LightningRaven42 yes jojo IS great for that, if they die, its always in character and satisfying
that's one of the main reasons i love part 7 so much, without getting into spoiler territory, the villain there is SO GOOD, and especially the final arcs with him go so unbelievably hard it's unreal
Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan is godly
Josuke is my favorite JoJo, he feels like a bro along with Okuyasu I like their friendship.
The sniper rat is something my mind still goes back to from time to time
Mori mori mori mori oh cho radioooooooo ~we’re live~
That second half the story was great, culminating in the best possible ending for the original universe (part 7-9 takes place in an alternate universe where things happen differently, such as stands manifesting in the 1800's)
4. Part 1. Like you mentioned in your part 1 review, Part 1 was a very strong part. Jonathan is who we should all aspire to be, and Dio was a far bigger focus in this part unlike later on where he's a strong finish, but hides until then. And its also a nice quick watch - at 9 episodes, you can get through it in an afternoon, so it doesn't overstay its welcome (like certain other parts)
I can tell you this, Araki hasnt even pushed the boundaries of stands just yet. it just gets more wild lmao
Kira is one of my favorite villains of all time...at least partially because I find him super relatable. Not the murdering women and getting off with their hands thing obviously, but just the desire for routine normalcy and appreciating the simpleness of his own life (sans hand stealing).
why so defensive about the serial killer bits. sus.
Riiiight, that's what they all say

I need to hear what you thought about the openings? Or specifically the opening change when Kira got his new power?
Merphy actually watched that episode with Jay D. Legend, the VOD might still be up on his Twitch if you check.

I'm with you Merph, I love them all and can't pick a favorite.
It's part 4

Part 4 is the only part that went from least favourite to most favourite after I rewatched it.
I accepted the subtleness and easy nature of this world.
It was hard for me to change my stance after the bombastic adventure that Part 2&3 was.
DIU was really good honestly. One of my favorite parts, and I've recently been rewatching episodes of it (and SDC and SO lately.)
4>2>1>3. Nothing happens for large sections of 3. We all remember the beginning, end, and some parts closer to the end.

I love how Joseph’s story comes full circle. We are introduced to Joseph with someone stealing his wallet, and the last thing we see of him is Josuke stealing his wallet.
there's also an entire throughline of this part:
Joseph discovers unknown child.
Joseph tries to solve problem with money.
Josuke refuses money.
Joseph comes to Morioh.
Joseph finds invisible child.

Weird/interesting fact:Yukako is one of the first “yandere” characters in manga history (basically a girl that obsesses with a male character to the point where it becomes abusive or dangerous), the trope wasn’t even a thing yet when the manga was written
I'm REALLY excited for her part 5 journey:3
You should pick up Dead Man's Question. It's a story of Yoshikage Kira after his death and all
Josuke's name roughly means "Support", and on top of that his stand ability is very much a support ability.
I love it
Part 4 is "What if Scooby Doo, but Jojo ?"
Great video. Excited for the Part 5 review.
I cant wait for her to read part 7 steel ball run
Getting Dio vibes with that outfit
Seriously though shout out to “I Want You” by Savage Garden.
Next, Bruno's Bizarre Adventure.
GOAT (animated) part review, let’s goooo!
Every time I find a new JoJo video from you it feels like a happy jumpscare lol.
Congrats on finishing Part 4! I'm happy you liked it!
Some fun facts about the creation of Part 4:
The concept of Part 4 came from an unused idea for a Stand battle in Part 3.
Amazing video merphy! lookin forward to your part 5 reaction. fun fact oda began one piece about halfway through the run of jojo part 5!
Im so delighted that you enjoy the series so much.
I can't wait for the part 5 video. My favorite anime part, until part 7 comes out >:)
DIO and Kira prob my two favorite jojo villains. I didn’t think they could keep up the momentum after DIO but then they introduce such a great villain with Kira
Cannot wait till you review part 5, 6, 7...people are still buzzing about them.
After you finish with the anime, you’d probably enjoy reading Araki’s “Manga in Theory and Practice,” where he talks about his writing style and how he crafts plots, characters, etc.
i dont know why i absolutely loved it ,it was weird yet beautiful and somehow poetic
Part 4 used to be my fav part until i reas part 8 then part 9 is quickly becoming my fav but part 4 will always be special in my heart
Remember when Murphy said she didn't like absurdist humor? I remember. Lol So glad you are enjoying Jojo's.

Part 4 was heavily inspired by Twin Peaks and it shows
Morio itself is the MC of part 4 in my eyes. Kira is most antagonistic to its livelihood after all.
To me its obvious because everything circles back to the town.
That aside, assuming I am wrong I feel part 4 is Araki at his most free. Its exactly what it is and that is to unique to be easily labeled.
BREAKDOWN BREAKDOWN!!
BREAKDOWN BREAKDOWN!!
See you on part 5 Merphy!!
Love Merphy's character arc post becoming a one piece person. Pre-One Piece, as well as early one piece, she had said 'I'm not really into the absurd in fantasy' or something to that effect. Fast forward to her, now a Jojo's person, saying that the last fight could've been 'stranger and more over the top'.
woah really? in what videos she says that?
