when he played it live he used a moog mf-101 which is both a low pass filter (passes signal with low frequency lower than a certain cutoff frequency and attenuates high frequencies with the same cutoff frequency) and an envelope follower, he also used the moog cp-251, he connected the moog cp-251 triangle wave LFO output to the moog mf-101 cutoff input to modulate the filter cutoff frequency with the LFO. if you want to buy both pedals it'll run you about $600 dollars new. if you don't want to spend that much money you can just use a line 6 fm4 in the throbber setting and it just sounds fine, josh klinghoffer uses it too
Why is everyone saying that his clean tone is a little bit dirt and the break between clean and dirt?? That's not true....there is no such "dirt breaking" in his sound...just a simple clean with some gain ....not the dirt channel!

It is actually the dirty channel with low gain, the biggest proof of that is the fact a WH10 wah doesn’t work well in the clean channel
