I was a teaching assistant and the trauma from how they treated me still affects me years later. Will never go back to working in a teaching environment. I actually have physical signs of the stress which are now permanent 😢
@sairafazil8053 I’m so sorry to hear that 😔 unfortunately I believe it happens to more teachers than they talk about. Everyone is so afraid of “getting in trouble” by admin they don’t speak up when they should and it’s just so so sad. My main reason I left was to be home with my babies but the way I was treated was sickening. I wanted to talk about it in my video but wanted to keep it simple for the time being.
I believe it too. I have bite marks on my arms. And a messed up foot. No one cares about the degradation of your health in this profession because it’s “all about the kids.”
The only good thing I could say about my 7 years teaching was that the job was so ridiculous in terms of not being worthy of being taken seriously that I literally just faked everything and never took any work home ever. Yet I would get compliments on being a good teacher. Until I was asked to resign from one high school for fending off a physical assault and rescuing a bullying victim by punching out a hyper aggressive juvenile delinquent. Then even after that I taught adult education GED for two additional years. I finally threw in the towel and joined the Seafarers’ Union to ship out with the merchant marine for 8 years, got the Expeditionary Medal for Desert Storm, then attended barber college. Cut hair for 20 years then retired. In reality barbering is more professional than school teaching although in Ohio you need only prove an 8th grade education in order to gain entrance to being apprenticed for a year at a barber college.
I hear ya…it’s hard to make a list of the positives in education when you’ve been in it long enough to see the True Colors of how Admin treat their teachers. I could have said many more things that were not good I experienced in my district but who knows who would find that video. Needless to say, I have not missed being there for one second.
I believe it. The less I cared, the better my experience. But it only worked with schools or districts that don’t micromanage conference periods, because PLCs force you to have to interact with co-workers. And that part sucks sometimes. 😂😂😂😂😂
