Our grandparents live longer lives and in better shape then most people today and they cooked in lard or something unhealthy by today standards . But today almost everyone cooks in vegetable oil or some other mass-produced oil and we are living shorter lives and in worst shape then our past ancestors . So my question is if all of this healthier oil and food is so good for us why Is this not the opposite why are we not living longer and in better shape?
Not even to mention all of the salt they consumed. So who thanks the same?

As a whole we are not as physically active as generations prior. They walked to the store, to school, worked farms, grew gardens, went for walks after dinner with the kids, cooked from scratch, swept their carpeted floors instead of vacuuming, beat their throw rugs, washed clothes and rung by hand, got down on all fours and scrubbed baseboards...I could go on and on lol Plus their dish sizes and food portions were much smaller

How to turn a heritage place into a tourist trap. And by the way, have the cookbook, and it is terrible. I mean, bad. I gave it away. The pictures in it were good, though.

I have it & I totally disagree. That meatloaf recipe is the bomb!

@@msdeltalady To each their own. It was the worst cookbook I've ever had!! The pictures in it were fun. It is too bad they did not leave this place like it was with it's history intact. As for meatloaf, the best one I've ever had was in the red checked Betty Crocker cookbook. :)
