Hey man I have an idea for a new video. I have always wanted to see the Bunya Pine grown from seed, but I have n seen a video of them anywhere. Oceania has some of my favorite conifers! Also btw man amazing channel!
Hey mate thanks heaps!! Ahhh I love the bunya pine. I was planning on actually making a big series on the Araucariaceae family, doing germination videos on heaps of the species. I agree, the Southern Hemisphere conifers are gnarly and my favourite trees. I would have ordered some seeds and done a video for you! However I’m currently on holidays for 5 weeks and then am moving to Canada with my wife (the channel will still be running) so it’ll be hard to do some of my favourite species over there. But lots of new ones!! The Araucariaceae are all very similar to germinate. If you whacked them in a pot, kept them moist and relatively warm you should eventually get some to germinate. I’ll see if I can order some when I’m there and still do a video

Gday Trev. When the seedlings get too long/fighting for light and wanting to be a dominant tree etc. They’ve grown too quickly, so transplanting them helps with that
hi, when should I germinate, in winter or wait until spring? In the video, you started 6weeks after collecting. So is it winter ok? And is it fridge or freezer? Sorry, too many questions.
Hello! No don't be sorry about the questions!!! I would wait until spring. Keep them cold and stratifying in winter (if you live in a very cold climate, keep them outside in a container) or you can keep it in either the fridge or freezer. I personally just use the fridge and that has seemed to work well. I think the seeds just need to stay consistently cold, and as soon as you take them out, follow the same process as this video. That'll snap the seeds out of stratification and into germination. It's just that change in temperature from cold to warm as well as the moisture that signals to the seed that it's time to grow. You should get a bunch of seeds germinating reasonably quickly. But mortality rate is also high, especially in your first few attempts so don't be discouraged if only a few mature. They seem to be a very delicate seedling. Good luck and let me know how it goes :D
Also a quick tip that helped me a lot with germinating trees from all around the world. If you are unsure how to germinate any tree seeds, just look up where the species is from. If it originates from a region with cold climates in winter, then give the seeds a cold winter (stratification). If they are from a tropical environment, they wont need to be stratified at all. If the seed is in a hard casing, try scarification to significantly increase the germination process. The more you germinate and trial with seeds, the better you become at it and you will feel more confident in trying things for the first time. Hope this helps jbrett.

I've been overseas for the last year and I gave all of these trees away. In the future I will be able to do updated videos on whatever I plant/germinate once I've settled down in one place.
