Great video thanks. How has leak detection worked for you either in testing or real life? Some companies like Moen advertise the ability to detect a pinhole leak. Does YoLink have a similar feature, or is it strictly based on quantity and/or time of water use? Do you think that’s sufficient? I’m on the fence about buying now vs. waiting for technology to advance in the next couple years.

Yes I think it's looking at how much water is used over time. But I'm using mine on my swimming pool line only and that was actually one reason Moen wouldn't work for me. The pool is on a ball valve so it trickles constantly. No way Moen can separate that from a pinhole leak. Personally I'd recommend one of the YoLink retro fit valve robots that mounts on top of your existing shut off valve. And with the money you save buy lots of their leak detectors and put them around the house. I'd do it now rather than wait a few years. You never know when you might have a leak and the cost and inconvenience of that is very high.

@ScottAllison Thanks that makes sense. And yes good idea. I do already have a bunch of the leak detectors for non-supply side leaks (drains and other areas), but don't have them placed everywhere or have access to many of the pipes on the supply-side. That's why I'm in the market for a leak detector based on water usage. I see YoLink has these as well (FlowSmart Control: Meter & Valve Controller, 1/2" Meter & Motorized Valve Kit), which are meters with a "pulse counter", and then there's the retrofit robot arms and the all-in-one you reviewed here.
Do you think any of these options could detect a pinhole leak? My guess is the only way to do that is to set it up so that "if >0.5 gallons are lost at 3am, consider it a pinhole leak" or something like that.
I might have to reach out to the company to see if this is a feature, but it'd be great if it accounted for pressure changes in relation to water usage (ie., a leak is suspected if water is lost even during steady water pressures, such as through a trickle/pinhole leak).

The manual states that installation on a downward flowing pipe is not advised.

Correct, but I didn't have much choice. I did reach out to YoLink and they said I could do it, might affect accuracy a little. It doesn't seem to at all.
