Many thanks for this song. This song got me thru a hard time when I tried to move down south (Douglas, AZ). I had purchased some land (Desert) and had a dream to make it my new home. Things didn't go as planned at all when it came to the land. Was jerked around by the seller and never got the deed until it was too late. Living on a low income when my van's engine hit death's door I was stranded and everything I owned right down to my mother's ashes was lost forever. I sold the van for $75 in El Paso, Texas (that was as far as I could get it from Douglas, AZ losing coolant from every possible location on that engine). Already feeling broken having to limp back to the North East I then had to pawn off everything in my life I owned to get a hotel room and a bus ticket back to a state I just ain't happy living in. That was just the beginning. While at one of the bus terminals getting some coffee and waffles from IHOP (to go) in Texarkana, Arkansas the bus left just as I was walking back (just across the street). Whelp, that was that just lost my 4 bags of what I had left in this life which included my mothers ashes. So, I sat on the bench outside of IHOP ate my food drank my coffee thinking how when it rains it pours. Greyhound was no help even though several bags had a undercarriage label they still lost them and to this day, nothing. I wandered the streets listening to this song (there were other songs but non touched me like this one had). I lost track of time/days luckily by that time I had some funds on my debit card to get another two nights in a hotel, different ones as I would walk all day in a daze over what I just lost (when I say everything I mean everything like photos of my daughter's birth (other important papers/documents) on thru life and every other keepsake I had thru life, gone). Well, by the third day I was out of thyroid and diabetic meds and even more dazed, thank God I'm a sober man. At that point I was a bit upset at myself and I got it into my head I would just walk/hitch hike back. Yea, that didn't go over to well ended up having some serious foot pains do to walking miles in cheap Walmart sandals. So, I ended up in the hospital tired in pain and slightly dehydrated. Fell asleep and was waken up and asked to sign some paperwork. I'm still half asleep at this time thinking it's just normal discharge paper work. Oh, nope they must of thought I was loopy (comedy, being funny is how I deal with stress) do to my odd/silly behavior they transferred me to a mental health care facility, now I was pissed. In a no win situation even though I started to leave walking down the road I thought, my medical will cover this and I needed the food and rest so I can figure out how to get back NE. One might think that this song would bring back bad memories but just the opposite. While doing all of that walking I was also enjoying the southern sites and talking to some folks here and there. I have not given up on moving south, I'm done with the Northern uptight not so friendly attitudes. For now I deal with living in low income housing saving up for a vehicle and next time I'll use the internet to setup apartment ahead of time. Foolish of me to think I would live the vanlife for awhile. It's just after my mother's death (brain cancer) I was a bit lost and very unhappy. I took care of here thru it all with little or no help from other family except for my father (They were divorced), for a 80year old man he did his best as well. Losing a loved one is bad enough but to have memories of the lack of care/neglect from a certain healthcare facility in Dunmore, Pa and then the officials refused to do a proper investigation (couldn't use my photos as evidence they said) was the last straw and I just needed to get away. I Love you Mom, think about you every day. Thanks Josh Porter for this song and thank you God for all you do even if I fail to see it at the time.
Thanks for sharing your story and the kind words about this song. I often am overwhelmed by the kind words of listeners like you. Best of luck friend, take care
Wow 3 yrs ago i commented already, still love it, please never stop josh i know you're probably not as big as you'd like to be but damnit you should be this is a classic to me you rock man! I've lost a few but i always find a way to win!
Hitting down this lonesome road With nothing but a suitcase and a dream Seems like wherever I go, everybody wants a piece of me Been so long since I've been gone Another night, another town I ran out of energy long time ago But there's no slowing down It's not easy being me.. Is it a blessing? Or is it a disease? So sad, but yet so happy Yeah that's me You know that's me Fell off the mountain But I've climbed my way back up again Once you've been on top There's nowhere else to go, my friend They keep knocking me down But I always get back up again I've lost a few but I always find my way to win And it's not easy being me.. Is it a blessing or is it a disease? So sad, but so happy Yeah that's me You know that's me [Heard it and wrote it, feel free to correct]

Incredible sound and lyrics.
Hello how are you doing today
Hitting down this lonesome road
With nothing but a suitcase and a dream
Seems like wherever I go, everybody wants a piece of me
Been so long since I've been gone
Another night, another town
I ran out of energy long time ago
But there's no slowing down
It's not easy being me..
Is it a blessing? Or is it a disease?
So sad, but yet so happy
Yeah that's me
You know that's me
Fell off the mountain
But I've climbed my way back up again
Once you've been on top
There's nowhere else to go, my friend
They keep knocking me down
But I always get back up again
I've lost a few but I always find my way to win
And it's not easy being me..
Is it a blessing or is it a disease?
So sad, but so happy
Yeah that's me
You know that's me
