This film holds a special memory for me ... this was the 1st movie I saw in the theater. While living in NY, my mother took me on the train to Radio City Music Hall during the Christmas season 1971. So here I was in my little suit, entering this beautiful 'palace' to watch one of Disney's great films (that often goes unnoticed today). It was a thrilling experience... getting dressed up, train ride, movie and a hot dog in the city, and a wonderful time with my mother.
As for me I was really young when this was released.i believe I was six years old.the earlier show was packed so we had to go to the next showing which cost more but nowhere like today's theater prices.
Lord mij: I am 40 and I just watched this movie with my 10 year old today. Great memories from my childhood that I was able to spend with my son. Good times.
About the ride that could be based on it: That would be a great idea. They could have the magic bedknob music with it too ("When You Reach the Age of Unbelieving").
Aww. I watched this at Christmas! It still has the same magic as when I watched it as a kid. Angela Lansbury is just amazing, such a talent. Great memories 😊
This film and Willy Wonka both turn fifty this year. B&B has been called a second rate Mary Poppins, but it won an Oscar for its special effects. Angela Lansbury is still alive at 95 and it was the last film for 84 year old Reginald Owen, best known for playing Scrooge in 1938. The story takes place during the war and there is a battle scene, but violence was kept to a minimum because it was a children's film.
Yeah it’s a great movie, I haven’t seen it for ages but I used to watch it with my grandparents along with the other films you mentioned. Another favourite was Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Great times.
It was suppose to be a Mary Poppins movie. All the stuff they couldn’t do in the original MP movie got carried over to this movie and they gave us an original story. The most obvious scene was the Beautiful Briny sea scene which was in one of the MP books and actually did get used in the MP sequel.
honestly SUCH a good film, so happy I was made to watch it when I was younger...definitely prefer it to Mary Poppins or is at least more memorable for me
I love this movie. I was born in the ealry 1990s and I find it sad that more of my peers are not familiar with this film. It makes me even more sad that the generations after mine do not appreciate this kind of movie.
I saw this on TV as a kid back in the 80s. Watched it again after receiving it as a featured title on Disney Movie Club on Blu-Ray almost a decade ago. I think it's a good movie.
I've had the strangest memory for years of a movie with two kids traveling in a dark, weird black hole on a flying bed. Looks like I just figured out where it was from. lol
Never saw this movie before and now I want to! Found it on Disney Plus and I can't wait to watch it! The Dad from Mary Poppins and Angela Lansbery, oh my god! I so need to watch this! And now that Angela is gone, may she rest in peace and to honor her I will watch it!
THIS IS WHAT DISNEY FILMS WERE LIKE BACK WHEN DISNEY FILMS WERE WORTH WATCHING!! Only Disney could make well played, written, and acted movies that were entertaining, engaging, and intriguing for everyone fron 5 to 95, yet these movies had a G rating!
I like bedknobs and broomsticks and also i like angela lansbury she's got a beautiful voices and also richard m sherman he is best disney songwriter ever I love it ❤
My dad saw this at a drive in theater when he was 9 years old. Today the theater is no longer standing & is now a walmart. worst part of this is that I live so close to it & if I were living in the 70's now I would be working there.
Disney must have been reeling in the success of Mary Poppins and took acid when he made this. Also, "Funny man David Tomlinson"? He usually plays the straight man.
I was going crazy looking for this movie 😂💀 ugh I'm so happy I found it. Google was just suggesting marry Poppins, Nanny McPhee I was about to lose hope
0:15 Happy 50th Birthday Disney's Bedknobs And Broomsticks The Movie. 1971 - 2021. 50 Years Of Disney Magic Family Fun Fantasy Epic Music Comedy Action Adventure And Excitement. X
Just because all her witching stuff was destroyed doesn't mean Eglantine Price stopped being a witch. Using magic, especially a spell on the level of a giant Substitutiary Locomotion spell made her almost immortal, so she had to keep changing her name and moving around. By the 1980's she'd moved to New England and become a mystery writer under and assumed name. How else do you think she manages to figure out all those murders, or knows where to be to find them?
Carrie and Paul both have blue eyes although they have different hair colors. 💙❤💜 Anybody else noticed that yet? Makes them look more like siblings. ^_____^
+ajuk1 yes. back when i was a six year old kid back in decmber of 1971 dad drove all the way from the east side of cleveland to see this at westgate mall cinema . unfortunately wed missed the earlier show and had to stay for the later one. nearly broke down because i was thinking wed came all the way from the east side of cleveland for nothing fortunately dad was a generous man and paid a little extra for the later show much to my delight.
+Emily Evans No, David Tomlinson who was in this was the father in Mary Poppins but Angela Lansbury wasn't in Mary Poppins. Glynis Johns played the mother in Mary Poppins.
RIP Angela Lansbury. Will always love this movie and the fantastic music score.

I saw this movie on TV back in the mid 80's as a kid.....I'm gonna watch it again today, I'm 41 now 🙂
Lord mij: I am 40 and I just watched this movie with my 10 year old today. Great memories from my childhood that I was able to spend with my son. Good times.
I was born in 1998 and I loved this film as a kid, was my absolute favourite. Only just did I realise it was a 70s film
I'm 50 years old and I love this movie. It's ageless.
This movie was my favorite as a child, and remains to be just as magical to this day.
This was one of my favourite childhood films. Never get tired of watching it.
Yeah mine too. It was this film, the Wizard of OZ, Drop Dead Fred and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang lol.
This movie is brilliant. Takes me back to being a kid and watching it with amazement. Classic
Rest in peace iconic legend thank you for the great memories
I remember being a kid and wishing so badly that my bed could fly.
Me too! I did and to have a sparkly magical bed knob! And the ability to turn into a rabbit! lol ✨😀💕
Yeah me too, my bed even had bed knobs on it that were made out of wood that would come off if you were to twist and turn them. 😁
Disney Land -- or Disney World -- really should feature VR ride on the enchanted bed among its attractions.
About the ride that could be based on it:
That would be a great idea. They could have the magic bedknob music with it too ("When You Reach the Age of Unbelieving").
Same! I used to have a similar bed frame and would always tap it three times and loosen it but alas, no magic trips to the beautiful briny sea for me!
Such a forgotten Disney classic.
Absolutely not forgotten in our house. I’m 44 and I religiously watch this for fun at least once a year still 😂🪄✨🧙🏻♀️🐈⬛
Forgotten by no one
I swear I've had "portobello road" stuck in my head for decades. Good times!
I'm so glad, that after all these years, to discover I'm not the ONLY person with that in my head......
Me too!
Me too!
amazing how did you get a road in your head? I hope it doesn't drive you crazy
IKR the song is so enchanting.
This was a favorite childhood movie. Angela Lansbury and David Tomlinson were charming in this movie.
+Andrew Todaro It's one of my favorite as well. It's just sad that they might remake this movie as well.
I like Charlie better as a Rabbit. Whatever you like
My wife just brought me back here by coincidence, when my son is back from vacation I watch this movie again with him, big nostalgie
Aww. I watched this at Christmas! It still has the same magic as when I watched it as a kid. Angela Lansbury is just amazing, such a talent. Great memories 😊

if u ask me, this film beats Mary Poppins every time
honestly SUCH a good film, so happy I was made to watch it when I was younger...definitely prefer it to Mary Poppins or is at least more memorable for me
This movie was released in 1971. I was born in 1964. I was 7 when this was new. The memories are priceless.

DUDE I REMEMBER THIS
2020 my man
It's a shame, the German Censorship cut out over 30 minutes from this movie.
Why does this movie look better on both standard definition and VHS than on HD and Blu-ray?
Damn totally forgot the existence of this movie. Used to creep the shit out of me.
Give it up for Lansbury... *she was a hottie* 😍
I love this movie
I always thought it was from an earlier time than 1971, maybe it was one of the last of it's era?
