I definitely think a comic accurate costume would work. Maybe change one or two things to make him scarier and perhaps take some inspiration from things like his Marvel Knights design. It would be awesome.
Willam Defoe’s Goblin was iconic but the inspiration was just as good. Neil Ross’s Goblin is the best adaptation ever to grace the screen. Spectacular Spider-Man’s was close. Neil’s Goblin and the Cartoon he was in even has a multitude of scenes that Rami used in his movies. Goblin talking to Norman via reflection. Taking revenge on board members. Otto building a “reactor” of sorts to produce energy instead of volatile chemicals (that end up fusing the arms to him) in the original comics. Hell most of Venom’s scenes too. Pete hanging upside down in the black suit. The list goes on. Neil was the best vocal Goblin. But Defoe will be the best live-action Goblin.
TASM 2's Green Goblin looks more like a sick K-pop star, who threw a bunch of bad makeup randomly while mad drunk, than anything remotely resembling the Green Goblin.
From a visual standpoint, I’d love to be able to just grab one of those goblin extras from LotR and shove them onto that glider. Looking at all the makeup and practical effects used to bring monsters to life in cinema, you can’t help but be completely underwhelmed with what they went with for one of Spidey’s most iconic villains.
To be fair, him looking visually sick and like he needs help is kind of the point. This Goblin is meant to be more heartbreaking and sad rather than being scary
The best part about the depiction of Harry's addiction in the comics was that it was an actual PSA requested by the Health Department itself in defiance of the Comic Codes of the time and it was done so well.

In TASM I always had that problem: their friendship didn't nade any sense. Is like "hello MY friend" but like when did you guys meet? Why are you friends? Why you don't hang out with others rich kids.
Yeah, their friendship wasn't developed. It just sort of came out of nowhere. So, when Harry transformed into The Goblin and fought with Peter, I didn't really feel anything. The Raimi trilogy did it right by building up to it. We spent two whole movies with Harry and Peter being friends, knowing the inevitable was eventually going to happen. When it did in Spider-Man 3, it was tragic. You felt sad seeing two best friends fighting each other. Especially with Peter being under the influence of the black suit in their second confrontation. Both of them hated one another at that point and were both trying to kill each other.
Neil Ross from the 90s Spider-Man cartoon is my favorite Norman Osborn/Green Goblin. I view Neil Ross as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin the same way I view Clancy Brown as Lex Luthor and Mark Hamill as The Joker. As much as I love Willem Dafoe and I'd love to see Jason Isaacs as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin. He's the only actor that would honestly top Willem Dafoe.
I hope Sony soon realese the amazing Spider-Man 3 so harry can have some more screen time then being totally sick in prison and looking himself in the mirror every day -Zach PS5
William Defoe actually looks like the 60's comic book character. If he's alive he should always play that character even if they have to deage him. That's the guy
I remember during the first time I watched TASM 2 back in 2014 both my mom and older sister were saying stuff like "Why the fuck dose the Green Globin look like a meth head"
Yup. Insomniac clearly took inspiration from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for their version of Harry. The obvious difference being that Harry becomes Venom in Spider-Man 2 instead of the Green Goblin, which also happened in the Ultimate Spider animated series. Harry in Insomniac's SM2 is basically TASM 2 meets Ultimate Spider-Man.
The one thing you cannot do that many adaptations have done is make him a secondary or side villain. Goblin is the most personal villain and archenemy of Spiderman. He HAS to be the main antagonist if he's in a movie or story arc. It doesnt work like joker since he can be a looming presence or thorn in batmans side due to not knowing who he is. But goblin always figures it out and targets family and friends and has an unbearable hatred for spiderman. A villain written like that should always be front and center. When goblin strikes its not to pull a prank or annoy peter. Its to drive a wound so deep into peter that he never forgets
I feel really bad for the cast of this movie, specially Dane Dehaan. He's a really good actor, specially as a villain, but unfortunately he got nothing to be able to show it. They could've worked him as a surprise villain like they intended him to be, making him slowly turn into Goblin throughout the story where he starts to use the goblin serum on himself after Spider-Man declined giving the blood to save his dying father, which would make Norman's death much more impactful and meaningful. After Electro is defeated, Spider-Man is all busted and tired, the perfect time for Goblin to strike. Goblin says he wants the blood to save Norman in time, so Spider-Man fights back, where neither of them knows they're respectively Peter and Harry until a pumpkin bomb exposes both of them to each other. Instead of Harry going after Gwen, who was conveniently there just for that, she accidentally falls down during the fight, so she ends up dying at the same time as Harry's father, prompting him to leave claiming they're even now. Obviously it wouldn't be over, so the 3rd movie would be the big conclusion to this whole drama. If 'TASM3' ever comes to happen, it should be no surprise Harry should be the main villain, plotting a big Sinister Six plan to finally get his blood and cure himself.
I thought dan dahaan’s goblin wasn’t terrible. It just needed more development and I thought it was cool that he actually would turn and resemble a goblin and it would only get worse over time
If Green Goblin is written correctly, he can NEVER be the secondary villain. He does not stand for playing second fiddle. If he’s in the movie, he takes it over. Even Sony and Marvel themselves had the good sense to make him the main villain in No Way Home, which had five freaking villains that had all been the main threats in their previous movies.
@@evildead245 Because, once again, he is not the Green Goblin in Spider-Man 3. This video is talking about how NOT to adapt Green Goblin. Harry became his own Goblin character in Spider-Man 3. Harry in TASM 2 was that universe's version of Green Goblin. Understand?
Just throw the TASM 2 Goblin in dumpster and set it on fire. Shoot at it or something. Just make sure that he doesn't come back from whatever he goes through. Make sure he also goes to the bottomless pits of hell. Plus Spider-Man 3 (2007 clearly) goblin should've had Harry use the same suit as Norman instead of the 'new goblin' that they did. It could really mess with Peter since he could think that Norman is still alive when it's really Harry.
There is 3 Goblin mask and one of them has a gold one where it looks like Green Goblin's mask but gold. I think that's Hobgoblin. But Harry could have been Hobgoblin too since he was Hobgoblin in the comics too
@@MidnightDubstepDane Dehan's Green Goblin > Spider Man Lotus Green Goblin. There is another one worse then Dane Dehan's Green Goblin and that's Into the Spider-Verse Green Goblin. His design is cool but he has no personality
Here’s the thing: I think that The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s Green Goblin could’ve had an awesome design, it’s is only the face. I understand that we should see how sick he is (and that’s kinda why I disagree on the “he looks ill, and that’s not good’ part of the video because we should see what happening to him) but it completely kills the design. I think that if they gave him a face mask similar to Harry’s goblin mask in Sam Reimi’s Spider-Man 3 that unfolds to show how awful he is, this design would work
Wait doesn’t Harry be the goblin in spider man 3? I mean sure he’s not like the green goblin in that movie and more of a hero, but at the beginning and middle of the movie it legitimately shows Spider-Man fighting harry for a good 10 minutes.
Honestly I disagree, the Dane Dehaan actually did to good of a green goblin, his face was scary and the fact that he killed his best friend's girlfriend makes him scarrier I understand his anger his friend wouldn't give him his blood to cure his genetic disease but Peter was just worried that it would do worse things
2002 Suit of Goblin is trash except the mask. I like the 2014 goblin and his suit. It looks better and fits to the character. The 2002 Goblin works only with his mask and as norman but the rest of the suit is trash
I prefer Harry Osbourne from TASM2 over the Harry from the original Spider-Man trilogy. I mean seriously! Do they expect us to believe both James Franco and Willem Dafoe are identically similar and equally scary as father and son?! Franco is no Goblin at all, he literally had to dye his hair auburn just to be Harry, nothing else.

Harry should have met Peter and became friends at Empire State University like in the comics. It would have been way more natural.
What about james franko green goblin from spider man 3? Allthough he's 'new goblin' , i think raimi cooked with him
HARRY IS NOT VENOM!!
I hope Sony soon realese the amazing Spider-Man 3 so harry can have some more screen time then being totally sick in prison and looking himself in the mirror every day

With X-men 97 coming out we need Spiderman animated series back with a conclusion to mary Jane
Willem.
THANK YOU!
Thoughts on ranking all iterations of the classic spidey suit for a video?
The green goblin from dafoe is great gut i think he was incredible as The Riblin
Hey who knows maybe they're about to do something in sequels but that never happened for obvious reasons
I just realized marvels Spider-Man 2 harry is this harry😭
Its to drive a wound so deep into peter that he never forgets
bro said there’s only been 1 live action harry osborne as green goblin as if the 3rd sam raimi spiderman didn’t exist😭
That’s the New Goblin not the Green Goblin
@@spidermania oh damn the lore runs deep✍️✍️
It just needed more development and I thought it was cool that he actually would turn and resemble a goblin and it would only get worse over time
well did willem dafoe have the waves.?
Dude looks like he has a severe skin rash
I like his glider
8:27 I think you forgot something
The Green Goblin from the Atari 2600 game was more intimidating than this version of the character, and all he did was fly back and fourth.
Dunk saying something bad about TASM. Did you take your pills today?
I don’t like electro either but at least he has a cool theme song in the background
Ultimate comics spider-man Goblin dogs any other version 🗿
If Green Goblin is written correctly, he can NEVER be the secondary villain. He does not stand for playing second fiddle. If he’s in the movie, he takes it over. Even Sony and Marvel themselves had the good sense to make him the main villain in No Way Home, which had five freaking villains that had all been the main threats in their previous movies.
TASM2 goblin scared me into brushing my teeth 14 times a day bro😅
His teeth are meant to look like that. In a deleted scene Harry grows fangs and breaks his teeth from the bite force.

Finally a video where someone talks about how bad this version was
why you didnt mention the james franco goblin from spiderrnan3?
Because he isn't Green Goblin. Harry becomes an original version called the "New Goblin" which is unique to Spider-Man 3. So, it doesn't count.
@@SlasherIncorporated But he talked about harry becoming the gobling in TASM2 and The Animated Series .. why not in his first live action?
But Harry could have been Hobgoblin too since he was Hobgoblin in the comics too
@@Shahriyararin63I’m not sure if he did in the comics but I do really love to see that in spider-man 3
@@protag64toons2.0 in the Ultimate Spider Man comic, he was Hobgoblin. But yeah I agree Sam Raimi should have made him Hobgoblin instead of New Goblin
Did they do the hair green goblin well in spiderman 3
I dont think he even counts as Goblin, he's called in the credits "New Goblin"
Spectaculer is best and venom is spider-mans true nemesis! Fr
I guess the New Goblin from Spider-Man 3 does not even count as a Green Goblin to Spider Punk.
Thugger
dane dehaan is the best green goblin i’m dying on this hill
You're also missing Spiderman Lotus green goblin he is on the same level of Dane Dehans bad
we dont count fan made movies, they're not made by big studios
@@file_boi020 I know I just hate Spiderman Lotus
@@MidnightDubstepDane Dehan's Green Goblin > Spider Man Lotus Green Goblin. There is another one worse then Dane Dehan's Green Goblin and that's Into the Spider-Verse Green Goblin. His design is cool but he has no personality
@@Shahriyararin63 didn't they only show him for like a minute
@@MidnightDubstep yeah but still Into the Spider-Verse Green Goblin is even worse
Yes, but he isn't the Green Goblin in Spider-Man 3. He became his own version called "The New Goblin" which was original and unique to that movie.
You watch your mouth Electro isn’t lame
Honestly I disagree, the Dane Dehaan actually did to good of a green goblin, his face was scary and the fact that he killed his best friend's girlfriend makes him scarrier I understand his anger his friend wouldn't give him his blood to cure his genetic disease but Peter was just worried that it would do worse things
We need willam dofoe as the joker one day, his performance would rival the late Heath Ledger rip
2002 Suit of Goblin is trash except the mask.
I like the 2014 goblin and his suit. It looks better and fits to the character. The 2002 Goblin works only with his mask and as norman but the rest of the suit is trash
if 2014 goblin got a mask, yeah he would have cool design
Mark Webb fanboy alert!
14:14 harry was never goblin
New goblin anyone?
Like Venom, he was terrible.
His plot made no sense.
Dear Boy , Green Gobin was "Dead" for a looonnnggg time going Back to the early 70s . Because he's the villain that gives Spidey all can handle & fans 💙 him 4 that. U should do some homework before going on TH-cam Land talking about Green Gobin's being around TOO LONG!!
TASM 2 goblin is def green goblin. Goblin deez nuts that is heyooo
Even Jame Franco’s New Goblin from Spider-Man 3 is better than TASM2 Green Goblin😂
It’s Willam (Will um) Dafoe not William
Willem*
But his stage name is William. He’s stated so him self
Damnit Dane I thought he was going to be amazing but sadly shit was cringey but I think it had a lot to do with how he was written he should have been the hobgoblin
Aye don’t diss 2017 spiderman animated series it’s cool and the goblin is op ❤😂
For being known as spiderman's arch enemy, bro hasn't really shown up in a lot of things lol
Every single Spider-Man show, all three live action adaptations, being set up as the final villan in Insomniac games, and even in the first Spiderverse movie.
He has appeared in every single Spidey adaptation bro
@@file_boi020 because outside of the next insomniac game he’s never been the main villain of a major Spider-Man game. He’s not in the psx game, he’s basically nonexistent in Ultimate Spider-Man, he’s not in Web Of Shadows or Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time (no I don’t count Noir Goblin) and isn’t gonna be in the insomniac games until five years from now. It’s the inverse issue of Batman games over reliance on Joker
@@CursedShinobiClownI have never played these spidey games you mentioned and didnt know he was absent in them. Strange considering he is the arch nemesis, he could even appear as a boss or sth.
So yeah. Point taken. He was kinda absent from games for a while now and we'll have to wait a long time for Spider man 3.
Agreed.
What’s your opinion on “The New Goblin” from Spider-Man 3? I thought he was terribly designed on that one too he looks too much like the Spider-Man villain The Rocket Racer.
I think his worst was Spiderverse he doesn't speak looks teirrable and tries to hard to be scary plus I HATE the idea of Norman working for somebody else
TASM 2 Goblin is fine like the look theme and fight but like 2007 Venom didn't get enough screen time
William Dafoe green goblin is the best !!!
What about the OG live action Harry Goblin in Spider-Man 3? TASM 2 wasn't the only live action Harry Goblin! I think Spider-Man 3 had the better Harry Goblin than TASM 2 even with how comic inaccurate it was lol
Harry wasn't the Green Goblin in Spider-Man 3. He became his own version called "The New Goblin" which was original and unique to that movie.
Hey I like the 60’s Spider-Man cartoon green goblin but as for the Amazing Spider-Man 2 version was very force as I was under the impression that the first movie felt more built towards Norman than Harry as with this mysterious Gentleman and also it feels like Peter doesn’t know the Osborns as he did stole a man’s identity to sneak into Oscorp so I don’t know was it the studio that made Marc Webb bring Harry or was it that movie Chronicle and that he wanted to 💩 on Peter’s life because of some blood that may not work because I think that Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man should be anti capitalist like those kind of people who think all rich people are crooked and that they exploit people so Peter should say no I’m not giving you my blood because this whole disease thing is a scam and that you’re an exploiting Tyrant.
I’m more of a fan when Harry becomes new goblin or hobgoblin in the ultimate comics and that crappy Spider-Man show
U need to remind people to subscribe because u got so many people watching but no one remembers to sub up
