Well, the corrupters and infestors won the game really...... That muta would have taken hours to hunt down all the units on the map, and the immortals would have ended the game long before.

I guess Blizzard is trying to make late games happen more often (nerfing reapers and all). But that should be a long process because of Lotv economy and the variety of units. But when that does happen, though. It'll be more fun than Broodwar.
That was really an entertaining match. We need more ping pong matches like this, really fun to see who will win. I hate zerg ( main protoss) but this is a match well done.
Honestly I think Zerg is a bit broken atm because of infestors perma cloak and infinite fungal spam. Also parasitic bombs straight up delete units. I’ve seen 100+ supply of void rays lost to parasitic bombs in a matter of seconds
I've seen sos win by abusing the sentry's shields to block and deny fungal spam. And using high templar to kill the vipers. Lol he won with a nerfed protoss

Basically this just shows that Infestors are goddamn OP and that Toss needs another OK way to detect stealth other than these goddamn observers. They are good up to midgame but in lategame they are just soo fragile.
also, this is just the "sort of late game" - SUPREME late game is when the whole map is mined out and it becomes a game of "who wasted the least money and harvested the most"

I think so too. In legacy of the void and storyline mode you can see how powerful the protoss army is. I don't like that they weaken it just to make the weaker Zerg and Terran players happy. If sos can beat Zerg and Terran players with a nerfed protoss army they can figure out a way to win also.

The races are pretty even, it's just that atm the top level protoss players just don'T play as well (Especially compared to the Terrans! Zerg and Protoss are both kinda in a slump at the moment). Also you should watch the entire series, because the other two games of this Best of 3 are very different. sc2casts(dot)com is a great source for the latest competetive games. The deathball protoss thing mostly comes from the fact that individual protoss units are (on average) stronger than individual units of the other races, but they build a lot slower, so if you just let a protoss get 200 supply for free, then you're gonna be in a lot of trouble, and it requires a lot of micro to win vs a full carrier fleet (although like this game has shown it's well possible to fight carriers and outmaneuver them, carriers are slow so you can just hit other places of the map where the carriers arent). But this deathball is for above reasons mostly a issue bad players have vs protoss.
tokeezeno Zerg had one point in SC2's history where it was imbalanced: at the end of WoL the infestors were very strong against bio. That's it. If you truly thing zerg is imbalanced you're a trash player, seriously. In this game the zerg absolutely outplayed his opponent.

not really, the units produced by the swarm are usually more fragile than the ones from other races (except for roaches and ultralisks) if you wonder why there is more replays about zerg winning is because the community extremely biased in their favor (including myself)
pro level zergs need to use nydus more in late game. zerg could pop it's entire army next to expos then pop back to defend counters like mothership recal but don't run out of energy

Sky toss isn't as insanely unbeatable as it was in its prime, and mass bcs can only do so much, but when both players are stuck at 200 supply desperate for any edge, wouldn't having more space for a bigger army be something worth doing? Obviously it would be insanely rare, only situation I could think of would be snatching a probe during a worker dump, but having an army 50 supply bigger could definitely turn the tide of a match
Great game. Still I think Toss lacks a viable Anti Air unit. Its a big weakness that is only present for Protoss. Its just bad balancing to rely on on an extremely fragile gas intensive unit like the High Temp.
Protoss was too indecisive just running around defending. He let the Zerg slowly destroy his bases. Should have gone for the kill early on when he had the huge air fleet, and just trade bases.
that's the thing though, zerg can (and did) lose his army as many times as he wants until he has no resources bc remaxing with larva is really easy but if the protoss loses his army once that's gg so he had to be careful
What is the protoss counter to parasitic bombs of zerg? Those other protoss players don't know what they're doing. Sos is the only protoss player that treats the best zerg players like redheaded step childs. He would abuse the shit out of sentry's to form a blockade against sentry's and would counter the tongue grabbers by using high templar to drain their energy,. And a lot of archons to support the air toss. Everytime he played he somehow managed to win even with a nerfed protoss army. Though I think in tournament play they purposely akuma'd the protoss to give the other races Terran and Zerg a fighting chance. Because one carrier alone storyline wise can purify/destroy an entire planet.
When all the air units get smushed together like that you can't tell what's going on. It's like you just have two blobs fighting each other, like they were each one unit. Blizzard no longer has the excuse that they had back in the day, that it was old tech. Either figure out how to put multiple air units on a single piece of the game board at different levels, or seperate them on game board because it takes away from the actual game and the feeling that this is a real battle in fucking space. I
People need to stfu about sky zerg being OP. The skill gap between skytoss and sky zerg is huge. It only works out this well because Dark is a god at zerg play
It wasn't even entirely about sky zerg in this game. It was how Dark adapted by building ultras to supplement his air army, which ended up countering the high templar to great effect. Very intelligent play that I would have never thought of in the same situation.
@@JukesMcGee and the fact that he luckily had his infestors undetected and could snipe all of stats high templars. if he didn't get those then his corruptors would not have been able to clean up the golden armada
I have a feeling that Sky Toss is absolutely hopeless vs late game Zerg. I watched a fair share of games in the past (not that much lately) and I don't remember if Protoss actually had good successes in the late game vs Zerg. Corruptors counter everything Protoss may throw at them.
That's not a mockery, but please show me a game where Protoss actually managed to outlast Zerg with all his Vipers, Corruptors, Infestors, etc. and managed to win the game. I really want to see it, because I never did.
the easiest solution is for protoss to have a ground detector. I think the real problem with sky toss are the infestors buried down and observers are an easy target for corrupters. Sure it might not matter that much in pro leagues but for lower ones, a single mis-click can put your observer/s in the front with many overseers. Corrupters snipe them, the infestors can go to town with fungals.
@mystirboy - That's where Oracle Revelation comes in: an alternate detection method that is much harder for Corruptors to snipe (and produced from the Stargate which you already have - convenient!)
From what i see protos need something like arbiter from sc1 coz he lack really late game spell casters. Templars are great dmg dealers but the don't provide any utility.

He was probably rapid-firing on the buildings with the Corruptor ability, so he just held down one key and moved his mouse around, giving him very high APM.
Hands down zerg has the best casters in the game. Infester/viper pairing can't be beat in terms of raw, game ending power. Until regular templar become invisible like burrowed infesters and cloaked ghosts, late game toss is toast.
I think the Infestor is the only unit I heavily dislike in SC2, and have ever done. The unit is so stupid, both mechanically and according to SC2 lore. They fixt it quite a bit, but the Neural Parasite is still very stupid. Away with that and every unit in SC2 is good.
this is why starcraft 2 is not taking the world anymore. the game has become so unbalanced with protoss being useful, terran barely usable and zerg is too dominating.

except it takes too long to send your army out of a nydus and pros have such good minimap awareness they will see/hear it coming and kill you
Holybad Nydus is incredibly gas heavy. If you don't do enough dmg off the initial wurm you will fall behind on tech and upgrades
