      @adm boos ahh I mean, most martial artist masters have experiences of tournaments, and in order to study they record those. and penkak is a famous martial art, so if you really wanna find, try finding personal emails or so. Internet is awesome.

    Don’t get fooled , this guy will take you out in seconds.
    People who say his opponent just stands still and doesn’t fight back are ignorant of his skills.
    This man is just showing all of the possibilities to take someone out .
    My teacher did the same thing,he was teaching his students,but when he was sparing with someone it only took a few seconds and you were lying on the floor wondering what happend.
    Looking at the video ,this teacher looks highly skillful ,a master at his craft.
    Can he defeat mma fighters? If he sets his mind to it he probably could.

    Beautiful, but I would love to see more live action application with less compliant targets so we can see how these drills help in real combat. So amazing to watch this guy though.

    • @fiftyfadesofgrey
      @fiftyfadesofgrey 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michael Trimble you’re right. Things change dramatically when you have live sparring and a resisting opponent. That’s why all the martial arts which work have Live sparring such as Thai boxing,Bjj,wrestling,boxing etc.

      you will never see it in the situation that it is intended to be used in (self defense). so of course it's going to have to be applied theoretically. but this guy was a boxing and sanda champ so he knows the difference between sport and self defense fighting technique

      @@fiftyfadesofgrey those aren't true 'martial' systems (meaning for war). those are all sports. again, he knows sport fighting -- in fact, he was quite good at it.

    I read all these comments, not just here but over years in general and almost always end up shaking my head. It's not your fault - Hollywood is to blame. I'm 61 years old and have been training since I was 14. I've worked in the security industry for over 35 years, door work for 5 years and now work as a BG to A list celebs. I learnt more in the 5 years in clubs than any class. (REAL WORLD). Two things most people get wrong is, "self-defence" and "fighting." They are two different things, it's not the art or system, it's the person using it. Anyone can always come up with a, "what if." Or a "yeah but." In my humble opinion, Self - defence is; The first 5 to 8 seconds of any situ that gets physical. You must defend yourself from harm, within this time. If you haven't done that, now you're in a "fight." People watch Kung Fu movies and subconsciously try to translate what they see to the real world. Why do you think all these "Kung Fu masters," are getting beat up nowadays? In my experience, you have 5 to 8 seconds to "defend," yourself. You learn almost any of the technics in this vid or any system and "really" know them and you stand a chance. But it's up to you to make it work. Learning to fight, is a totally different thing again. That's not what they're trying to teach you. In my opinion. Stay safe people.

      I agree you should alway pressure test all your stuff. Now, how long can you do MMA. Can you do it when you are when your 50 how about when you are 70? Can MMA work against multiple people? I have NEVER seen a fair fight. What about a knife ? How about a gun? There are many then that can say. Not everyone wants to be a MMA champion. I have seen MMA figures get there butt kick out in the street. So, you have to have a understanding about all your ranges of fighting brother. Dont be quick to judge or underestimate any style of combat.

    What most people fail to understand or have never experienced is that first strike by the defender. These guys like all good martial artists that first slap is quite disabling and in the right spot will render most people, unconscious so no real need for all the follow-up stuff. In most cases an attacker would be in so much pain it would slow what they are doing to a snail's pace. I have been involved in Chinese martial arts for over 50 years and have never met anyone who could continue after the first strike by an experienced Kung Fu practitioner esp when jing is invloved. Now I know nothing much happened in this video but bear in mind nobody was being hit for real

    hi my friend from indonesia, if you want to see PENCAK SILAT in the real world and there are no video settings or additional animations, get the "Chintya Candranaya" channel, she's a woman who has Silat Science and has internal power, but she doesn't need energy knowledge because, the science of inner power if one uses it in life, he will not be able to die properly in his old age, even if it takes a long process so he can find his end. While he has a teacher who has knowledge in, even if he becomes an MMA fighter, his teacher might not be defeated, but usually we in Indonesia often say ABOVE EARTH STILL IS SKY, so even if there is knowledge there are other people who have higher knowledge. in Indonesia there are many teachers who have martial arts because the beginning of silat is taught in the Work of Kutai Kartanegara before extending to remote areas of Indonesia and Malaysia. and was popularized after WW2. SILAT is the basic foundation of all universities in Asia, such as Karate, Takewondo, Taichi and many more, because Kutai Kartanegara was discussing martial arts before the Christian Era 400 years before becoming the Largest Asian region. during the Portuguese and Spanish colonial trade era, some of the pencak silat professors were brought to various countries in Asia, namely creating a new genre, namely Karate, Wing Chun, and many more, most of whom introduced martial arts techniques in China, which became numerous a new generation of leading stream. Because Kutai Kartanegara is the largest propagator of martial arts and Hinduism in Asia. Yup, the silat originated from traditional dances and developed into martial arts, and when it expanded in Asia, the brush became too weak dance, or became a martial arts foundation that was not hard enough or strong enough, all Asian dances were developed into the latest silat by the prominent scattered martial arts. for example Karate, and ordinary martial arts, if normal martial arts he must lower his body lower, but karate must be hard and lunging upwards. the basic karate science comes from silat, all any technique in martial arts, comes from silat, as well as others.

    Those guys critizising have you ever seen a technique working in real life without modification, feeling for timing and intuition. You need to pratice a million times before you can apply it. But it has a lot of very beautiful principles you can recognize if you have a little experience. Otherwise I guess you need a gun and maintain proper distance. Even though I am a great fan of silat and practice the techniques I hope I never need to apply them in real life.
