I am so glad I subscribed to your channel. For the simple fact I thought Field Day was "The last weekend of June". We even booked a camping trip for it 400 miles from home. Well, it looks like my trip will be for camping and not Field Day. I will still use emergency power for the 1E that I would have used. WTX instead of STX. -100 bonus points for not being "Outdoors". Oh well! Adapt and Overcome!!! At least I know it is this weekend. Imagine not knowing and showing up to a party that was held a week prior. LOL!!! 73!!!
I also thought it was "the last weekend in June." Sneaked up on us this year.
Thanks for doing this again, I'm hoping to participate.
As my only opportunitys to operate HF, and I've just finishing up my basic portable HF station build(Radio case has a G90 for HF, and a TK-780 for VHF), although I'd hoped to have more done, but my Jeep decided it needed 5wks of my time to swap the engine out. I'd hoped to have a digital box built out, and a TK-7180 phone/APRS radio setup, using a Raspberry pi, a Signalink, and a custom cable, connecting the DB-25 port on the back of the TK-7180 to the Signalink. Unfortunately, even though I've been on vacation this week, My progress, beyond putting the final touches on the radio box, was to build 20m, 40m, and 80m dipoles, and get the 20m and 40m tuned in an inverted V configuration. I'll be heading out early tomorrow, and picking up a 22' paint pole from Lowes for my mast, if I do go, as the fiberglass tall/skinny banner poles from in front of car dealerships(what I used in the tuning setup, and what I use for my dining fly setup when I go camping) are too flimsy for the task.
We are running our Field Day with a Ford Lightning. The weather it supposed to be 94⁰ and humid. It's our only option for a safe operation at this point. Btw, it will run a large house with AC for 4 days! Josh, are you listening? 🤣
Sounds like a plan. Wonder if @HamRadioCrashCourse will be doing the same this year?
@@KM4ACK He sure could. I know if I had one, I would be utilizing that bad boy!
Cool idea, we'll be joining in.
Challenge accepted
ARRL Field day? I guess using the LoTW? 😂. Wonder how the awards are going to work…
Anyone know how to do this in Winlink Express in Windows? He's says you can but I can't find it. I can send the position report but can't find the nearby stations request.
Here's an old video but should point you in the right direction - th-cam.com/video/PAawno3mO5E/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Perfect, it's an old video but still exactly accurate on how to do it. Thanks!
Sounds like a fun challenge. Would this also count for a message for points?
Not sure about that one. I just do this for fun.
hey ARRL, How about fixing LOTW?

anyone knows how can I send a nearby station request in WoAD?
thanks

Don't think WoAD has the catalog feature but you can do it manually. Send message to INQUIRY Subject - REQUEST. In the body of the email, put: WL2K_NEARBY Send the message and then wait 4-5 minutes. Make another winlink connection and the request should be returned.
