Well he plays a character of the over the top dippy one. I think james may is pretty close to his persona on top gear but the other two seem to be more characters rather than their actual personality

But he mentioned on Drivetribe recently he doesn't like old cars, he doesn't own any and most of his cars are electric now. And he's messing around on Food Tribe making sandwiches for a fairly small audience. Also he bought a pub and it's all modern looking with posh food. None of which matches his Top Gear character I think.
It's a simple case of mishearing 'nam' , but truly amazing is assuming that when they first met they remembered something that would only happen many years later..
Im from Costa Rica, i grow up with no friends and so, my grandpa had cable tv and every time i went to his house i used to watch BBC cus i really like how they sound (the accent) and most of the time i was watching Top Gear and even tho at the time i didnt understand what they were saying i loved the cars, now days im rewatching the old seasons of Top Gear. Thxs boys.

Just wish that Amazon would hurry up with the Madagascar episode. Thank you Jeremy and to Richard and James for the many, many years that you've kept me entertained.
I think what I like most about the 3 of them is the chemistry they have... every series they've filmed feels like 3 best friends being filmed and all the antics that might entail

The irony is that James May is the keystone person in the series. Still has the best most active career and is the nicest, funniest, realest person of the trio.
I can't think of anyone else who could hold my attention so easily with a show concept like "The Reassembler" Fascinating how he makes THAT so watchable.
Clarkson, Hammond, and May are just lighting in a bottle, it’s clear just how much they love working together, especially during that time when Clarkson got fired both Hammond and May immediately left the BBC to stick by their friend, I love how one reporter during that time actually asked James who he would want to work with on Top Gear now that Jeremy was gone and May replied “As much I think he’s a knob I quite like working with Jeremy” that in a nutshell is the perfect description of their friendship, I’m glad it’s not an Opie and Anthony thing where it seems like they enjoy it but off camera they hate each other
I’ve watched them for so long that they just feel like eternal presences to me. I can’t remember when I didn’t know them. It’s gonna be SO weird when they pass away.

They each bring a different perspective to the table and their on screen chemistry is second to none. Jeremy Clarkson has truly created a show that is HIM. There will never be another and the BBC continuation of Top Gear is NOT the same. Was so glad Amazon continued with the Grand Tour and hope the old boys have a few years left. Truly amazing group of guys, film crew, and locations they did. Best to all the cast and crew.
I'm really sad that "The News" or "Conversation Street" is no more. More than the cars, the banter and audience interaction would make my house cleaning Sundays uplifting.
The main thing is the interaction between the three and their antics. For me the lamest part of Top Gear or The Grand Tour was any serious car reviews. Just put these guys in scenarios that will bring out their banter or frustrate them. Either what you're talking about, or when they put them in pieces of crap and send them on a fool's errand - often pranking each other along the way. That's when these guys are entertaining. So ditch any serious reviews and do all specials as they're doing, or just have them sitting together and talking. They're going all-specials now, maybe because they're still young enough to do it, once they're too old for that we can just watch them sitting in a nursing home talking nonsense.
It is once in a lifetime we get people like this, each one is unique, really talented in many different ways, so I bless them all, and thank them for what they have given to us!
The thing that makes it work is that they’re never out of character if a camera is rolling... squeaky Hammond and boring May. I’m sure their conversations together are different when away from lenses, and that these blokes really love each other at heart which is very rare in today’s world.

What a Legend !! Clarkson, May and Hammond will go down in History as The Best trio ever to popularise the modern Car Show. I will miss them when they retire, hopefully not soon, but you know what I mean. I'm always watching the re - runs of Top Gear and never get tired of them. James is the counter balance to Jeremy and Richard. Those three men were a huge influence on my life. I got a taste for the finer side of life from James, but I was able to check that against Jeremy and Richard so I was both a cool guy and a guy who liked the arts. I'd still rather go race and watch racing that go to a ballet or a opera but I do like them. I'm glad they were there when I had little other male influence in my life.

Clarkson, May and Hammond will go down in History as The Best trio ever to popularise the modern Car Show.
I will miss them when they retire, hopefully not soon, but you know what I mean.
I'm always watching the re - runs of Top Gear and never get tired of them. I still laugh at their antics, especially with the Top Gear Specials.
The new Top Gear is boring. I don't watch it.
Looking forward to the new season of The grand Tour.

By far the best trio in any show.
Despite Jeremy's comedy moaning about James, it's interesting to note that in the opening to the very first Grand Tour, when Jeremy is cruising across the US supposedly all alone, James is shown to be the first to pull up alongside him.....
Sharply noticed.
James has also said of Jeremy (paraphrased, I don't remember the exact word-for-word quote), "He's a bit of a knob but I enjoy working with him."
"Yea, you know, Hammond crashes all the time, so we're getting used to it now" 😂😂😂😂

James is the counter balance to Jeremy and Richard. Those three men were a huge influence on my life. I got a taste for the finer side of life from James, but I was able to check that against Jeremy and Richard so I was both a cool guy and a guy who liked the arts. I'd still rather go race and watch racing that go to a ballet or a opera but I do like them. I'm glad they were there when I had little other male influence in my life.
