    What makes this song special is how little the guitar line and vocal line overlap in the chorus, but instead join perfectly. If you'd never heard the song before, you'd never guess what the chorus vocals sound like from the guitar track. But if you'd only heard the vocal track, you'd never guess the guitar line.

      I think it’s possible that this whole song is actually his Jaguar. The intro is definitely a Jaguar, but the rest has the bright percussive snap and short sustain of a Jaguar too. Strats can sound similar, but not quite the same. Also, if this whole song really was the Jaguar, there’s a chance the amp you’re hearing was John’s cheap little Fender H.O.T. practice amp, which he used in other places on BSSM too.

      PrecursorLegend Alright man, I gotta ask what your opinion is. Notice at around 0:09, when he does that hammer on, pull off on the B? Then hits the A, 2nd fret on G? It definitely sounds like more than just 3 notes, it sounds like he’s plucking the B after already having hammer on’d to it, if that makes sense. Have you noticed this?

    the things he does on this track to make it so legendary are very interesting . i am currently learning to play this song and i have a few notes for people who also want to learn. this song has a lot of repeating parts but only one of them is ever repeated completely the one that starts with an F#m chord on fret 9 ,also in the best part (the verse) there is a part that is played once *full* and from then on it is played using only some of its parts. and lastly he plays the song in a very calm way he and chords feel soft the tone on the guitar is amazing but no matter just how expensive it was to produce it still needs a good player to use it well. play chords softly but make muted notes louder and chords at the end of phrases are left to ring out and you can tell.

    • @shakedcohen6682
      @shakedcohen6682 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      one thing i forgot the cool effect near the end of the song is very interesting he plays the open e string in a chord with fret 5 on the b string , it is the exact same note so that makes a really cool sound and can be done on the other string to less interesting results. this is the only use of this in popular songs i have ever heard and it is use very well here.

    One is playing the main chords with a chorus and then a distorted guitar following the bass line. A third guitar might be emphasizing that one part of the lick at the end of every measure or it might have just been made to be louder at that part during the mixdown, I can't tell.

      I've spent a ton of time analyzing and trying to duplicate the tones of this track, and I'm pretty sure the majority of what you hear is a single guitar, which is split to two different amps in stereo. John himself said he split his signal to two amps with a chorus pedal (either a Boss CE1 or it's rumored it also could have been a DOD stereo chorus). Personally I'm leaning towards the CE1 on this track, because when you use it in stereo one of the channels is modulated and one is not, making it sound just like you hear in this recording. The two amps have very different tones -- one is warmer and bassier, the other brighter, so it sounds like two guitars depending on which notes are being played. Lastly, the high ringing notes in the intro and the bright chords panned slightly to the right just before each chorus are definitely overdubs, and of course the more distorted parts in the outro are also overdubs.

      Jon Loane You're both right. The tracks are indeed the masters, and yes they came from those games. I can't imagine how much it must've cost for them to acquire & license all the individual tracks for those games, which in some cases probably hadn't been touched in years... or decades.

    A beginner player thinks the intro is the be all end all if I can learn this I can learn anything….20 years experience says the actual magic of this song is everything after the intro it’s not incredibly complex but it’s just near I,possible to master it. It’s not all that hard to play technically but there’s an organic on the spot feeling to it…you might nail every note and get the tone just right but it just always feeling like it’s lacking something intangible
