- August 2024's edition of the classic car show at the Capesthorne Hall estate proved to be a huge event, and in this video expect a full walkaround of all the automotive things to see at this fantastic classic car show.
On a perfect morning, we were up at daybreak to fire up our steed for the day - the 1950 Ford V8 Pilot - which performed beautifully on what was one of its longest runs out during our ownership.
There truly was a classic car for everyone at the latest Cheshire Classic Car and Motorcycle show hosted at Capesthorne Hall - from a Cadillac Fleetwood to an AC Ace, and from a Bentley S3 to a Citroen Ami!
This particular video covers the turnout on Monday 26th August of the two-day car show, and therefore Mercedes marque cars were featured at the very top, infront of the Capesthorne Hall itself.
If you enjoyed my full walkaround of the August 2024 Capesthorne Hall classic car show, then do let me know in the comments below, and check out the channel homepage for my coverage of various past Classic Shows events. Make sure to like and subscribe for weekly classic car content while you're here too! ;)
Thanks for watching!

excellent coverage, perfect Sunday afternoon viewing. Thanks very much!
Excellent as always Harley
Thank you 😅😅😅😊😊😮
Cute car and even cuter presenter.🥰
Almost jumped out my chair when you showed the 1949 Cadillac in dark green. My brother owned one many years ago that he bought for $400 in fantastic, low mileage condition. It was a beautiful car with a warm comfortable interior that, like you, I got to drive in our lane and learn to park in front of our house before getting my license. Thanks for the memory jogger, Harley!
Your welcome, it was a spectacular car!
I agree with your comments about the Bentley s at 50:30. A beautiful car. I used to own one many years ago, a 1956 model. Wish I still had it. Anyway, a nice turnout of vehicles here. Excellent video Harley.
the pilot looked so good out and about
That Bentley S1 would be a sublime daily driver…what a lucky owner! I’ve just acquired a 560SEC version of that 420 you showed…. It’s a mighty car and a wonderful country cruiser here in Australia. A most enjoyable podcast once again, Harley. Thankyou.😊
Agree Harley, the Bentley is stunning and the best thing anyone can do with them is to use them regularly. I would definitely use it as a daily. First rate video again Harley, thoroughly enjoyable, The only cars I have these day are Mercedes Benz.
For me it has to be the Bentley in first place followed by the Rolls Royce. Multiple Jaguars and Rileys following up but, wow, special mention has to be made of the MG 1300. I applaud the Bentley owner using it a his daily drive but I bet he steers clear of supermarket carparks. 🤣 I haven't seen a Toyota Crown station wagon like the one you showed but a flatmate of mine some years ago had a Crown saloon. It was 6 cylinder, comfortable to ride in and went like a rocket. LOL @ "Severely American frame". Great video Harley, I really enjoyed it.
Very good report Harley, my car of the show would have been the Gold Healey 3000 BJ8. Well done Bob
Your knowledge, maturity of presentation, and complete confidence grows faster than even your height! Dad also has a growing competitor to continue the family heritage and lineage - he better look out! Lol! As super show perfectly curated, edited and made totally enjoyable. Well done! Rob
Thanks Rob!
Great video Harley yes you have to brush up on the Vauxhalls hahaha and I would drive home in the Vauxhall vx490 or your Bentley cheers well done again
Nice tasteful presentation if I might say.
Thanks!
Cool
4:19 : Plymouth Valiant, 1970-1971 [ I think 1970]. Possibly the “Scamp”.
By 1967 the Baracuda had its own body, and by 1970, it was called the ‘Cuda.
Fantastic Mercedes,right after.
23:58: one of my favorite British designed cars . MG 1300. These and the MKII Cortinas. Among my favorite all time .
📻🙂
Maybe a Dodge Dart?
Hi great video again I enjoy your attention to detail especially with the jag exhaust being designed to stop exhaust smoke going into the boot very interesting little facts bet even the owner didn't know that lol was looking at the dolomites but couldn't quite see wether the lines on the panel in front of the bonnet were there ie if not it was a alarm bell due to severe corrosion on the panel above the headlights they used to rot for fun lol great video keep up the good quality work 👍👍
Thanks, I was looking at the blue Dolomite and it did look very straight
59:10. Cadillac is a 1970 Eldorado, FRONT wheel drive but not a transverse engine . 8.2 liter .
You nailed the Buick. And it is a ‘58.
In 1973 new regulations went into effect affect, mandating lead-free gasoline [ Petrol], and new anti-pollution regulations, which robbed engines of power. Also we switched from “Break Horsepower “to “Net Horsepower “.
📻🙂
That has to be a silver cloud series one or perhaps series 2. Series one had the six cylinder engine. Series 2 had the V8 engine. Series 3, had the V8 with quadruple headlights. The Silver Dawn preceded the silver cloud and was the Rolls-Royce counterpart to the Bentley MK VI and R type post war. There was also a modern Silver Dawn, a convertible recently discontinued.
The silver MB 220, I think you said S, was termed a Cabriolet.
Loved the Jowett roadster, it reminds me of the Rover used in the recent version of All Creatures Great and Small.
Guess I’m a sucker for green convertibles.
Very enjoyable 😊 I'm glad to see younger men take 'super' interest in classic cars. The Ponton btw 220a depicts a single carb & the 220s is twin. I was brought up on them as my Dad worked for Mercedes in 60's & 70's. And finally what do you video with as the quality is great? Thanks again 😊
Thanks, I filmed this on my Canon SX70 HS with an external microphone
Hi 👋 Harley. The highlight for me is the Jowett Jupiter. Such a rare car . I also like the Lancia Monte Carlo. I knew a guy in the 1980s, and he owned a Lancia Beta 2000 HPE. It was a 1978 model in silver. A very nice looking car design. He tended to plant his foot on the accelerator and speed. It was a rough ride. Certainly not as smooth as i thought it would be. Capesthorne Hall looks fantastic. Beautiful gothic architecture, do you go inside to have a look ?. Thanks Harley for your entertaining video. From Carl in NZ.
It is open inside and I think there's a cafe too, I have been there but usually spend most of the time filming the cars
@@CarTractionvids Thanks for your reply. I would love to visit Britain and go to see those historic places.
The Morgan has a louvered bonnet which would be a +4.
Hey guys brilliant video and you certainly know your stuff can I ask do you have any videos of the exhibition particularly the sports cars and convertibles as I was in the alfa spider Lusso who came runner up and I'm just trying to find some footage of it .cheers in advance and keep up the good work 👏
Thanks - to put it briefly, if it didn't appear in this video I didn't film it at all, it's impossible to show everything :)
Also has tachometer which at that time the 4/4 series IV would not have had.
Thanks!
At 12.00 the carb is updraught I'm surprised you don't see it.
Sorry, but please remember 99% of 16 year olds wouldn't know what a carburettor is! Thanks for watching
Chevy ! I’ve lost all faith in the judging at Capethorne. As I drove my Mazda in to the arena he announced it as a Toyota. Not for the first time as he’s done it before. I won’t be entering again as after 3 years I have seen a pattern develop of completely over restored vehicles take the prizes. They need to rebrand this event as a concourse event as it’s clearly not aimed at the unusual, the rare or nice examples of classics.
The Chevy at 12 minutes has an up draught carb. You can just see it below the manifold assembly , you are so your dad's clone😀😀
