These are old sketches for me, but seeing the reaction of this young man is funny and refreshing.
Mate you have to go to an English wedding to understand most of it.
The garlic bread and cheese cake comments are references to previous routines which were hilarious. You can't go wrong with Peter Kay.
My mum and dad always told me stories of when they were younger when garlic bread and cheese cake were like a foreign object, but now it’s common

Proud to be northern. Peter is an absolute comedy legend and never lost his roots.
Peter Kay is very much a North West of England voice, his references are growing up as a working class lad in those former mill towns, such as Bolton, surrounded by the characters that make up his comedy. His genius is that he can make that universal, so that you don't have to have shared his experiences, he makes it universal. You didn't even have time to think, wait what was that about? Too busy laughing at the flow, and the performance. This is part of stage show of about an hour and a half, so sometimes he was referring back to things earlier in the show, such as Uncle Knobhead, who he had a whole section about. The bits on his Dad's reaction to garlic bread and cheese cake, are in jokes that his audience know. (Cheesecake was not a thing in the UK until the late 80s, I remember being appalled at the idea when I first heard about it, think about it, if you haven't grown up with it it sounds dusgusting). The gesturing with the hands for, want a drink, or go on t' internet, or phoning or pointing while taking about going abroad are more of the same, as is any reference to that fine rain, worst kind of rain. Pretty much anyone in the UK would know that was a Peter Kay reference. You can't really go wrong with his stuff, great stand-up, he did some great interviews with Michael Parkinson, and he has written and starred in some great sitcoms, Pheonix Nights and Car share, just don't mention his turn as a Doctor Who alien.
Car Share episode with the safari park is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.
Peter Kay is, hands down, the funniest comedian in the UK. He is sorely missed and we hope he returns to our stages soon 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Anything by Peter Kay, from Phoenix Nights to stand up or even interviews ( especially with Michael Parkinson ) a UK chat show host will have you in stitches laughing. Great reaction Joel!!
In one of Peter Kay's books he talks about how he was gong to do a big gig and his dictaphone with all the song clips on the tape broke. They had people scouring every shop in the town to get another one the same because he was so used to how that one worked, he wouldn't have been able to get the perfect timing down with a different one.

It's a bit of a stretch, but if you are able you should definitely watch 'Peter Kay's Car Share' - it's a great comedy series and one of his best, in my opinion. :)

Peter Kay has the incredible ability to take the way we DO behave often and shows us just how funny we and him are. Great reaction from you, many Americans may not get our British sense of humour. If you get chance look at excerpts from his TV series Phoenix Nights.
He is very funny, try also, 'Funerals', 'School Reunions' and 'Family'. Someone else here mentioned Micky Flanagan, yes! Look up any of his clips on YT, I'm sure you'll love him. Great reaction by the way, I'm really liking your channel.

We havent seen peter for a lonf time but my goodness he knew people and he is sorely missed..his humour is pure humour no one can beat it.
Garlic bread is in connection to his earlier comedy, in reference to his father first trying garlic bread.
You had me laughing kiddo. Your look of shock every time he made a batch comment about the brides dress. Oh your face lol. You should know, I've been to several weddings just like that!!!
Check out Car share, especially the one with the dogging, the one with the monkey and the one with the fishmonger, whole series was great. Peter Kay is a bit of a national treasure over here, he's just got funny right through him.

Bit late to this video but as a DJ, I've been to Weddings and done them, everyone loves the grease megamix (well most people), if I'm at a wedding or any occasion or DJ them, I never have anything eat, I hate eating in public, but Peter Kay is one of the best comedians out there
My mum was a teacher near where he lives and she sometimes went to the pie shop at lunch, he was usually in there

I can watch him over and over and over. Proper Northern humour. He is an absolute mega-star in the UK. He does and incredible amount for charities too! He makes me howl laughing.

So glad I found your channel . I have never seen these clips and like you was in hysterics. I have been to many weddings and he is so funny because he knows what goes on in England at weddings, you always get someone in the family like he describes, I have done the dancing onto the dance floor in my days. I love comedians that study people and you can connect to what they are saying. He is so brilliant and funny. Great job finding this, I haven't laughed so much in ages.

Peter Kay's shovel guitar is my favourite.
When I was in primary school (elementary school) the year 4 (4th grade) teacher had like a full-on moustache. Damn, that woman was so brave to keep that 'tache AND work with kids. No idea why she didn't shave or wax it lol. She wasn't even super-old or anything, like mid-40s maybe.

I grew up in the same area as Peter and as for the garlic bread/quiche/Vol-au-vent, that's what hotel buffets always served while I worked there. So spot on. Three items repeated again and again. Keep up the reviews 👍

I think I mentioned last week about Victoria Wood, well they're pretty much cut from the same cloth in terms of Northern observational comedy. Sadly VW died 5 years ago at the relatively young age of 62 ... though I appreciate that to a 19 year old 62 must be ancient, lol. PK and VW, for me, are the two comedians whom I could watch 24/7 on a loop. And yes, your jaw DOES ache from grinning so much. Also, there's Tracy Ullman , a British comedian who's lived Stateside for years. She's a terrific mimic and a very funny woman. Joel you sound as though you have a Summer cold or maybe it's hayfever. It's 1.00 a.m. here and I keep meaning to go to bed ...... but just one more video, hahaha.

I highly recommend Peter Kays' book 'The Hills Are Alive With The Sound Of Laughter.' Saw me through a weeks stay in hospital, absolutely hilarious.

Rab C Nesbitt was a hilarious comedy, set in Glasgow, an area called Govan. I sure you would like it, but as they have Scottish accent, you may not understand what they are saying. It could be difficult for a few over here.

Peter Kay I think is the finest funniest comedian in the UK imho. Always remember first discovering on a school trip, as I whiled away the hours of the long coach journey to Amsterdam. Laughed so much it hurt, and I thoroughly pissed off my friend sitting next to me. xD
I meant to say this is northern humour .im from the midlands but i love anything to do with the north .there humour there friendleness you cannot describe .the most friendly .genuine people it has evef been my pleasure to meet.if you ever come to England go to yorkshire first.it realy is Gods own country.in beauty and its people.

Oh I know what you mean about the beard. I volunteer in a charity shop and we were really short of pound coins (very important in a charity shop), so I opted to go to the post office with a £20 note to get some £1 coins. I waited 15 minutes in the queue and then the woman I went to had a bloody beard! I mean to say, what the F....k! Doesn't she own a mirror? 'No' she said, 'it's against the rules for us to give you change.' I thought, it's obviously not against the rules for you to have a bleeding beard!

This is the difference between American and British stand up comedians. No taped laughter , no one prompting the audience to clap , well maybe with Ant & Dec . This is old school stand up comedy with a paying audience. But " J " , we have given you James Corden , now he is absolutely hilarious " NOT " .
