Congrats on the new bike! Glad to hear you sprung for the SP. Getting philosophical, I think you *can* buy happiness by buying things. Anything that gives you experiences or challenges you to do or try something new is worth spending money on. When you're our age and tethered to the "real world" by kids and a job and all those other responsibilities, sometimes spending your money on something that lets you escape all that is one of the best ways to buy joy.
Yes Tim! Welcome to the club. A bit of info, the Tracer 9 heated grips fit with a little bit of modification and they integrate with the dash 100%. Just in case you can't get your hands on the MT-10 ones like me. Oh and the Gen1 comfort seat also fits
Bought my MT10SP last year in Poland where I have lived for many years. Truly amazing!! Genuinely nothing to dislike. The biggest surprise for me was being able to ride such a sporty naked at 6'4'" with 35 inseam. Most similar motorcycles are just cramped and uncomfortable. I can ride the MT10 for hours. Your dream has come true!! Congratulations Tim
Hah I'm the same size, just bought an SP myself specifically because of that. It's so hard to find sporty bikes that are comfortable at this size, but the MT10 isn't cramped at all. Really comfortable bike for me.
Congratulations on your purchase, Tim. Like you, I thought the standard bike was great, but the SP is better still and an absolutely brilliant bike to ride and own. You're in for a treat!
Thanks mate! Will double check them all. Just tried to stick an optimate lead on it and have lost a battery terminal bolt 😂 more thrilling modification content
Hi Tim, 8 years ago you posted this video (Ride Along on a Beautiful Motorbike Road Trip - Europe Style) It showed up as a memory on my Facebook, was a lovely reminder of what I used as motivation to do my test! I own a 2013 Yamaha R1 now 😊 (Thank you)
This makes me so SO happy. Thank you for the comment, I miss making those dodgy music videos! I'd get copyright strikes out the bumhole if I did those these days
Had to watch again. I got the standard 10, my second one, but I do love the suspenders on the sp. I’ve already got a yamaha with the blurple wheels, a term from the early fz09 days, so I couldn’t really get another. They’d clash! Cool stuff. 👍🤪🇨🇦
I've been dreaming about it too! Probably going to wait until the first of the year and get the 2024 model. The first thing I'll get is a V Stream windscreen.
Thanks Neil! Yeah, I was filming in the 5.3k open gate mode and cropped in for this so it was a bit tighter than I’d have liked… and any action cam will be noisy at sunset I guess!
Nice brother. Always thought Yams are the pretty, meanest looking bikes. For me this year it was the V4s after watching yours and many other reviews. Their all joyous really 👍🏻🤪
Welcome to the mt10 ownership experience 😅😅 all I've done since getting my cyan storm in July is laugh out loud, this bike is brilliant, I've had my suspension setup recently and it's simply a different bike now, more plush over the bumps but amazing in the twisties..., anyway Tim you'll love it..👍👍
Hey Tim, big fan of your channel, and congratulations. Now that you are officially a "Yamaha man" maybe you could try the XSR900 or the MT09SP- something tells me you'd like them 😉
Yeah, so today I test-rode four bikes back2back: original KTM SMT999, Yamaha Tenere 700, BMW R Nine T, Yamaha MT-10. The MT was head and shoulders above the others for me. So much fun, yet controllable, competent, smooth but rough, fast, just loved it.
Congratulations Tim. Had my base MT10 since 2016. It's been absolutely brilliant. Bonkers fun, wide big person seat, and so far mine has been super reliable over it's 33,000 miles. Some SW Motech Blaze panniers work well with the bike. Only slight downside is it's thirst and range.
Thank you! I’ve got my eye on those panniers for next year. I’m loving the idea of a bike that just goes and goes without worrying about whether it’ll fire up or not
Awesome bike Tim love it! Pure Quality riding. Noticed you were on the A283 I love that route, I'm always out weekends on my Sprint ST 1050 racing around that area and the A272, shame Autumn has arrived!.😎🤙👊👍
Looks ace! 💪 I almost got one this summer, but I'd never owned a KTM big twin and the SDR Evo was calling... very pleased with that, but I think I would've been very happy with the MT-10 too. I look forward to more videos on this!
Tim, good call; I owned one so a couple tips - get a cover for the oil cooler or it'll be a proper mess in 5k miles and also a rad cover. An Akra can and decat along with a dyno run and setup (suggest BSD in P'borough) is a little on the noisy side but just about on the right side of acceptable and makes the ride much crisper and more predictable - really lovely. Put some HH pads in the front and it transforms the brakes. As you get more used to it you will get cheekier and cheekier 'till one day you get home and think 'I must stop doing that' as you reflect on the 80mph thrid gear power wheelie you just pulled........and then you'll do the same thing the next day. Take care and have fun....
Thanks! It has an oil cooler and rad cover (both the upgraded Yam parts, not the stock chicken wire!). Already discovered the third gear power wheelies haha! Might investigate the Leo Vince decat - it seems like it doesn't make it tooooo loud.
Done the same a few times. Just bought a Super Duke Evo without even sitting on one. There are just no bad bikes nowadays. Would have gone for the MT10SP but current KTM deal with £3k off, 4 year warranty and 4.9% PCP deal made it so much cheaper monthly
Thanks! Haha yes, bit spendy though! Last year I got the motorised Lego lighthouse and it’s become a centrepiece on our dining table. Not sure I could get away with that with the Yamaha!
Congrats Tim. Fantastic looking thing! Great timing too, with a a little bit more summer left to enjoy 😀 I had a customer that thought Yamaha was an English brand! He pronounced it Yarr-Marr-Harr 🤡
There’s a slight boredom that comes with riding a adv style bike When you swap to a naked or a supersport etc you fall in love with riding again maybe it’s the wind 😂 good luck with the 10 I have it’s little brother sp obviously for gold bits and can’t fault it
Tim, and others who have MT!0s does the bike dive to the right if you leave go of the handle bars ???? lots complain that they drop right and don't run straight ???
Get in before the solid white. They’re for peeps going the other way at 7:55. British Highway Code. If you see them you take it as an instruction to WHEELIE 😎
@timrodierides Enjoy it, man. Happy for you. Can't wait for the content on it. I have made the decision, I'll be chopping my f900xr TE in this week for a 1200GSA triple black 2019. Whilst I'm only 27, my bike now be my main transport so bigger tank etc is needed. With the extra pennines I'll save from buying a 1250, I'll use that towards a deposit for a 21 Duke 1290R or Tuono V4 Factory me thinks.
I have a streetfighter V4 2020 but i font like it in the lower speeds and gears because of the sticky feeling. What can i do about this? Was thinking to trade it in for de MT10. How is the MT10, much smoother?
It's probably preference and affordable. The Ducati skips past the affordable for most people. They're two different bikes really. One being more of a cruiser and the other more a naked sport bike.
Money does buy happiness. If it cannot then go see a psychiatrist. In todays world material gain is everything. Don't believe me then go live with a homeless person this winter.
Congrats on the new bike! Glad to hear you sprung for the SP.

Congrats Tim, keep looking at (and loving) my Streetfighter V4S in the garage, but this MT10 SP calls to me - must be that CP4. Need to ride one.

Brave man switching from adventure bike to naked as winter approaches.
Congratulations on your purchase, Tim. Like you, I thought the standard bike was great, but the SP is better still and an absolutely brilliant bike to ride and own. You're in for a treat!
Fantastic Tim!! Very jealous its an incredible machine. Check the suspension setup as all my modes were set the same by default.
Enjoy her buddy 👍

Hahahah! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to Keeno - Nocturne 😅
Congrats! Just found your channel cause I'm also thinking of getting the MT-10 next year.
As someone who's exhausted TH-cam watching MT10 videos and then bought one… I can say you won't be disappointed!
Ha! I know that situation: want it, justify it, fund it, am I doing the right thing, GRIN!!!!
I know - I just had 2-3 months of "am I doing the right thing, do the kids need food... nah"
@@timrodierides …..and I can always sell it if I need money 😄
Congrats!! Hey, you only live once, so enjoy it whilst you can!
I’ve bought 18 bikes, and only ever ridden 1 before buying
Is that why you’ve had to buy 18 bikes? 😉
@@hmm3160 😂😂😂 very good
Really pleased for you matey ..nothing better than new bike day 👍
Thanks Gerry, appreciate the support! Now if we could just get summer to come back…
Had to watch again. I got the standard 10, my second one, but I do love the suspenders on the sp. I’ve already got a yamaha with the blurple wheels, a term from the early fz09 days, so I couldn’t really get another. They’d clash! Cool stuff. 👍🤪🇨🇦

My dream bike. Been riding for 2 years on an old 2008 Honda CBF 600. Looking to upgrade after Christmas.
Congrats, Tim! Oh and the new GoPro did a great job, especially with the sunset.
Thanks Neil! Yeah, I was filming in the 5.3k open gate mode and cropped in for this so it was a bit tighter than I’d have liked… and any action cam will be noisy at sunset I guess!
Hi Tim, I watched this video and loved your enthusiasm, it’s a great feeling alright. Enjoy the steed! 👌🏍️
Thank you v much! Hoping for a bit more summer to enjoy it with
I suggest you look at the reviews comparing ACF50 to XCP Clearcoat, and others.
Will do, it's been ages since I bought the gloopy purple stuff!
Congratulations on Your New Bike. A Beautiful Machine. The Modern Day Version of The 2003 Fazer 1000. Enjoy 😊
Nice brother. Always thought Yams are the pretty, meanest looking bikes. For me this year it was the V4s after watching yours and many other reviews. Their all joyous really 👍🏻🤪
There’s not a bike you can’t have fun on. Tonic for the brain!
Considering most places have quit letting people test ride it’s pretty normal to never ride a bike before buying now.

Thank you very much!
I'm getting one man seriously great bike for that kinda money
It's the best way to be, I've done the same on a few occasions. I think if you know you know. Enjoy mate!
Bloody fantastic! I hope she brings you very many happy miles xxx
Hey Tim, big fan of your channel, and congratulations. Now that you are officially a "Yamaha man" maybe you could try the XSR900 or the MT09SP- something tells me you'd like them 😉

I've got a Tracer 900 (first big bike) and it's bonkers. Can't imagine how insane the 10 is. Nice choice!
I'm borrowing a Tracer 9GT+ at the moment and it's epic
bought one last week to replace an unreliable rocket 3, shoulda bought one of these a long time ago!!

Booooooo no more KTM content? Sad face. Nah, can't beat new bike day and enjoy your new beast Tim. Looks amazing and bloody rapid.
I’ve got another KTM review in the bank, but no more of my 1290
Fair play to you for taking the risk. Would be good to get your feelings on it after a few months of ownership. See if it was a good or a bad buy
Had the previous gen SP, stonking machine mate, you'll love it, traded for a 1290 R Thinking about trading back to the new SP😊
Haha! I love the SDR, I just can't insure one for some reason...
Congrats on new bike have the standard mt10

What made you go for the mt over the sdr? I’m torn between the 2 now ktm have put the 4 year warranty on!!
Two reasons. 1: I’ve had a KTM with a similar engine and I like variety. 2: Can’t insure the KTM!!!
Wow. You obviously live somewhere where they get nicked daily 😆 question for ya, if you could’ve insured would it have been in the running?

Nice bike. It’s Ohlins btw, not Errlins!
The umlaut disagrees
... best way, buy on looks. Everything is sortable
Re others flashing they may be warning that one light bulb is out 🤦♂️
Maybe I need to be like every American bike TH-camr and ride with my main beam on constantly...
Hi Tim, did you prefer the MT10 to the Diavel V4?
It's probably preference and affordable. The Ducati skips past the affordable for most people. They're two different bikes really. One being more of a cruiser and the other more a naked sport bike.
Exactly. Love the Diavel V4 but can't afford one - and I'm not sure I'd be comfortable on it for longer trips
Erlins electronic suspension. Lol, I thought I talked funny. (BN from PH)
Haha hello sir. Well I'd say Oh-lins, but it's got an umlaut on the O innit
What’s your fuel consumption?
I’ve heard the MT10 is very thirsty.
About 40mpg on a cruise, 35mpg ragging it!
Image stabilisation kills the rawness of the ride. Feels like you are going 10mph. Just an observation. On the other hand… great bike 🎉
I was going 10mph! You're right though. Was filming this in the new 5.3k square resolution and it didn't go wide enough really.
👍👍👏
