Hey guys , I am the owner of this boat and the guy that was responsible for the situation, we arrived at the site already exhausted from the trip up, tied the boat off to a nearby tree unloaded the Camping gear and thought we would go take a look at the western beach before properly setting up camp and securing the boat. Big mistake , the tide rushed out quickly and pushed the boat into an awkward angle where it took on water from one corner slowly until it submerged. terrible stupid mistake I know. it all happened in about 20 mins we came back and she was under . It was a huge group effort to save her and I want to thank all who assisted. It was hectic and it was hard but we got it done and were very conscious of safety while doing it although it may not look like it in the vid, we all were watching each other and had each other’s backs . Huge thanks to Lindsay and the guy that posted this vid for helping out and also all my buddy’s who didn’t give up. We got her back on surface , dried out and back in action. Total damage cost was about 4 k. Including towing back to mainland from VMR $600 and a rebuild of the motor with a new carby$3200 but she’s back up and going. Few things I learned and I hope it might help someone . 1. If your motor gets wet . Shut off the power (battery) asap. You may save it. 2.If it’s soaked fill the carby full of oil ASAP 3. Never tie off to shore or any fixed object always use your anchors and off the FRONT of the boat. 4. Join VMR before U go out, and tell them where you are going . I’m a member of my local but different state different organisation. Would have cost much less for the tow if I joined before we left. 5. Have faith in your mates. When all else is lost they will be the ones that get you through . Ur a bunch of legends ❤️u all. . Ps this drama did not ruin our weekend we had a fantastic 3 days on the paradise that is Fraser and would recommend it to every one FYI the boat is all fixed up and had many more adventures since this and many more to come. Be safe ❤️ C
Well said mate.....I was hoping you would eventually see this video . Shows the desperation by you and your mates working as a team to get the job done. PS We loved the music you guys played each night. The incident sure didn't dampen your spirits. Larry
Duuude, what a terrible feeling that must have been coming back and seeing your boat like that. Good to see everyone getting stuck in though. Thanks for the tips, I hope never to have to use 1 or 2 though *Touchwood*
Thank you so much for this, I wasn't on this trip away as I am living and typing this to you now haha. But this group are my best mates...... we do this regularly. Thanks for posting, was a crazy mission and awesome story they told when they got back
Yeah all fixed, went out spear fishing on it last Sunday not sure on the exact details but yeah it was out for a bit. He's the bloke in the white shirt at the camera side of the boat at 0:06
Yeh mate ...I alerted them she was going down and also in there helping out. My wife filmed this from the back of our boat..... Good memory for them ( in a bad kind of way ) Hope they get a laugh out of this now !
Rope attached to bow should have been run up and around tree then back to second boat in water to winch sunk boat up onto beach. Would have taken 30 seconds.

Great bunch of blokes . Did your mate end up getting the motor fixed...Or was it a write off ?

A couple of automatic bilge pumps are a good back up.

how did the boat capsize in the first place?
Tied bow rail up to a tree at high tide...tide went out , stern flooded.
larabypc2600 thanks for the reply! I'll know not to do the same when I head up!
yeah tide can cause issues so many times. ALways think of the tide and what will change in time.
That’s some edge of ya seat viewing great team effort getting her refloaded
thats my dad and his friends
Good save
