- If you want to be able to Boondock and camp anywhere that you can get a truck, look no further than the arctic fox 865 truck camper! With 42 gallons of freshwater 32 black and 31 gray, and fully self-contained, you can camp for long extended periods of time without needing to run to town for water. Equipped with solar and an optional generator you have all the power you need to be able to Boondock and camp off grid! The Arctic Fox truck campers are a true four season camper with fully enclosed and heated tanks, dual pane windows, and 2 inch thick sidewalls, which give you the ability to ski and snowmobile out of a camper without freezing up. Great for hunters, mountain bikers, horse enthusiasts, or anyone looking to get into those tight spots in the backwoods. If you have been dreaming of living the “van life”, but want the tank capacities and amenities of a trailer, the Arctic Fox truck campers are the perfect blend of the two!
I like how you have the face-to-face dinette without having to have a slide out.
Appreciate that you explained how the truck was set up.
I am not interested in a slide in camper, but I do enjoy your videos and it was a bonus for you to share your family with us who follow you. It was a nice personal touch ! PS. I can't believe you did a base jump, wow !
Very cool brought tears to my eyes. What a great time.
🥰 Thank you!!!!
You're a brave sole to take 3 boys in a slide in camper. In our past we have had 2 slide- ins. With the first child it was doable. Then like yourself we had twins. That put the fork in it. We then went to 2 different tent trailers, then a class A motorhome. They are now grown & gone and we are in a 26KVS. I really like the slide- ins as we like to boondock; but we're spoiled with the space in our ORV. Yes, the wet-bath provides more room, but also requires a lot more time & energy drying it out after using. EVERYTHING gets wet and must be dried out thoroughly or mildew & mold may take hold
The hot air balloon looked like fun. Not so much the parachute. But it did look fun. Great memories with your family. Thanks for sharing your vacation.
Great camper. I never thought that a wet bath would have more space, but it does make sense.
Dodge makes cars, and RAM makes trucks.
LOL. That's true now, but us older folks remember when it was all the same, and in our minds a RAM truck is still a Dodge. 🛻
You are a very good reviewer. Being an Oregon resident myself not to far from you and looking to by a truck camper eventually, I just might have to sub.
Nice video, especially with your family in the beautiful country.
As usual great video on the truck camper...so glad you added the end of you and your boys!
Thanks for the video and sharing your vacation experience with us ,looks like you all had a awesome time! I personally love the 1150 wet bath, but you need a monster truck to haul it.
Really nice camper.. would like to have one..
Awesome video, looks like a fabulous holiday. Base jump too- Cool!!
Personally not a camper fan but that model does look nice!
Such a cool vacation.
Great review. I'm in the early stages of this whole truck camper deal, I'll surely head down and look you up. I'm from tri-cites. Thanks , Kevin 🙂
COOL MOM !😁👍
Can you please tell me the name of the jacket you're wearing? Thank you! I love it!
Congratulations on the wonderful trip! Good for all 4 of you. Great adventures.
Follow up question: For a RAM 3500 Mega Cab, the wheel base being longer on the Mega Cabs, are these suitable for a short box camper? Payload is rated just above 4,000lbs.
Unfortunately, no. The bed is just a bit shorter than ford and Chevy, and the axle is still too far forward. Total is nearly 13” further forward the ford Chevy, which makes the center of gravity 13” behind where it needs to be. It’s not a payload problem, but rather axle placement.
@@thompsonrvinc Thank You!
I played space invaders for the first time in Pendleton.
😂
My only question is why didn't I enjoy my life earlier and do all of this?
It’s never too late!!!! :)
Can you tell us the weight of the camper as it sits?
They (dealer) won't tell you this but, the weight is closer to 4000 Lb than what they tell you.
What is your gross weight? I have a 2024 GMC Sierra crew cab 3500 AT4 short bed SRW with a Duramax. I have looked at the AF 865 and on paper seems the wet weight maxs out the trucks GVWR. I love this camper, buts is heavy for SRW.
Any chance you’d be willing to share the door sticker listed payload capacity of that truck?
You said single rear axle & long box but a 3500 or 2500 ? Love the 865 but thinking my 2500 can't do it (safely).
3500 is ideal….
Will a generator equipped short bed 865 fit in a long bed?
No. It wouldn’t slide all the way in.
@@thompsonrvinc Can the water heater be swapped out for an on-demand water heater?
Is that a tv backer above the door?
How much $$$ For this unit with generator For a F-150 Ford 4x4 ?
What is the weight of this unit? Maybe i missed it. Thanks!
I don't like having to step up to enter the bathroom ankle breaker waiting to happen. They are making the campers so big you have to modify your truck with sway bars, airbags, etc. Just to carry it. By the time you buy a 1 ton, do all the modifications and the camper you are over $120K and that's on the cheap end. I think I would rather have a small motorhome with a lot more space for the price. I have seen class A for $97k.
Well if you don’t like the step into the bathroom, you definitely wouldn’t like the step to the bed or into the camper! In your case, a camper wouldn’t be ideal. The resale value of a truck and camper separately has much less depreciation than a motor home. But honestly, a camper isn’t for everyone!
Was not having a generator a non issue?
I don't hardly ever use one. Typically I travel in the off season and never need air conditioning. And I never use a microwave.... Everything else is 12V or LP!
How did you mount your bikes with the Artic Fox?
Great question!! We actually rented bikes once we got to Moab. We had to lay the two small bikes on the dinette, and the two large bikes went right through the door... BUT, years ago I had a 2" front hitch on my truck and put them on the front with a bike rack.
Where did you store the bikes?
Wish I could add a photo to this comment! We rented bikes once we got to Moab. Had the dinette made down and covered with the two little bikes on it, then the two large bikes right in the main walkway! It was tight but doable. I’ve had a front receiver in the past and put them on a bike rack in the front of the truck. A folding bike rack in the back would work as well!
imagine wearing shoes in your bed
They never want to say the price be cuse they want so much money it's un real unless your rich it is ausom out of my rang Tho ..
Too bad it's not a 865LB don't see them too much😢 overpriced now too liked them better in the 30k range pre covid prices😂
It IS a long box….
