- I was not planning on making this video but I was having so much fun as I was going through the page with all the Monster Hunter themes that I decided to record it. So in honor of the Monster Hunter 20th Anniversary, today we'll go through the entire history of Monster Hunter music and relive all the memories and emotions that these fantastic soundtracks left in us. You glossed right over the fact the Risen Monsters' themes are all specifically the Rise/Sunbreak renditions.
Edit: In fact, all subspecies that were introduced in different games (like Acidic Glavenus and Violet Mizutsune) technically get variations of their theme for the purposes of this vote.
the theme of the crimson fatalis you're talking about at around 13:00 is the monster hunter frontier one, which is not in the pole as only monsters from the principal games are featured in this pole
it's a shame because frontier have the best OST of all monster hunter.
Let's all agree that Great Maccao is a good boy. He deserves all of our love. Please bring him back.
The short samples really doesn't do justice to a lot of themes like the Brachydios, Bazelgeuse, Kushala Daora and Crimson Fatalis ones...
The Crimson Fatalis theme you showed us isn't the mainline Crimson Fatalis theme, it is the Frontier theme, and not the basic Crimson Fatalis from 1st gen, but a special one, that looks different
originally, Crimson Fatalis didn't its own theme in 1st generation
It only got its own in 4u, the G rank version ONLY, which is a bit different crimson fatalis from 1st gen and 4u high rank, for both its moveset and its look

It's not just you. I literally made a spreadsheet to keep track of my impressions for each with a tentative rank. Big time MH OST fan here and I had a hard time choosing.

But mainline only? Damn....probably either Old Fatty, Dire Miralis or Ceadeus.
I mostly went with the more generic area battle themes that still belong to a monster, like Phantom of the Tower-Kirin and Earth Fissure-Gravios and the like. Highly underrated.@@Vayne_Solidor
There is no ultimately perfect theme. Each piece is made with a purpose, whether it be to warn and scare like Crimson Fatalis while others are meant to be heroic and inspiring like Proof of a Hero.
At 12:00 the rathalos theme in Fatalis is actually because in 1st gen, the Fatalis theme is actually just rathalos' but with choirs
About Ceadeus, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Cause half of the "I voted for _____" posts and comments I've seen on Twitter, Reddit and other sites have been for just Ceadeus
Ceadeus and Allmother seem to have gotten a lot of love and I'd be kinda surprised not to see them at least in the top 10, if not winning it altogether

I voted for Ceadeus 💙 My personal favs are the soundtracks of Tri, GU and Rise and I'd have loved to vote for every single song of them. I even got a new favourite as well with King Shakalaka xD my personal guess is that Zinogre will be number one again (honestly, the theme is hard to beat; Shantien could have a chance if it was possible to vote for it) and Fatalis and Amatsu will be in top 10 or even top 5 due to their fights in World and Rise. I really hope for Allmother Narwa to be in top 10, though.

@@TheJosethemaster Oh yes... I had a very hard time choosing and in the end my choice was between Ceadeus, Mizutsune and Amatsu. Ceadeus won obviously. But I'd also have loved to vote for Blangonga, Barioth or Goss Harag. This was one of the hardest choices I ever made :'D
@@Mika_184x Good choices, no doubt, Mizu and Amatsu was some of the ones I was considering too. Also Apex Rathalos and Alatreon in my case.

Gotta clarify some stuff
Seltas queen uses the heavens mount theme
Najarala uses the primal forest theme
Old gen fatalis + pre gen 4 crimson fatalis use a modified version of the forest and hills that has a choir
Crimson fatalis got his own theme in mh4u as a event quest, that's the one that is in the site but the one that you claimed was underrated is actually his secind phase theme in monster hunter frontier
Bloodbath diablos has 2 themes that use every desert map theme that he appeared in
Chaotic gore mixes the gore magala and shagaru magala themes in a new rendition (also uses new stuff and the mh4u theme)
Gravios doesn't have a theme, that's the old volcano theme
Seltas doesn't have his own theme, the one you heard is actually shared between these monsters in mh4u: seltas, desert seltas, the bird wyverns, lagombi
Sunbreak did not remake the amatsu theme, it's just the same as the old one
Great maccao and the bird wyverns in mhgu share the same theme
I think you should check out raviente's themes next, tho there's like 12 themes across 3 versions of him you should start with base raviente

I voted for Espinas' theme, absolutely love it. Hell, even made a comment awhile back asking for a video on Espinas' theme.
Frontier music definitely deserves more love.

Fun fact:Originaly, Fatalis was suppose to be kept secret, even against the composer. Therefore the director could only tell him that Fatalis will be MEGA-Rathalos.

I'm basic and my favorite theme will always be Zinogre. (Not my favorite monster though.) Especially with the Rise version. But it's great hearing all these old themes and how they grow and change!
I had to give it to Lagiacrus. It's so iconically MH3U and such a great jam. I swear it's the theme for the title.

I remember being a HR hunter in MH3 and knowing about Deviljho but never seeing him, and then fighting the target monster and suddenly their theme stopped and a "Jaws like" theme started to play and you just knew something bad was going to happen.
I remember the "Horror" feeling of trying to solo Alatreon and his theme matched that; but I didn't really feel that in MHW cause of the raid-like mechanics...
Ceadeus was such an amazing feeling boss cause it really inhibits the whole feeling of the boss. He feels so less antagonistic compared to other elder dragons, because his dragon gimmick really is his insatiable appetite; but his damage to humans is the fact he rubs his horns against the seabed and causes earthquakes. At the same time, the theme has a very 'free feeling' which you experience in the 'freedom of movement of swimming'.. which people hated about MH3; but I don't mind at all.
Nergigante theme matches the pace of fighting him; but that doesn't make it a top10 track for me of the very limited MH experience I have,
I voted for white fatalis
voted Dire Miralis again, and again, White Fatalis was on my second place for both polls
but because the poll says the winning theme will be remade, I was influenced to vote Miralis, as I think White is likely to return not too far from now, while Dire Miralis will struggle a lot more because it's partialy an underwater combat
So I voted for the theme that I thought would be less likely to return in the future ( I know Miralis won't win )

Imo, guiding lands is a better theme than rotten vale just because of how hype it is, its too bad that you don't really hear it as much when you got to the higher level of GL locale.
I mean its a bit late to comment this but i know you probably didn't want to record this vid all day but you probably skipped over 10+ themes be it revamps or sup species with new themes themselves so it's a bit sad to just decide to skip every monster with more then 1 theme for the most part

I didn't realize they used the MHW version of Fatalis' theme for this. They used the OG versions for pretty much everyone else. I would've voted for that as my favorite over Bazelgeuse otherwise.
I feel like they made a mistake trying to link these songs all to monsters. Every map theme pre-Generations (except Misty Peaks IIRC) had a monster it was tied to as that monster's "theme." It would've been simpler, I think, to just list the map theme with what map they were attached to.
Not only that, but there's multiple versions of monster themes and my opinions on the themes vary depending on the version. They tried in some cases (like giving the Risen Elder Dragons their Rise theme remixes) but they couldn't fit every version in that way.
If I might suggest another game to check out: Persona 5. Particularly:

--Rivers in the Desert

I love the Rise Apex theme, but I wish they included the Apex theme from 4 Ultimate. It's so incredibly menacing and the instrumentation is reminiscent of Gore Magala's, probably because of the Frenzy connection
I don't know if you ever noticed, but monster like Kushala/Risen Kushala and Tigrex/Molten Tigrex actually had different music. In the case of Kushala/Risen, it was the original theme, and the Risen theme being the version in Rise.
Also, Najarala and Seltas Queen don't have their own themes. Najarala is using the Jungle area theme, and SQ is using the sky mountain area theme. They're generic area themes. Seltas also doesn't have as unique a theme, as it's one shared with a lot of the other weak large monsters, such as Great Jaggi.
And your words about Gore Magala's theme wounds me. It was my choice. Its a really exciting theme that's still melodic. And it has some sections that really stick out.

YEESS! Moonquake also got my vote! I was torn between Ceadeus and Gogmazios, but the samples used were my favorite half of Ceadeus and then phase 1 of Gogmazios while personally I prefer phase 2's theme more. So ultimately, Ceadeus won my vote.
uragaan is the elders recess theme from world
duramboros is misty peaks theme from portable 3
and najarala is the primal forest theme
also the seltas theme was shared with the small great bird wyverns same counts with maccao
For the sake of this vote, Seltas has its own unique theme. The Great Bird Wyverns have a shared theme from Tri.
Voted Ceadeus because Tri was my first MH. They're masterworks all though.
The theme of Duramboros is the theme of misty peak, for me one of the best themes of 3rd gen.
I picked Ceadeus too! I figured it was a long shot, but who cares? haha I was debating picking Astalos though.

Voted for Safi. The build-up to danger to heroic (with the main series' theme), the heartbeat sounds when targeted, the mount with clashing iron sounds, how the music straight up STOPS during its attack... it's a freaking masterpiece 💖

To my knowledge, the Frontier theme is known more than the normal Crimson theme.
Especially for the female vocals in it, so good.
It however wouldn’t be included in the voting, as that specific theme is from Frontier.
But man, if it was, I’d vote for it.^^

I think they made less monster specific tracks when in world they made 3 versions for every track to include right, chase, and mount themes

Davi you skipped the variants! Rusted Kushala has a unique theme! Some of the subspecies had different themes too, like Shah. Also Ahtal-Neset’s was different from Ahtal-Ka’s.
EDIT: You also skipped Jagras, Girros, Tzitzi, and Dodogama! They don’t have the normal locale theme!
EDIT2: didn’t you also skip Lavasioth, Hypnocatrice and some others?
For help; The only Monster whit unique Themes are Flagships, Elders, Monster at Endgamelevel, Khezu, Garuga and the Fated Four. Some Smaller Minster got a shared theme like all the Bears, but thats it mostly.
Btw Rusted Kushala has his own theme, and the Risens just use the Rise Version of the regular theme.
Also I think People do realy like the God Searpant Tracks, its just what this Tracks are already so climatic and positive, its an Anticlimax if there later replaced by Proof of a Hero, because it isnt much of a Update. Its just not using the Meaning of the Song correctly.
Also regarding Chaotic Gore, I expected you as Professional to show much more interest in a Remix of Gore and Shagarus Theme, and all the Technical Stuff behind it. How Shagaru is designed as a more epic, purified and finished Version of Gore and how Chaotic Gore deals whit the two Motives.
Its a bit of a Shame, I think theres a lot to talk about.
Have you heard the 4th Gen Tigrex theme? (Not Molten Tigrex). For some reason its theme was remixed in 4th Gen and it’s so much better than the original (in my experience). Just has this great driving percussion and brass beat that ends with explosive intensity that feels very much Tigrex. Luckily Rise’s Tigrex remix borrowed more from that version so if you’re familiar with that you can get some idea.
A bit sad you skipped over so many of the themes, because many varients have their own theme
Glavenus has his theme from Generations, but Acidic Glavenus has the World version, the latter getting my vote
And you skipped over quite a few iuniques like Yama Tsukami, Hypnocatrice and Lavasioth got their own spots, With Lavasioth getting maybe the best location theme with the second Gen Volcano
Too bad they didn't include Scat Cat Fever, the Phantom Uragaan event from MHTri has my favorite version of the song!
O.k. I know this song I want to recommend is not from a game but you have to react to it. Its called "Dark Aria lv2" from Solo Leveling.

They use electric guitar for Thunder monsters like Zinogre and Astalos in the same way that you notice their use of piano for Ice monsters. So it's not really because of newer generations becoming "more banger/relatable" songs. Also, you skipped some tracks. 😅
Personally voted for Malzeno, GU Valstrax was close second (the Rise version got a more frantic shift I like but it doesn't hit as hard)
King Shakalaka has a particular MHDos arena theme, for a special arena, it sounds so unique yet also so classic MH!
There were a few themes that I wish were included, Ceadeus Phase 1 (The Lunar Abyss) didn't make it in, neither did Brachydios Iceborne or Yian Garuga Iceborne, or MHDos Snowy Mountains. Overall the list had a ton of oddities but it was still cool to see how they assigned themes to monsters
You should check out " A Cup of Liber-tea". I kno hell divers is going off rn. But the theme is actually brilliant!

This is true of: Great Jaggi, Arzuros, Great Maccao
And Seltas!

You skipped dahren mohran. I was really struggling when voting because there are so many good themes, I ended up picking dahrens theme.
In regards to 2nd gen map themes, there's some confusion because Monster Hunter 2 on PS2 and Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (aka Freedom Unite) on PSP have the same locales, but use entirely different BGM for those locales. So all of the 2nd gen maps (such as the tower) have two theme songs. The songs from MHP2G are the ones that tend to be more famous because that game was incredibly popular in Japan, so they're the ones that get remixed in modern games. However this poll tends to have a slight preference for the original themes from MH2.

Hey Davi you should definitely react to MH Tri To One With Life or Dire Miralis’ theme. Both hit wayyy too hard for you to not post a video reacting to them.
I think a lot of the themes that have build up and don't get right to the most memorable parts right away probably have less of a chance, 30 seconds starting from the intro isn't enough for a lot of the MH songs

- 7:13 So cool the theme, I love it.
- 12:14 Yeah, Crimson Fatalis' theme is so cool.
- 17:14 Oh yeah, the main part of Kushala's theme is so unique, cool.
- 19:59 Oh woah, Shen Gaoren's theme is so good, probably one of my favorites. I think I like marches, I should listen to it.

- Okeye, I said this also when you said in the stream that the piano is the instrument for Velkhana, but I just want to say that using the piano for an ice monster reminds me of Gélida Expiración, which is a track for a snowy area in Blasphemous, it's also one of my favorites of the game. The other snowy area uses a piano as well.
- 31:32 Oh yeah, Ceadeus' track seems pretty cool, I love the vocals.
- 38:13 Yeah, Ancestral Steppe's theme is very cool as well.

- 48:42 I love the intro of Astalos' theme, I remember it from the VODs and I really like Astalos' design as well, I loved the wings and the colors.

nergigante theme by it self is nothing special even less for people that didn't fight him , but when paired it him I think is the best theme I ever heard, not because is the best song but because I never felt a theme combine so well to what it is representing, is literally a perfectly translation of his fight to a song at least for me
