But Saruman didn’t have any such connection and in fact Aule’s relationship with his wife is contrasted here with Saruman’s clear disdain for Radagadst who is Yavanna’s servant.

      Yeah, but that goes against the themes of LOTR. Tolkein HATED industrialization, having been mostly exposed to its worst sides in the form of polluted cities in his youth and industrial warfare in the trenches of WWI. He decided he wanted nothing to do with it, and saw the destruction of the beauty of nature by the march of industrialization and modernization as a tragedy, part of the overall decline of the world from its former greatness, and that is reflected in the LOTR series. To him, Middle Earth going through an industrial revolution would be a worst-case scenario.

      @Cooli167 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Since I believe Saruman was Tolkiens Allegory for the woes of Industrialized Warfare, he would probably spread this across the land to conquer everything. Once that is done, it would be more of the same to keep his rulership. Everyone brought to their knees as a slave to constantly build a new dystopian world.
      Although, in reality he would never win. Sauron already had won that battle of wills. And Were he to have Destroyed Rohan and assist in the Destruction of Gondor, Sauron would have most likley reclaimed the one Ring when Frodo attempted to cross to Mount Doom, and therefore Sauron's Domination was to be complete. At least until the Valar intervened once more.

    • @Cooli167
      @Cooli167 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@origami83 That's the better million dollar question. I think it would depend on when he found it. If was as early as possible, before Gollum found it, he would have the whole time to research and prepare for its use. For whole he was one of the few being capable of doing so, it would take time to wrest control of it from Sauron.
      But from then on it would dominate his actions. He would definitely seek to dominate middle earth with its power, and not share it.
      I personally think he would defeat Sauron with it, and win. But you could argue that in that crucial moment, the ring would fail Saruman and it would return to Sauron.
      If he succeeded with the attack on the Fellowship at Amon hen, then I think he would lose. Sauron would find out sooner, and he would have the strength to battle Saruman before he was ready to use the Ring.

    A slight correction; Saruman never actually sought to ally with Sauron, nor was he ever subjugated by him or lost a battle of wills. Saruman feigned loyalty but always intended to claim the ring for his own. The Witch King (and by extension Sauron) even knew this, but also knew he couldn't assault Isengard without an enormous army. The two always intended to betray each other right from the start. Ironically he was actually trying to do good by studying Sauron and his ways, but along the way he started to become envious of his knowledge and saw him ever as a rival to his own ambitions.

      @@Jaydee-wd7wr There seems to be two kinds of Orc origins. There's the original ancient orcs who are corrupted forms of natural life, so Elves and Men to make Orcs and Ents twisted to make Trolls for instance. And there are the more modern versions of the orc which seem to be created in underground pits and vats of some kind. There's probably a similar process for creating the Olog-hai trolls too. Orcs, Goblins and Uruks seem to have an understanding of this creation process, which has allowed them to multiply outside of Mordor in places like Moria and the old orc kingdom of Gundabad.
