this is the most professional review of a laser light ive seen to date. Clearly shows the upsides and usecases of the technology. I have several laser lights and have to say the tk30 is still one of the best and definetly the most usable. Doest come cheap but i can recommend it
Thanks. Yes, it's expensive, but for the right use cases, it can be well worth the cost. And, relative to many other LEP lights, it's still a great combination of form factor and price.
I've had mine for a couple years now, I love it. Yes, beam is narrow but that helps when looking through trees because you don't have the sidespill reflecting so you can see further. Yep, looking at object close up will leave spots in your eyes, very bright! I carry this and a HDS 18650 rotary, perfect combination for me. No need to carry a big ol' honking spotlight anymore, this thing has throw! If I want a ton of flood I have a Manker MK34
I live in city, rarely go into the woods, sometimes do camping, I can say with confidence that there'd never be a use case for me to use TK30 or HT30R. But boy do I want to own one of these 😂
Thanks for the review. Seems like this would be the bees knees for use on a boat trying to find markers/buoys etc. Now I'm going to look to see if anyone makes 12V LEP wired spotlights.
I’m wondering why they don’t have a secondary lens that can slide into place that scatters the light so you could have a long distance beam or a wider beam for closer up. Seems like that could be the ultimate flashlight. Matter of fact I don’t see any manufacturers making focusing beams besides coast, (and I love their system) would love to see that in a fenix or olight
Why would they? This light has a specific purpose this isnt your go out and hike flash light. If you need a wide beam then you carry a light with a flood also.
i want one just to see what its really like because it seems like video just doesnt show what it really looks like. also i just want one just to have it
Can you adjust the beam at all ans Make it a flood light, or is it always that super tight laser light throw? I prefer a tight throw But when you're looking at things a lot closer, you need more of a flood light.
Thanks. Always glad when people find the reviews helpful and find the right light for their uses. That's one of the main reasons I started the channel.
LOL, I was thinking he sounds like Mr Mackey from South Park. Make sure to say “drugs are bad, m’kay” during a future video. Great light to use while night hunting pigs.
I was waiting for him to tangent from reviewing the light to talking about propane and propane accessories. Honestly there is nothing wrong with sounding like an endearing character. Also a very good video. Thanks for the presentation.
As far as i know the TK30 has a mirror setup to focus the Light (class 3) HT30R has a "shine trough" emitter (no mirrors?) Thats why its class 1, because of the different setup the Laser in the HT30R is a lot more powerfull (wich is why the battery lasts longer in the TK30)
You were informative in telling us how bright your standard helmet light was. I like that. Then at 19:00 you failed to mention at what lumens it was which is what I was most interested in. As far as abuse you should accidentally toss it somewhere down on a hard surface. That has happened to me a couple of times with all kinds of stuff and tells me how well it is made. One thing I got out of this is that laser light is only good for very long distances. 100 yards or more.
400 LM combined flood/spot for the first shot and no headlamp for the second. I shot those two clips while I was filming another review. So, the narration was removed, which included the headlamp details. Thanks for pointing that out.
IMO, where you will start to see issues with drops, is after a light has heat soaked, it compromises the shock absorbing goo they put on some of the internals. this gent's presentation in fantastic, I just became a subscriber :D.
The one thing you didn't describe, was whether this light gets hot at all. I'll assume that, by NOT mentioning it, that it DOESN'T get hot. 🤔 I'd also like to know what type of battery is in it. 🤔
If there had been any heat issues, they would have been mentioned. Link to the product page is in the video description. That page has all the specs - 21700 (Fenix ARB-L21-5000U) battery. Thank you.
@@johndanielsforJesus Thanks. Glad you found it helpful. Keep asking good questions. That's how we get the maximum information out there for everyone else.
Other than throwing a cool beam I cannot understand the purpose of these laser flashlights. I don't often find myself needing to light up a 2' circle at 100 yards.
I want one simply for the novelty of it. However you could argue that it is the perfect light to use with binoculars, even tough i cant exactly think of a scenario where i would find myself needing one in the dark. I can also imagine it being a good weapons light in certain situations if you're a high-speed low-drag operator since you don't blind yourself with the spill of a normal light reflecting off of things near you. But since i'm the opposite of that i want one just to play around with and show it off to friends.
I really love this thing for exploring urban environments at night, because I can shine a light at a building without spilling out into the windows, which might alarm people. Using this light up close on turbo, the light is actually intense enough that light will bounce around the room quite a bit. Not my first choice for lighting up rooms in close quarters, but it is actually adequate. Can also be the case in dense woods.

They make a diffuser that you put on top. Does this
Excellent review. I sure love mine. I use it in conjunction with the Fenix LR35R & have all the bases covered.
Thanks. Enjoy!
Great vid. Thank you.
Are there other LEP lights that are of a smaller profile? Like in 14500?
I use it all the time in an urban environment to locate addresses
Anyone else notice that this guy sounds like Nicolas Cage in Con Air?
Reminds me of Hank Hill. Good tests though
Yup hank hill for sure
Yep 🤣
That's a tight throw! This is my next light!
whoa , dope
your last comment pretty much summed up my thoughts on this flash light. I want it but I have no real use case for it.

No. It's a white laser. It's for extreme long-range applications, not up close.
Thank you, because of your good review, I will get the same laser flashlight TK30.

An thoughts on TK30 White laser vs HT30R?
I'd like to get my hands on it :) About double the peak candela - expect a longer throw, brighter, even narrower beam.
You sound like that guy from KING OF THE HILL
especially when it's recorded on an iPhone - even more so with the windscreen. Too bad I can't get voiceover work :)

I would like to see what it looks like to be shined at from that thing. 200m 500m and so on.
That would be interesting. I'll see what I can setup.
Did Fenix stop making these in class III? they arenow marked class I
You are correct. The internal laser is class I. Thank you.
@@L5-SAR Would class of laser make it any brighter, or think they can do the same with class 1 now? Thanks!

I have the same bed cover, what happened to yours? Looks like a lot of dents/damage.
Bad hail storm a few years ago ... That Flex Seal tape really works :)
Please end your videos with "Damnit Bobby" 😂😂
Good review though! thanks!
What happens when a subject looks into a LEP light? Seems it might do permanent damage! 🤷🏼🤔💭
It will at closer range. Depending on the candela, this is for long-range use only when searching.
Would love to see this tested on dark tinted car windows
My truck has standard tinted windows, so I'd have to search for the right vehicle. Thanks..
Why just use your camera on your phone
