Hi guys. The SKX171 dial is not available from any official dealer as it is sold by those who happened to have some OEM parts while the watch was in production. I do not know of a reliable resource to locate the dial. Its usually from forums or eBay.
Man, you did an amazing job on these Seiko's! You fixed everything we always have complained about. These modified SKX models are so much better and more beautiful.
I love the mod options on the Seiko Prospex line. So much fun reasonably priced, and over and again you can continue even swapping current mod parts with previous mod parts. It's like having a new watch all the time!!!! AWESOME!!!
Both look great 👌 People used to mod the SKX171 just by popping on a 007 bezel. It is the classic Seiko mod that came before much of the modding we see today. Nice.
On the blue one I like the Sumo hands. I had 2 of the early Sumos and those were some of my favorites. And I think I like the rectangular hour marks a little better. Years ago I has an SKX173 with its rectangular markers and at that time I thought I liked the round markers better.
The crown does screw down, I just left it undone for ease of demonstrating the watch for the video! You can check out my other modification videos to see the crown screw down.
Great video! Just got my SKX009 and I put a Strapcode Super Jubilee bracelet on it. Loving it! Might contact you soon about modding a 007 that I will buy.
I just did a Skx 013 Tudor snowflake mod ( pics and vid on my channel ). Just curios. The dial is almost too sterile now without a Seiko logo . Do you think maybe I could remove an applied Seiko logo from another dial and apply it to my new dial? I thinking maybe glue it on with crafters cement ? Thanks .
Where I live there are 5 jeweler's that have watch makers in their store full time. I asked about having a watch modded and they couldn't do it. Seems like they only replace batteries and exchange watch straps. I don't know how they make any money. Where can someone like me get someone to modify one of my watches?
In new to watches, can someone explain to me the hype of your watch “hacking” why do you want your seconds hand to stop moving ? Wouldn’t that throw it off
Allows a group of people to synchronise watches with greater shared precision. Used to be common among military, engineering, & others. Less of a necessity now that we are all surrounded by network time. Having hacking seconds was (& still is) considered an indicator of movement quality.
The blue is........... ............perfect !!!!! She looks like old Seiko divers for the 80'. The ceramic bezel and sapphir glass make these Seiko's more luxury. Bye.
Beautiful work! But it makes me wonder... In the second example, if I am not mistaken, you have practically swapped our every single part in the watch, excluding the case. The result is stunning, but to me it feels off to gut a perfectly good timepiece like that... Almost like a Frankenwatch... You see what I mean? Would love to hear your thoughts about this. Cheers!
Practically yes, the case and the crystal were the only components left over but, most of the components are all original seiko parts, it still has some of that seiko character. The thing with modifying is the watches are personalized in my opinion. For me, a Frankenwatch has a negative connotation such as trying to deceive itself as being original. Modifying isn't deceiving, just adding some personal character! But to each their own.
Excellent video. I will be interested in the movement modification only and will contact you in the near future to have my modification done. Have a great day and thank you.
The Sumo handset doesen't seem original to me. All too white and a faulty quality on the hourhand. Are they luminous? They're not the same color as the markers on the dial. It's a little uncool for a hand-modded watch.
I just don't understand why you would buy a good seiko 007/013 and rip the guts outta it.. These watches will be worth a hell of a lot more in the future if they are not changed/modded. 👍don't get me wrong, they look nice.. But there's something reliable about have a piece that you know hasn't been touched or altered.. Piece of mind.. Maybe cause I was born in the 70s. Lol. 😆In my opinion.. Great vid though👍👍

Great vid! Just got into modding Seikos recently and your videos have been a great help. Always looking forward to seeing more!
Beautiful mods, and great video. That dial from the SKX171 is amazing. I'm going to start my search.
Can we still use those modified skx watches for scuba diving ?
Both look great 👌

Nice.
What chapter ring did you use for the stargate dial

What size fat bars do i need for a skx007j1 thanks
Is this ceramic bezel insert on the first watch fully luminous? Or only pip?
I like the first version MOD, it is superb~!! The best MOD I ever see so far.
where I can pruchare a SKX171-dial?
Does anyone know if it's possible to get a ceramic Pepsi bezel for a turtle? Thanks
Does the NH36 upgrade have a screw down capability...it doesnt seem so from your video...?
The crown does screw down, I just left it undone for ease of demonstrating the watch for the video! You can check out my other modification videos to see the crown screw down.
Lume Shot Great, many thanks!

do u know if a 007 crystal n bezel insert will work. on a spinnaker wreck... sorry but i cant find any info.. the wreck uses a nh35 mvmt
So, how much does the blue one cost? Thank you for your video! Roger
How about the smaller SKX013? Is there flexibility for that one?
Thank's again for another great video. Your video's are the best. I've learnt heaps from you. I even mod my own watches now.
Where can I get second mod dial? 🙏🏻
Hi there. How different is the skx007k1? Can it be modified same way as the K2?
I just did a Skx 013 Tudor snowflake mod ( pics and vid on my channel ). Just curios. The dial is almost too sterile now without a Seiko logo . Do you think maybe I could remove an applied Seiko logo from another dial and apply it to my new dial? I thinking maybe glue it on with crafters cement ? Thanks .
Very possible. The logos are usually attached by feet. If those are cut off, it would definitely work.
Lume Shot thank you !
Yeah the applied markers are really nice and I wish they were available.
Where’s a good reputable place to buy the first dial at? I know they’re all over eBay, but I just don’t know if they’re any good or will last.

Any word on upgrading the skx013 to an nh36 yet?
Is it possible to mod to a Seiko dial without any day/date window?
Does anyone know where I can find the SRP493/SRP495 dial that's on the blue skx mod on the left?
Do you mod skx013? I would love a dome Sapphire crystal blue gmt bezel and a blue chapter ring?
Lume pip on the black ceramic bezel is filthy!

So how much is someone looking at to modify the entire thing including movement?
Shoot me an email at eyoon319@gmail.com to discuss details!
Just love your mods bro 👍😁
I need that SKX171 dial
1:09 dial design!! i want it
Great video that shows the before and after mods. Where can I buy SKX 171 dial?
The blue is........... ............perfect !!!!!
She looks like old Seiko divers for the 80'.
The ceramic bezel and sapphir glass make these Seiko's more luxury.
Bye.
Beautiful modifications!!!
Thank you!
Awesome work! New subscriber.
Awesome mods👌👍
Just won a skx on eBay for 76$ prob going to mod it. Do you know where I can get a Rolex style bezel?
Jon Hey one second closer sells some rolex style bezels for skx
Where can I source movements?
eBay
The Remnant 1611 I'd figured that bit out you plum
crystaltimes.net/shop/movements/ 😉
Peter Shallis Then why ask a dumb question?
Terry Hampton thanks buddy.

Lume Shot your modded seikos are not frankein watches.....theres a consistency..........
I somewhat understand. Had to destroy the watch that the parts came from. I would guess it was not a functioning watch?
Hi. I apologize for using that term, I understand it was a bad choice of words. Meant no offense. Cheers.
Do you modify Orient Makos?
Excellent video. I will be interested in the movement modification only and will contact you in the near future to have my modification done. Have a great day and thank you.
Nice mods dude
I swear people could think one of these was a Rolex with correct mod
L o l watch Fanantic !
With bracelet on I'd have a better visual idea how it looks to compare the two.
The Sumo handset doesen't seem original to me. All too white and a faulty quality on the hourhand. Are they luminous? They're not the same color as the markers on the dial. It's a little uncool for a hand-modded watch.
Original watch look still can't be besten, also the lume on the original is the brightest
The other dials still shine as bright as the 007, though. Both dials are Seiko original
Nice👍🏼

Those watches are almost a dime a dozen ...
Basically u just kept SKX case and changed the watch completely.
Have mine that looks like milgaus
